  1. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 01:32 PM) Any other cynics here think that the "rebuilding idea" and the two trades were just excuses to get rid of "perceived" problems in Sale and Eaton and the Sox are done trading? No chance. I would expect 4-5 more deals.
  2. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 11:48 AM) Luhnow is a prospect hoarder. I dont see a trade going down with the Astros. He gave up like 5 good prospects for Ken Giles. And Ken Giles isn't taht good.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 02:48 PM) Soxtalk, because I care about you, I'm taking a hit for the team and am going to listen to the buster olney podcast for the Nightengale bits on Quintana. I will report back. Nightengale is very confident he gets moved. He thinsk they are determined to trade him but they think as highly of him as they do Sale. He expects up to 7 more players traded. He did mention that White Sox would have the payroll to be very active throughout with the 2018 Free Agent class.
  4. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 01:16 PM) I hope you all are right. I have this fear that they think they can still compete by having those 3 start with the team on opening day. If the plan truly is to start all 3 in the minors, it's even more reason to move Frazier, melky, and Robertson now in my opinion. The current market conditions seem very favorable to moving those guys this offseason as soon as Jansen and Turner sign. Plus that frees up money to sign some cheap vets to plug holes with warm bodies. I expect the rotation to be Rodon, Gonzalez, Shields, and 2 free agent fliers. I'm pretty confident after hearing Hahn that Fulmer, Lopez, and Giolito will all start at Charlotte.
  5. The White Sox are loaded with pitching prospects and they will most likely be adding more. As it looks now possibly: Charlotte- Giolito, Lopez, Fulmer, Holmberg, Birmingham-Adams, Stephens, Guerrero, HIGH A- Kopech, Hansen, Dunning, Diaz, Solorzano, Low A- Fry, Comito, Flores.
  6. Ideally St. Louis, LAD, and Colorado could all get it done for Q too.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 09:42 AM) I know we've gotten several elite prospects and figure to get some more with Quintana, but you are going to be getting a more typical B/B- prospect for Robertson in maybe a 1 for 1 swap. He has red flags and is not dirt cheap, just more reasonable. Robles would not be considered, and honestly a player like Kieboom + wildcard 20-30 arm would be enough for me. Others have discussed Severino, who is a near ready plus defense catcher with a stick that is questionable to make him a regular in majors. I would ask for Kieboom and Stevenson and see if they bite. If not, I'd take one of those players with C Jakson Reetz depending on what the Dodgers package is. Kieboom/Reetz or Stevenson/Reetz is about right I think. Kieboom/Stevenson would be fantastic but probably unrealistic.
  8. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 02:25 AM) I'm hoping for Kyle Wright from Vanderbilt. He's 6'4 220, has a mid 90s fastball and a slider. Here's some video: Josh, I think Kyle Wright ends up in the top 5.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 06:55 PM) Unlucky is probably accurate. 71 games pitched. 13 games he gave up runs. 9 of the 13 he gave up 1 run, and had 9 BS. The opposition had a hard time hitting him. The last month it was silly. Righties hit Nate Jones to the tune of a .476 OPS last year. Jones had a great season.
  10. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 11:24 AM) This isn't the best time to trade Robertson, unless he's part of a larger deal. His WHIP was up last season and the Sox would be selling low on him right now. If Hahn can't get what he wants for Robertson right now, hold on to him and revisit trade discussions in July. You do risk him being bad again though. I think they deal him now, let Jones be the closer and trade him for a ton in July.
  11. Kenley Jansen signing in Miami would be fantastic. It would leave Washington and LAD possibly battling over David Robertson. Mark Zuckerman today said that Nats still and interest in Robertson.
  12. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 09:36 AM) Yup. And that's fine for a rebuild. Acquiring a top 3ish draft pick and the pool size that comes with it will help immensely. Yes. They should also trade for International Pool $$ and spend the full $8.3 million every year. Big jolt to the system.
  13. Dylan Covey pitched in the AFL this year after missing a lot of 2016: http://www.athleticsnation.com/2016/11/20/...ll-league-title
  14. http://www.espn.com/blog/keith-law/insider/post?id=5999 Law said Sox Struck Prospect Gold and praised deal on their end. Even said they acquired the #1 prospect in baseball.
  15. This is outstanding. Selling high on Eaton is so smart the more I think about it. White Sox could have a top 5 system or so after 2 deals. Still have other guys to trade. You can't just try to fill spots during a rebuild. You have to acquire the most talent available. #3, #37, and Nats 2016 1st rounder. Awesome deal. Awesome day.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:07 PM) Replace Martin and Guduan with Reed and I'm in. There's a very good chance that Reed sucks.
  17. Is something like this enough for Q: RHp Francis Martes, OF Kyle Tucker, 3B JD Davis, OF Jason Martin, LHP Reymin Guduan? Martes is #29 in baseball and their top prospect. Tucker is #50 overall. JD Davis is bat first 3B. Martin is tools flyer with big power in lower minors and Guduan is LH reliever that hits 100 with bad control.
  18. Turner isn't getting traded. They'd move Turner back to SS, dump Espinosa, and play Eaton in CF
  19. I'd much rather do: Quintana to Houston for Martes, Tucker, Reed+ and Eaton to Washington for Robles, Lopez/Ross, and Severino
  20. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 11:00 AM) A Braves package could work built around Albies and Newcomb + Rio Ruiz would likely get the deal done That's not close IMO
  21. Here's the Baseball America (paywall) explanation from Ben Badler: http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...hyAyO7IBYWtT.97 Clubs either get $5.75, $5.25, or $4.75 million to spend on international prospects under 25 per year. Teams can trade all of their bonus amounts but can only acquire 75% of their bonus pool in trade. Here are the amounts. $5.75 million Arizona Baltimore Cleveland Colorado Kansas City Pittsburgh St. Louis San Diego $5.25 million Cincinnati Miami Milwaukee Minnesota Oakland Tampa Bay $4.75 million Atlanta Boston Chicago Cubs Chicago White Sox Detroit Houston LA Angels LA Dodgers NYM NYY Philly San Francisco Seattle Texas Toronto Washington Players that cost $10,000 or less don't count against the pool. The following teams can't spend over $300,000 on a player because they are in the penalty from previous years: Cubs, Dodgers, Giants, Royals, Athletics, Astros, Braves, Cardinals, Nationals, Padres, and Reds. All of those teams can trade their full amounts however. The White Sox can trade for up to $3.5 million more in international money. This is absolutely something that they should be doing. White Sox can spend $8.3 million internationally if they trade for the maximum that they can. I'll be very curious to see if they do this.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:55 AM) Yeah. This. They basically are sending Avi Garica for Wade Davis. Soler is still better than Garcia. He has legit in-game power. Put up a 118 wRC+ and a .350 wOBA vs LHP last year. Garcia couldn't dream of doing that.
  23. Eaton is a 6 WAR player: Bader, Flaherty, Kelly, DeJong probably still isn't enough honestly.
  24. Born May 27, 1968: Frank Thomas Born May 27, 1995: Yoan Moncada
  25. The Sox totally f***ed the Nationals last night. KW hates Mike Rizzo. They either leaked to Rosenthal and Heyman or the Nats did after thinking they had something locked up.
