  1. QUOTE (SI1020 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 11:08 AM) I thought it was a fair question too. This is not a playoff caliber team. After a decade of floundering and 6 losing seasons out of 9 nothing should be left off the table. Whatever the Sox have been doing it hasn't been working. New ownership is not on the horizon. Hopefully new and better strategies are. I like Frazier, but the Sox aren't going to contend this year, there is precious little on the farm so it's time to see if you can do any good with what you do have. Nobody, not even Chris Sale should be off limits. Times are tough. These threads are posted every season. It's not happening. I don't think they'd sell or trade off assets until next year's trade deadline at the earliest.
  2. Todd Frazier's BABIP is 191. Should normalize at some point to his 280 career average. That will be fun.
  3. The White Sox are far more likely to extend Frazier than trade him.
  4. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 31, 2016 -> 08:20 PM) Delmonico hit his first AAA home run tonight. He is looking pretty damn good Delmonico is also playing the OF a bit in Charlotte
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 30, 2016 -> 03:26 PM) Seven losses in a row. Please don't think this is hyperbole. I think before all is said and done we might vie for a top three draft pick this year. Clearly we are one of the worst hitting teams in Sox history. Bad hitting teams with lousy bullpens tend to drop a lot of games. And we have 4 months of baseball to go! Think about it. We're not going to win many blowouts and with no bullpen we are going to drop a TON of the close games we are in. I think we lose well over 90 games. Anybody on board with this thinking? Greg, they were up 7-1, 5-1, and 4-2 in the Royals series. The bullpen holds and it's a sweep. It's absolutely hyperbole. Have you seen the NL?
  6. I think Cleveland is winning the championship
  7. Renter will be interim if the slide continues. I think Sandy Alomar Jr is the manager next year though
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 30, 2016 -> 04:27 PM) The Cell is going to be a morgue this summer. Empty. You'd have to be a moron to support this offense and bullpen. If you like to go to games and stretch out and avoid crowds, go for it. Only exception. Cub series maybe. Half Cub fans at those games probably. I'll still be out there a bunch. It's what I do.
  9. X-Men Apocalypse was good. Wolverine scenes were awesome.
  10. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ May 30, 2016 -> 04:37 PM) I'm in agreement with firing Hahn and KW but you still gotta fire Ventura first, if only to see what Renteria can do as a manager. I would not trust Hahn or KW in the rebuild of this organization. A torches to the ground rebuild needs to happen though. Winning 70- 75 games a year with no end in sight isn't working. Rick Hahn executed the plan that was given to him with the budget that was allowed. Not really sure what else he was supposed to do.
  11. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ May 29, 2016 -> 10:46 AM) sounds like we offered Erik and Tatis Jr. - they wanted Tim Anderson. So it probably leaked once it was already dead as a negotiation I am sure we want to approach this with the 2012 mindset. The deals for Liriano/Youk were low cost to us (Escobar has kind of overachieved a bit though) That is probably the kind of piece we want to move out ----- not Tim Anderson who is a need position and one would think Fulmer/Adams are safe too. It doesn't sound like this at all. Anderson not part of these talks.
  12. I'm stunned that Balta is back during this dark time.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 29, 2016 -> 04:40 PM) It would be Shuck or Leury Garcia for Jackson. Renteria's the clear choice for interim and potential for an extension if he rights this sinking ship. No way in hell it would be Bell. I'd almost like to see KW pull a Dan Jennings and put his job on the line as manager. Now that, at least, would be entertaining. Bourgeois would be my guess
  14. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ May 29, 2016 -> 05:37 PM) Why the rush to do this deal now? Why don't we see if we are floundering in 4th place in 2-3 weeks first. That's where we are headed at this point anyway. There is no way that they are selling. It's not going well but unlike past years, they are 1 GB in a dogs*** division. All 4 teams have flaws. I don't think they even entertain selling until 2017 trade deadline. 112 to play. I expect them to add.
  15. I think the White Sox will take Rutherford if he's on the board at 10. They'd take Ray but he's going to be gone. If Rutherford is gone, could see Zach Collins or an underslot player IMO.
  16. QUOTE (Knuckles @ May 28, 2016 -> 04:47 PM) I'd like some of the more optimistic crowd of the board, (not the game thread folks) to tell me how they feel about Robin and if he's at fault here the last two days. He's definitely not at fault today. He managed some things poorly yesterday but millionaire athletes need to do their jobs properly. Fire him. Don't fire him. People greatly overrate the impact of a manager.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2016 -> 04:46 PM) Why trade now when it's just as likely you are sellers in two months They aren't selling.
  18. I heard Erik Johnson and Fernando Tatis mentioned in return yesterday. Interesting thing about Shields: He can opt-out after season and Sox would receive a comp pick. He's owed $21 million this year, next year, and in 2018. 2019 $2 million buyout.
  19. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 28, 2016 -> 02:22 PM) Please no more Avila and please more Saladino over Rollins I like Avila catching Sale and Rodon.
  20. QUOTE (SCCWS @ May 28, 2016 -> 08:29 AM) Offer Albers and Rollins to SD for Alexei. Why would they want Alexei back? Just play Saladino vs RHP and Rollins vs LHP. Don't hit either of them #2
  21. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 28, 2016 -> 12:30 AM) Did anyone watch the Real World this season? If Jenna isn't the worst person to come on the show in recent memory I don't know who is Maybe the worst person of all time. She has no idea that she is either.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 28, 2016 -> 12:02 AM) Here's the thing. Name any random White Sox former player: Thome Rowand Konerko AJ Crede Buehrle How would they be even less equipped to deal with today's players??? Ventura is respected and keeps the clubhouse calm, but it seems that Jim Thome would do or accomplish the exact same thing. Maybe Rowand would be a little more hyper and chippy, but definitely not Thome or Konerko. AJ, that would be fun watching him trying to get along with Cooper and KW. Black Jack McDowell (who would never be offered the job anyway) would be the other former Sox player with an edge. Unless they went with Carl The Dinosaur Everett in a bid to "mojo back that leadership" they supposedly lost after 2005. If Ventura gets fired, it'd be Rick Renter taking over and my guess would be that they'd hire Sandy Alomar in the offseason
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 28, 2016 -> 02:11 AM) I hate to be a negative prick, but we have no chance in this game. Sox lost all the mojo it had. Yes at one point we were so hot and confident we had a chance to play with KC and beat KC. Now forget it. We are fodder for them. Look for about 5-7 wins against KC this year 12 to 14 losses. Sorry but that's the case. After last night, today is a no brainer KC victory. There is momentum in baseball. KC owns us and has set the tone at 3-1 vs. Chicago in four games this season already. Today should be something like 7-3 or 7-1 KC I know you don't care but it doesn't work like that. It may end up happening but not because it's "supposed" to. Every game is different.
