  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 15, 2017 -> 11:15 AM) But dat ass. Oh yeah. She's a smokeshow for sure. She's nowhere near as good as Cara, Camila, or Laurel though.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 14, 2017 -> 09:51 AM) This feels too light for me. Rutherford is nice and all but I think he's too much of a wildcard at this point in time to be the main prospect in a deal. I think if something like that is too light, Quintana is never being traded.
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 15, 2017 -> 08:54 AM) They were all like, "Yeah, that makes sense." Bahahaha It's ironic how this season has an Ashley who is so nasty and an Ashley that is so hot. Ashley that lost shouldn't really be with the champions though. She won her only season of The Challenge because she was on a team with Zach and Frank.
  4. Bananas is the best man. He just continually does these things and it always works. I couldn't believe they let him do that last night.
  5. All the players that are out of options makes this interesting. 1. T. Anderson SS 2. J. Abreu 1B 3. M.Cabrera LF 4. T. Frazier 3B 5. M. Davidson 3B 6. A. Garcia RF 7. T. Saladino 2B 8. O. Narvaez C 9. P. Bourjos CF Bench C G. Soto INF Y. Sanchez U L. Garcia OF R. Liriano Starters 1. J. Quintana 2. C. Rodon 3. J. Shields 4. M. Gonzalez 5. D. Holland Bullpen D. Robertson N. Jones J. Petricka Z. Putnam D. Jennings D. Covey M. Ynoa I think Davidson, Sanchez, L. Garcia, and M. Ynoa are roster locks because they are all out of options. Covey stays as a rule 5 guy. I've seen speculation from some (including Scott Merkin) about Jacob May being the CF but then Bourjos would be gone entirely in my opinion. No 2nd Lefty in the pen (not that it matters). I put Rymer on the roster because he's out of options but Iw couldn't be stunned to see him gone and Asche making it with the LHB.
  6. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 14, 2017 -> 01:16 PM) I have a feeling we will be seeing May in CF on Opening Day. I doubt it. I think Bourjos is CF, Garcia in RF, Melky in LF. Leury, Soto, Sanchez, and 1 of Liriano or Asche as final bench piece.
  7. I'd take Rutherford, Mateo, Andujar, and Kapreilian in a heartbeat but I don't think New York would do that.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 14, 2017 -> 12:07 AM) This thread is a perfect example of why the mods have to be concerned about the tone of this board this season. It seems to me every thread is going to turn into a "good, now we can move this guy" if a player does well; a player such as Saladino. There will be very annoying game threads with the posters wanting us to lose every game. Far be it from me to tell u how to run a message board. I know people get sick of me repeating themes such as Hillary sucks, Bernie baby, I want to win every game, the draftniks are ridiculous, etc. But Saladino is a very very very good hitter and I think a big leaguer. So if he makes the team and does well every thread is gonna be, "GOOD NOW WE CAN MOVE HIM." I implore the rebuildniks to calm down and re-assess their posts. Is this board really going to be calling for Frazier to be traded every time he hits a home run rather than celebrating the home run and possible victory? Me says YES. Don't like it. Yes Greg. The best thing for this franchise moving forward is to lose a s***load of baseball games this year. Rick Hahn wants to lose 100 games. So does Kenny Williams. It's the whole point of doing this.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 07:55 PM) Tyler Saladino isn't going anywhere. Why not? I don't it's farfetched that he could be moved. He's a 27 year old utility guy.
  10. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 01:00 PM) That's not what GMs said at the deadline based on the prices they paid for elite relievers. Front offices are starting to realize these guys provide much more value their volume-based WAR would suggest. Not all runs/outs are created equal and high leverage ones should be valued accordingly. And pointing out that these guys only get 60 -70 innings a year is completely ignoring their potential use as weapons in the post-season. I feel pretty confident in saying that with even one dominant major league season, Burdi would be able to net a haul that included at least two top 100 pieces. If such a player isn't considered a back-end top 100 prospect, then something is wrong with the ranking process IMO. What you're describing is exactly why I value relievers the way I do. Create relievers that are failed starters. Let them thrive. Trade them for prospects. Rinse and repeat process. They are valuable but definite relievers will never be on top 100 lists, regardless of how they're used in playoff series'.
  11. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 12:39 PM) I'll keep shouting this, but it's an absolute sin that Burdi doesn't make the cut on these lists IMO. I'll give Fangraphs credit for having him in the "under consideration", but the dude is going to be a high leverage reliever in the majors. If we saw how teams valued those type of relievers at the trade deadline, I think it's time we finally reassess how treat them in minor league rankings. I don't. Guys with 60-70 IP per year just aren't as valuable as starters and position players.
  12. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 12:24 PM) Not high on Frazier myself. I'm hoping for something along the lines of Torres/Rutherford/Montgomery/Fowler for Q. I really don't think asking for two highly ranked A ball players is asking too much as a headliner in a trade for Q. No chance Torres goes anywhere IMO.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 10:02 AM) I know it's only been a handful of games and a small sample size, but I'm starting to worry a bit about Moncada's K rate. MLB pitchers are going to eat him alive if he doesn't improve. He's probably a bust.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 12, 2017 -> 12:42 PM) I'm in your corner on this. There's no reason to have that low a payroll when you are a big league franchise playing in Chicago. Very sad. At least tickets should be dirt cheap for the best seats on the secondary ticket market sites this year if anybody wants to see The Cell once or twice a summer despite the product. Tickets are always cheap for Sox games. Even when they're "contending".
  15. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Mar 12, 2017 -> 12:22 PM) I don't call it a rebuild. I call it having one of the lowest if not lowest payroll in MLB. I fully expect the team to be sold after the 2018 season. It's much easier to sell a team with a low payroll and no long term contracts on the books. That's how I see this. If anybody thinks JR cares about anything else but money, I think they're misreading him entirely. I could be wrong. Time will tell. It's not that you could be wrong. You are most definitely wrong.
  16. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Mar 11, 2017 -> 09:05 PM) Wright was underused as the Titans' slot receiver last year, but he has the talent to make an impact in Chicago. His signing makes Eddie Royal's $5 million cap hit expendable. Cameron Meredith, Kevin White, and Wright should open 2017 as Chicago's top three wideouts, with Markus Wheaton competing for a roster spot. The 20th overall pick in the 2012 draft, 27-year-old Wright offers vertical ability in the slot. He underachieved in Tennessee due to clashes with several different coaching staffs and hard-luck injuries Per Rotoworld Wheaton got $5 million guaranteed. He's on the roster.
  17. QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 02:23 PM) Havent the Titans been the favorite for a while though? I hope he comes back it just seems like he doesnt want to be given all things equal. Maybe this will end up how the Lance Briggs contract situation went. Not for what it looks like he's going to get paid. Market came back close to what Bears were offering. They had productive talks the other day and Rapoport and Stacey Dales both said he's testing market and then coming back to Bears
  18. I actually think Jeffery is coming back. Niners signed Garcon and Marquise Goodwin. Philly is signing Kenny Britt. Leaves the Bears and Titans for Jeffery
  19. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 10:49 AM) Uh...the Red Sox did before the trade. The Nationals before the Eaton deal as well, maybe the Dodgers, Brewers, Padres, Braves, and Yankees too. My point isn't that Hahn got robbed in this trade. Moncada and Kopech at the front end were great gets. I'm simply saying he probably could've gotten one more impact piece had he been a little more persistent in the negotiations. Mike, I'm sorry but that's absurd. Rick Hahn is a pretty shrewd negotiator. He got what they wanted in the deal. Groome was the best pitcher in last year's draft. He's a top 50 guy. They weren't getting a top 3 prospect, a soon to be top 20 pitching prospect, and another pitching prospect that could be top 20 by end of this season. Asking for Groome as well is crazy. He's not some throw in.
  20. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 09:55 AM) There is a difference between a "top 50 prospect" and the #1 or #2 prospect in baseball Other than Benintendi, Moncada is arguably the most prized prospect in baseball right now Kopech is a top 20 mlb prospect Basabe is a top 150 mlb prospect, possibly top 100 with a good season Diaz is an interesting throw in with a 70 grade fastball. Could turn into a relief option? Devers was never going to be included in this deal, as Boston knew that their package was better than the Nationals Moncada has the chance to be one of the best players in baseball. Kopech could be the best pitcher in baseball. 1 writer that everyone hates has him as the best pitching prospect in the game currently. That was the best you could possibly do IMO. Keep in mind that Hostetler comes from the Schuerholz method of scouting. Athletes at premium positions. Basabe is an athletic CF. Diaz is a great 4th piece because if he's kept in bullpen, he should come really quick. There's no reason to complain about it. Our initial expectations were too high. It doesn't matter what we think Chris Sale was worth anymore. The market showed us exactly what he was "worth" and every writer/analyst widely praised the deal
  21. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 08:58 AM) That's debatable. While I'm not upset about our return, I still think we could've gotten more. Moncada/Kopech and Diaz as a wild card are fine, but I wish our 3rd piece was better. I know Devers would be unrealistic, but I feel like getting Groome over Basabe would have been a better reflection of Sale's value. They clearly couldn't get more. You could argue that a package of Robles/Giolito/Lopez from Washington is better but then you don't same prospect from Boston for Eaton. This was a long process. I'm pretty sure the Sox extracted the maximum value that they could.
  22. QUOTE (scs787 @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 09:35 AM) As long as there is little to no gaurented money after year 1, I'll be fine with. Saints were said to be really high on Glennon when he came out, so ya gotta assume Pace was apart of that. I would be willing to see it play out. He was behind a god awful OL in Tampa, then Lovie got cute and brought in his guy McCown, and then Winston fell in their laps. Maybe a better situation is what he needs. Pace would certainly be putting his reputation on the line here, and if Glennon sucks, that could be one foot out the door. In the draft, I wanna see the Bears go Adams in the first, best corner available in the 2nd. 33rd round is where I would hope to grab a Nathan Peterman or Davis Webb. Neither of those QB's are future NFL starters though. That's a wasted pick. They have to take a QB in 1st or 2nd and it should be one of the top 4 guys. That's the only way this makes sense. I'm not sure Adams is worth a top 5 pick. He didn't test well and while his tape is good, you need to check every box to go in the top 5 at that position.
  23. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 08:42 PM) To start the season I'm thinking something like this. Rotation: Q, Rodon, Gonzalez, Holland, Shields Pen: Robertson, Jones, Jennings, Petricka, Putnam, Soto and Covey as the long man. Lineup: LF- Melky CF- May (RHP) Bourjos (LHP) RF- Asche (RHP) Avi (LHP) DH- Abreu (RHP) 1B- Delmonico (RHP) Abreu (LHP) 2B- Saladino (can backup Frazier at 3B ) 3B- Frazier SS- Anderson C - Narvaez/Soto This leaves one spot open on the bench so I'd go with Yolmer at this point. I think May makes the team thanks to Tilson's inability to stay healthy and Delmonico makes it due to a nice ST and his LHB. That's my take for now but could/probably will change as we move closer to the end of ST. Thank goodness baseball is back. Davidson is a roster lock.
