  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 03:07 PM) I have had a feeling the past two seasons that Alshon dgaf. I just don't think he wants to be in Chicago. He f***ed up and took something. No chance he'd willingly sacrifice $3.5 million.
  2. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 03:33 PM) Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 10s11 seconds ago The Washington #Nats among the latest teams to inquire on #Whitesox ace Chris Sale, but no serious talks with anyone yet This tells me that the Sox have had extensive talks with teams and are now using Nightengale to report the Nationals interest. Sox always use Bob as leverage. I don't think Nationals are a realistic trade partner because they won't give up Turner and don't have enough without him. This is a negotiating ploy.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 11:28 AM) Being totally unfamiliar with the Dodgers system in general, do they have any catching depth? They actually have quite a few guys: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=la Austin Barnes is always the guy that's mentioned. He can play multiple spots though.
  4. I'm in a White Sox group chat on twitter. Over the past couple days, Ozzie Guillen Jr has been in there. He came in today and said that he's heard the Sox are close to trading Sale and Frazier to the Dodgers. That's all he had. No idea if it's true or not. Just thought I'd pass along.
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 10:49 AM) I should clarify - I didn't mean that is non-tendered but more that he is done. The non tender date is December 2nd so they wouldn't have to dump him until then. They're probably looking to trade him. If they don't find a middle reliever prospect with control issues or starter prospect with strikeout issues or athletic outfield prospect who strikes out and doesn't hit for average then they dump Lawrie. Sounds like the White Sox had Brett Lawrie wear some kind of orthotics in his shoes. Lawrie thinks they are what caused his injuries and he's had a falling out with the training staff. He gone in some fashion.
  6. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 06:45 AM) I still fully expect they will keep most of the players and "go for it" again.. Why? Why do people think this? Everyone is reporting that they are rebuilding. We've been beat over the f***ing head with it and I keep seeing this. It's a stupid opinion based on KW still being around.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 08:27 AM) Who is more likely to put up 1.5 war by July 1st, a healthier and cheaper Saladino or Lawrie at less than 100%? Do we know that Saladino is healthy?
  8. I wonder if the Sox wait to trade Frazier. Do they need to see the details of the new CBA prior to dealing Frazier? If a team can receive a QO for him after next season, he is more valuable than if that system is scrapped.
  9. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 04:51 PM) I bet they end up dealing for Verlander. Probably don't have to move Urias or whoever their next best prospect is, but probably a few from just under those guys. Probably makes more sense for them than dealing for Sale to be honest. Bill Shea ‏@Bill_Shea19 Nov 10 I'm not plugged into the MLB trade channels, but a source who is connected to Verlander's camp told me the rumored Dodgers trade is brewing.
  10. Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 2h2 hours ago Sources: Catching market heating up. Jason Castro sitting on offers from at least three AL teams. He's in top tier with Ramos and Wieters.

  12. QUOTE (KG#1 @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 09:31 AM) Adam Rubin ‏@AdamRubinESPN 11m11 minutes ago Bartolo Colon has signed with the Braves, according to multiple reports. Adam Rubin ‏@AdamRubinESPN 7m7 minutes ago Confirmed: Bartolo Colon to #Braves. Adam Rubin ‏@AdamRubinESPN 5m5 minutes ago Braves rotation includes Bartolo Colon at 43 and R.A. Dickey at 42. Colon is getting $12.5 million on a 1 year deal. It's actually a solid deal. Colon put up 2.9 fWAR last year.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 07:56 AM) Your theory is wrong. You want to hedge your bets by taking on more risk. That's not how it works. I'll take Eaton and his contract and his 6.0 WAR seasons and keep him around for when we are ready to go unless someone is willing to pay dearly for him, and makes an offer I can't refuse. Even when they get all these prospects, they are still going to need other players. Ben Zobrist cost Theo $16 million more for one year less and he's getting up there in age. Heyward cost $184 million. Lester cost $150 million. Lackey cost $32 million. If the Sox blow it up, 3 years from now, even if the prospects acquired work out really well, they won't be able to dish out those contracts. Trading Eaton now makes no sense unless you are totally blown away. Completely agree with Dick here. Trading Eaton makes no sense unless it's returning one hell of a haul.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:26 AM) Changes won’t come immediately, but Vice President-elect Mike Pence is promising that some of the laws he believes are anti-Christian will be repealed as soon as possible. In a recent interview, Pence restated his commitment to abolishing birth control mandates and bathroom choice protection for Transgender people. Mike Pence has also been clear that he would like to defund Planned Parenthood, and overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision legalizing abortion, says LifeNews. Pence claims that along with Donald Trump, he will uphold the Hyde Amendment that prevents taxpayer dollars to be used for things that are “morally objectionable.” http://www.inquisitr.com/3698135/mike-penc...oom-protection/ I hate Mike Pence. He's a much bigger problem than Donald Trump is.
  15. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 10:48 AM) Do you mind sharing that conversation? He DMed me on twitter. I asked: Do you think White Sox wait awhile to make first trade. Merkin said: I think there will be smaller trades soon(ish). He didn't elaborate further.
  16. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 08:44 AM) Sale is the linchpin that opens the floodgates. I don't think the rebuild starts unless they're pleased with the offer they get for Sale. Disagree with this. Merkin told me yesterday that he expects some smaller deals to happen soon(ish). I think your impending free agents go regardless of the pitchers.
  17. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) From today's Dave Cameron chat: Interesting, (1) hadn't thought about the QO factor for Frazier, and (2) that Red Sox deal sounds like one I'd gladly take for Sale. It's also why when weighing whether to trade him or not, the Sox need something worth 1 year of Frazier plus a late 1st round pick because that's what they'd get if they let him walk.
  18. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 09:56 AM) What's funny to me is that people are freaking out as if this is some sign that the country has flipped, but really it's the same country with just a minor tweak. If 2-300k more democrats (blacks especially) had voted in Detroit, Milwaukee and Pennsylvania, Clinton still likely wins and no one is talking about White American and the rest of the bulls*** overreaction. Exactly. Trump had 1.1 million fewer votes than McCain in 2008 and 2 million fewer than Romney got in 2012. The problem is: Hillary Clinton got 7 million less votes than Obama got in 2012. It's not a Democrat problem. It was a Hillary Clinton problem.
  19. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 09:12 AM) Thought that was odd too. Unless he is saying in comparison to Sale. I think he's referencing Quintana's contract rather than the trade haul it would take.

  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 11:22 AM) Though it is hard to argue that Chapman and Miller didn't get their teams to the World Series. Without them, do those teams make it? With Cleveland no way. The Cubs? Maybe? That's probably true. Dodgers should ideally let him walk though and have more guys ready to go that are cheaper. I just don't think the value lines up. Those guys can't be used the way they were used in the playoffs in the regular season unless they are used in way fewer games.
  22. Chapman and Jansen are awesome but paying $90 million + for any reliever that throws 70 innings a year is insane. Create relievers by using failed starters. Trade them when they get expensive. Rinse and repeat.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 08:44 AM) If they didn't resign him last winter, they aren't signing him this year. I don't agree. I don't think they will sign him regardless because he's the worst catcher in baseball. He was never going to be back on a team that Robin Ventura managed though.
  24. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 06:06 AM) I have a feeling we only get one of the OF and one of the IF and if any other position players come in the deal, they are farther away. And then 2 of their better young arms. I think that Benintendi and Devers is fair. Add SWihart. Plus Kopech and another arm. That probably gets it done.
  25. QUOTE (beautox @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 09:47 PM) Hahn wanted Betts ++ No he didn't. That wasn't said anywhere. Betts is already better than Sale is.
