User Actions Following Dan HayesVerified account @CSNHayes Zach Putnam and #WhiteSox weighing options. Surgery is one possibility, according to GM Rick Hahn. This is not good. I expect to see Zach Burdi soon. Brian Clark and Matt Cooper being fast-tracked as well apparently.

QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 02:59 PM) What was the last pitch that he struck out the guy on. Looked like a curve, I guess it could have been his changeup. I love the kids that were laughing at his 92 MPH slider.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) Derrick saying he picked #25 for Chicago (honoring his Simeon roots and Benji Wilson) He didn't say it though. They were trying to get him to talk about Ben Wilson. He didn't do it.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 01:24 PM) Not always. At the trade deadline, the competition is other teams selling staring pitching as well. In the offseason the competition is almost every teamwilling to trade pitching as well as the free agents. Fo example, it seems like the market for Sale or Q will be limited because it is going to take a lot to get either one. If Boston decides they need another staring pitcher for the pennant chase this year, they might trade off assets that would take them out of the market for another trade in the off-season. There are more teams looking to add in the offseason than at midseason though. It'd be a way bigger market in the offseason.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 10:33 AM) His BABIP will stay that low because he either pops up, K's, or homers. Nothing in between. You clearly don't understand what BABIP means or how it works. I'll let others explain.

QUOTE (Tony @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 02:04 PM) Totally agree. I really, really hope Stan has learned his lesson with guys asking for too much, the cap is such a tightrope to walk for a team like the Hawks, you really can't make many mistakes, and unfortunately Stan has made a few. But, going to sit back and wait to judge after the off-season is over. You can't look at single moves and judge them right away, it's all part of a bigger puzzle I understand why Shaw would ask for that. 20+ goal scorer with 2 Stanley Cup titles that wants to get paid. He has to know that it won't be here though. The Blackhawks just absolutely cannot and should not do that. I hope he gets moved tonight. Moving Kruger to re-sign Shaw would be a really bad move.

Zack Collins agrees to deal with White Sox

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 11:44 AM) Sox website still lists him as unsigned. He has agreed to terms. I bet he's at The Cell tonight or tomorrow and then off to Winston Salem. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 11:35 AM) I know it's not. It needs to be though. I agree but it doesn't mean they should trade Butler for less than he's worth.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 11:28 AM) Rose = 20mm of cap space next year I understand the Rose thing though. They could have gone into the season with him and traded him at the deadline. Instead they decided to take on Robin Lopez and Jerian Grant. They have to pay Lopez for the next 3 seasons now but I get it. If Rose would have gotten hurt, they would not have gotten anything for him other than the cap relief at season's end.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 11:26 AM) For a full rebuild, needed to ship Jimmy and Taj. I don't blame them for not shipping Jimmy as the deals for him weren't up to snuff. It's not really a full rebuild but they are still going to be pretty bad. I'd rather be really bad than pick 13th next year though.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 11:24 AM) Yes and like I said, they need to get younger. They need to gamble on some young guys that have potential to be better that the old that they currently have. I guarantee that there will be SOMEBODY that was picked in the 20-30 picks that turns out to be a better player than Taj one day. Absolutely. I think PG DeJOunte Murray can be a star. Spurs stole him at 29.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 11:12 AM) So trading Rose was terrible because of the crap they got back (even though they got a legit NBA center and a potential roster player in Grant), but you guys are upset the Bulls DIDN'T trade Taj for, at best, a role player? I'm fine with the Rose trade. I just think they should cash in as many of the veterans on short deals as possible. I don't think Taj Gibson has as much value as some but I'd love to be wrong. But yeah, I think their top priorities at this point should be to try and deal Dunleavy and Taj. They have no future with the Bulls. This isn't a playoff team and they should let the younger guys play to see who they have for the foreseeable future.
-
There is absolutely no reason why Taj Gibson should be on the Bulls to start the season. Portis and Mirotic need those minutes, he's in his early thirties, and is a free agent after the season. By all means though, keep him and try to get the 7th seed in the East.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 10:17 AM) Glad that Jimmy trade didn't go down. Trading him for a #5 pick in a not strong draft would have been horrendously dumb. Could probably get a much better haul at deadline if they decide to. Not a fan of valentine. Thought bulls would take advantage of teams like Hawks/Celts that needed to unload picks. But, Bulls. I don't love the Valentine pick but he's solid. It was a really bad draft. I think the Bulls were smart to not deal Butler. I would have been on board with dealing him but not for the reported offers. KC Johnson said Minnesota offered #5 and Ricky Rubio. Why would the Bulls do that? I don't really think Minnesota has enough without Wiggins. Boston did but decided to not pony up.
-
I'd be fine with dumping Taj and Dunleavy for 2nd round picks and just going super young behind Jimmy. The problem is, they'll have like the 12th pick or something again next year because they'll probably win like 36-41 games or so. I feel like Dunleavy and Taj shouldn't be taking minutes away from Portis, Mirotic, McDermott, and Valentine. Those dudes need to play to see if the Bulls have anything worth keeping.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 09:05 AM) You know, you have absolutely nothing to make you think this will happen except for the entire history of this front office. They actually have a ton coming off the books next year. On CSN last night they suggested these guys as possible targets: Eric Gordon, Arron Afflalo, Brandon Jennings, Marvin Williams, Courtney Lee, and Kent Bazemore. I think they need another big and a starting PG. It depends what they want to do. Ideally, they can sign Brandon Jennings to a 1 year deal. Then you are looking at trading Taj Gibson, Mike Dunleavy, and Jennings in season. The Bulls will have roughly $25 million in space once Gasol opts out. Here is their current roster: G/F Jimmy Butler C Robin Lopez F Taj Gibson PG Jose Calderon PF Nikola Mirotic SF Mike Dunleavy SF Doug McDermott SF Tony Snell PG Jerian Grant PF Bobby Portis SG Spencer Dinwiddie C Cristiano Felicio SG/SF Denzel Valentine Taj Gibson, Jose Calderon, Nikola Mirotic, and Tony Snell are all free agents after the season. The only money on the books for 2017 is Butler at like $18 million and Robin Lopez at $13.5 million. They have some money going forward. Absolutely no idea how they plan on using it though.

I think the Bulls will sign 2-3 role player types and not one big expenditure.

QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 06:59 PM) I think Q is a better guy to move at the deadline if we sell. I would wait until after the season with Sale unless someone is willing to overpay. If he turns in a Cy Young season you can trade him at the peak of his value in the offseason. Neither guy should or will be moved the deadline. You can get more in the offseason
