  1. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 09:57 AM) How better to prove your point to Mike than by accepting Anderson and Newcomb for Arrieta and Underwood? JC Ian Anderson, Sean Newcomb, and Patrick Weigel. I'll give you Arrieta and Duane Underwood.
  2. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 09:39 AM) The Cubs are absolutely in win now mode Jed, why would you ship out one of your top starters for two players that are years away from cracking a major league roster??? That leaves you needing to replace two quality starting pitchers -Rizzo Mike, We won the World Series. We aren't giving Jake Arrieta a 7 year deal because of the contracts we are going to sign in the future. We have enough offense and I think we have the prospects to acquire another pitcher on the level of Arrieta with some of those pieces. And we just won the world series, and our fans will get over trading Jake Arrieta.
  3. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 09:47 AM) As is the case with the Dodgers, Blue Jays should also have 3 picks in the first 35 or so (if Bautista and Encarnacion sign elsewhere and Jays don't surrender other picks). That could make them more likely to just pony up for Fowler. Give up their 1st rounder but they get 2 comp picks for their guys. Makes sense.
  4. I think Toronto absolutely has enough for Eaton. I'd require Vlad Guerrero Jr but I like Anthony Alford, Jon Harris, Angel Perdomo, and Rowdy Tellez. Getting a ML starter like Sanchez would be nice though.
  5. QUOTE (South Sider @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 09:34 AM) Hey Jed, I'm not sure if we match up well, but if you have any ideas regarding some of my players, I'm definitely interested in Arrieta and willing to listen. Thanks. -Dombrowski With a potential compensation pick involved, I'd start with needing Michael Kopech in return.
  6. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 09:32 AM) How would that make sense for the Braves John? Arrieta is a one year rental and you should be looking for assets under longer term control than one year with your rebuilding team -Rizzo I have a strong Braves offer for Arrieta. Any other takers? You get 1 year of one of the best starters in baseball and you also get a 1st round draft pick if he leave snext season.
  7. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 09:27 AM) Hi Jed, John Coppolella here. It's no secret that Arrieta only has one year of control left. Therefore, I'll give you Ian Anderson and Joey Wentz. Give me Anderson and Sean Newcomb.
  8. As Jed Hoyer: I'm looking for young cost-controlled starting pitching. I'm looking to trade Jake Arrieta. Make me some offers.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 05:15 AM) Stewart was already fired. I can try Dayton Moore, but he's unlikely to be targeting any White Sox players...maybe Frazier for DH or Jones. I thought about taking Dayton Moore and selling. All those Boras clients with expiring deals. They need to figure out what to do with Hosmer, Moustakas, and Cain.
  10. Take all of this with a giant grain of salt: I have a buddy from Atlanta that is plugged in locally that I talk NFL Draft with. He's a Braves fan. He claims to have a friend that is a scout for Atlanta. He told me that Atlanta can't get Sale because they aren't willing to trade Maitan or Dansby. He said it's Quintana that they are going after. He mentioned Sean Newcomb, Travis Demeritte, and Mallex Smith. That's not enough for Q but like I said this is what he told me.
  11. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 02:08 PM) Seager probably has more value than Sale alone. He absolutely does. Corey Seager is better than Chris Sale. Why would LA do that?
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 11:23 AM) Yep. I think we will make a push too and I am absolutely okay with it as long as we bring in that developmental QB. I also am absolutely okay giving up a second and a future pick for a Jimmy G or maybe seeing if the Patriots are interested in getting Brady a receiver like Alshon in a package for Jimmy G. I am skeptical about using a top 5 pick on a QB in this years draft (not sure what is out there) but we clearly have an immediate need to make a change. If we thought Tony was healthy, I'd absolutely make that move (but we can't ignore finding a young QB to develop under him). Hub ARkush was on yesterday and said that the Patriots asking price for Garoppolo is Two #1's plus other stuff.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 11:04 AM) Who is ready for the Bears to sign Tony Romo in the offseason? I think it's going to happen. He has the EIU connection with Pace. I'd take 2 years of Romo while they develop a young QB. They could still take a young QB high. I think it makes sense because they have another draft and close to $80 million in cap space. A few additions in the secondary and this could be a top 5 unit on defense. They will some win now pieces so starting Romo would be fine. They just need a QB in the pipeline. Some have argued that it's no different than keeping Cutler but I disagree. Romo is better. I've been a Cutler supporter for a long time but it's time for both parties to move on.
  14. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 09:35 AM) I can see them outrighting Kevan Smith, Liriano, Leury Garcia, and Brennan. They would probably add Engel, May, Lamb, and leave some open slots for the draft. If they are rebuilding, there may be some options in the rule V draft for the bullpen, depth at C and the OF. I actually think there's a chance that Smith, Liriano, and Garcia would be get claimed.
  15. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 09:16 PM) If we're rebuilding, I'd make sure to protect Engel, May, Guerrero, & Delmonico. Even if they weren't rebuilding, they'd need to protect those guys.
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 08:06 AM) Tomorrow (Friday) is the deadline for teams to add players to their 40-man rosters in order to protect them from the Rule 5 Draft. Here's a look at who is currently exposed that may need protection, and who is already on-roster that could go. What the Sox do Friday could perhaps be an indicator of direction for the offseason. I would think that Will Lamb, Nick Delmonico, Adam Engel, Jacob May, and Brad Goldberg will all be added to the 40 man. Like it was mentioned, Matt Purke, Brandon Brennan, and Minaya could possibly be outrighted to Charlotte. Avisail Garcia and Brett Lawrie are non-tender candidates. Alfredo Gonzalez is a moveable option as well.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 02:06 PM) I'm 3x that cost. I get that we pay a premium to have great schools and a nice clean village close to chicago, but the bill is always painful. I'd vote for anyone that can figure out how to lower it. As long as tax dollars pay for schools, police, and fire it probably won't go down anytime soon.
  18. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) There may be no QO after the season though, so that diminishes that value. Not really. Value should increase actually. Passan made it sound like new CBA would have system that compensates team that loses player but doesn't take pick away from signing team. It should increase the value of Frazier because there's literally no risk that you might not get a pick for him.
  19. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 02:55 AM) That's a given and so is Lux but I need a given bat that I can plug into my lineup for the next 10-12 years I think Bellinger and Verdugo are those guys. If you get those 2 and Urias, that's a pretty good base to a deal. I wouldn't be surprised if the White Sox want Joc Pederson which would be fine with me.
  20. I could be completely wrong but I think there's a reason why National Writers haven't linked the Dodgers and Red Sox to Sale trade talks. Those are the 2 teams with the most interest. All of the rest of these are leaks for whatever reason. I have no doubt Atlanta wants Chris Sale. They don't have the pieces though. I bet it's the Dodgers unless DD ponies up.
  21. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 11:14 AM) I think ya trade Q because his value will never be higher. I think you trade Sale because it seems like team and he has 3 years of control. I have no reason to believe that Quintana won't remain awesome. If you could get a ton for both guys then I'd deal both. If you can't, then they should trade Sale now and hang onto Q into the season.
  22. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 10:50 AM) You move Q as well. Sale and Q have the most value You don't have to though. He has 4 years of control. Can be moved at deadline. Or next offseason. Or the one after.
  23. QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 08:25 AM) I could see it getting done for a package revolving around Albies, Maitan, and a couple high ceiling arms I don't think so. They need hitters in a Sale deal. The Braves don't have an Andrew Benintendi or Cody Bellinger without giving up Swanson.
  24. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 06:39 AM) Braves would be interesting... Not sure if Swansby would be in play, but Albies, Newcom, Allard and Maitan would be tasty along with a couple other lottery tickets. I don't think they have enough without Dansby honestly
