  1. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 9, 2016 -> 08:10 PM) About all that I think he can improve on is showing a bit more about what he knows about baseball. He's very deferential towards Stone, and I understand why, but I think most of us are simply curious to know what Jason knows about baseball himself. He's the play by play guy though....
  2. What would Jeremy Hellickson cost? He doesn't have great numbers but does have an xFIP of 3.78 and plays on a horrible team.
  3. QUOTE (Dunt @ May 9, 2016 -> 10:07 AM) If Avi keeps hitting, the only things I want addressed are a #3 RHP and SS They still need a LH run producer regardless of what Garcia does.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 10, 2016 -> 09:48 AM) Petricka is not garbage. He's not very good. Definitely the weakest link in the pen. His K to BB/Hit rate is bad. I hate relievers that don't strike people out though. I'd rather have him than Carroll. I don't believe he's good though.
  5. I think 7 years and $175 is a great deal for the Nationals. Strasburg is very good and that's what those guys cost. He could have gotten more on the open market. Should have a front 3 of Scherzer, Strasburg, and Giolito for years to come. I'd love to pry Tanner Roark away from them.
  6. Greg, this whole thing would be much easier if you just said " I think transgendered people are weird, I hate them, am uncomfortable about them being near me, and I don't feel like changing".
  7. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ May 10, 2016 -> 08:17 AM) I listen to The Score interviews podcast, and at least they seem to make an effort to bring on some Sox guests. I'm sure the main body of the shows is mostly Cubs talk, though. I used to listen to ESPN 1000, and they didn't even try. They had Doug Padilla following the Sox, and Jesse Rogers following the Cubs. Rogers had to be on ten times more frequently than Padilla. Now they don't have anyone following the Sox at all. Keep in mind, I live out of town, so I have to go somewhere for Chicago-centric sports news, and SoxTalk is my first stop. Looking at the 670 lineup: Mully and Hanley: Mully and 1 of the producers are huge Sox fans. They talk Sox a ton. Speigel and Goff: Goff is a Sox fan and Spiegel loves baseball and talks both. They talk a ton of Sox. Boers and Bernstein: Bernstein and their lead producer are both Sox fans, the team is good, and they talk Sox. Laurence Holmes: Is a Sox fan and talks a ton of Sox as well. Levine and Bernfield: Talk mostly Cubs on Saturday mornings but Sox tough to ignore now. Hit and Run: They talk the whole time about both times. Joe O is a Cubs fan but writes about Sox in Daily Herald.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 10, 2016 -> 01:49 AM) Why would you be fine with that. There's no telling if he has male body parts but let's say he has not had the surgery and does have a male body part. You would let a 10 year old walk right behind this guy into the bathroom without even telling her to scream loudly if he approaches her in any way? If he's gone through the surgery and now is a woman it might be a different issue for me. Might. But we are supposed to let males in female bathrooms because they feel they identify with being a woman??? You know how many potential murderers there are out there in this day and age? Nutjobs who would indeed put on a dress and heels and still have male body parts and want to stalk. I don't get it. In this society parents now won't let their kids do anything without parental supervision yet because of P.C. they'll let the abovementioned scenario take place?????? Why would that person approach her though? This doesn't make any sense.
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ May 10, 2016 -> 08:08 AM) With The Score turning Cubs, ESPN Chicago is about the only non-Cubs connected station left. 670 talks plenty of White Sox though. We've been over this on the site.
  10. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ May 9, 2016 -> 11:51 PM) 1st place Sox win in extra innings with a Grand Slam (not a walk-off, I know), and on ESPN Chicago, 18 of the first 21 baseball stories/videos feature the 1st place Cubs - who were rained out. I guess that's a fairly even split. They don't even have a White Sox beat writer.
  11. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ May 9, 2016 -> 03:33 PM) These all-city teams get put together each year. Do we want to speculate a little early? Preseason the joke was that the all-city team would be all Cubs. I'm seeing us with six spots: LF: melky CF: fowler RF: eaton 3B: bryant SS: russell 2B: zobrist (tough luck for lawrie, career year type start for him) 1B: rizzo C: navarro (factoring in the great work with latos) SP: sale arrieta quintana lester lackey closer: robertson I'll go against the sabr perspective to put robertson in there. but latos cant go over lackey. every indication is that latos has been a beneficiary of outside forces, whereas lackey has been hurt by them. lester makes it but it should be noted he's been fortunate to be leaving so many on base avisail wins the DH battle as he is running unopposed (though last year his WAR lost when compared to 0.0, so this is progress) Alright tear me apart!! I'd go Eaton RF Zobrist 2B Rizzo 1B Abreu DH Bryant LF Heyward CF Frazier 3B Russell SS Navarro C
  12. The Angels aren't trading Mike Trout
  13. Ballpark atmosphere was awesome. I was in attendance. Nice crowd.
  14. QUOTE (SI1020 @ May 6, 2016 -> 02:20 PM) This certainly won't be popular but I concur. I would also add that although he might not quite be khaki pants talking, he certainly is in the mold of the stereotypical "broadcasting school" voice. In fairness to Jason, I have the MLB package and I find most modern day baseball announcers very forgettable. He was an intern with Boers and Bernstein. Dan mentioned the other day that people told him that Jason needs to stop doing the announcer voice. Dan says that it's his voice. That's how he sounds all the time, even during regular conversations.
  15. So Carroll stays in the pen for long-man duties. When they need a 5th starter again, they can send Kahnle or Carroll to Charlotte and bring up Miguel Gonzalez.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 6, 2016 -> 12:03 PM) Soxtalk is a very liberal forum. There are a lot of people who probably agree with me, that the sight of a guy in drag as you say wouldn't be somewhat concerting/alarming/distasteful. A lot of guys aren't into that. http://www.sheknows.com/living/articles/11...target-bathroom I can't believe in the 2016, in the age of protective parents, agreeing to let guys with male body parts in the same restroom with females. But I'm bad for saying that. Being able to order a sandwich next to someone that looks different than you doesn't make someone liberal. It makes them a decent f***ing human. Good lord. Also, I must have missed where a bathroom and locker room is the same thing. Two very different places.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ May 6, 2016 -> 10:45 AM) I don't think they would ever do it but the Angels really should consider trading Trout. No they shouldn't. They have a bunch of money coming off the books. They'll sign some free agents next year and try to patch it together. You can't waste the prime but you also can't trade the best player in baseball for fifty cents on the dollar.
  18. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 6, 2016 -> 01:30 AM) I expected it, makes for something to look forward to next episode and bring back an audience. I heard that Sarah put out a podcast a couple weeks ago really bashing Bananas (after the season had be filmed). But I don't get how Bananas can be so pissed off about a game move, it is a damn game. Sometimes I think he is just playing this s*** up for the camera. For sure. They should be the best team though. Wes and Nany is a great team too.
  19. QUOTE (AJUribe @ May 5, 2016 -> 10:55 PM) Gave Jason a chance, l'm sorry but he sucks. I turn on music now when he announces. Total nerd, makes lame jokes, only positive is stone gives more insight. Well you should have 162 games each over the next 20 or so years to catch up on your music.
  20. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ May 6, 2016 -> 09:42 AM) Baseball America gave us Corey Ray in their most recent mock. I would be shocked if he's still on the board at 10. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/mock-...XQu1HDq1pcl3.97 They gave the Sox Corey Ray at #10 and LHP Erik Lauer from Kent State at #26. 1. Phillies-AJ Puk LHP 2. Reds-Kyle Lewis OF Mercer 3. Braves- Riley Pint RHP 4. Rockies- Mickey Moniak OF 5. Brewers- Jason Groome LHP 6. Athletics-Nick Senzel 3B Tennessee 7. Marlins- Delvin Perez SS Puerto Rico 8. Padres- Joey Wentz LHP 9. Tigers-Dakota Hudson RHP Miss State 10. White Sox- Corey Ray OF Louisville
  21. QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 5, 2016 -> 10:57 PM) And the answer is Trayce Thompson, Avisail Garcia, Marcus Semien. What is name 3 players out-hitting the "elite" Todd Frazier, Alex. But please trade 4 more young players for another proven veteran, Kenny Hahn. Even though it is a proven counterproductive strategy, it gives fans temporary succor and allows them to "dream again" Frazier has played great defense at 3B and is on pace for another 30 homer season though. To this point: Frazier (1.0 bWAR), Garcia (0.4 bWAR), Trayce (-0.0 bWAR), and Semien (0.5 bWAR).
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2016 -> 12:44 PM) He talks a big PC game, but every once in a while he let's his inner-sexist slip out. It has happened more than once, but... Dan Bernstein ‎@dan_bernstein @MattSpiegel670 I have no rooting interest in her work, but enjoy her giant boobs. 9:41 PM - 25 Mar 2015 I said something similar to one of my buddies about that CSN reporter a few days prior to this happening. I'd definitely never tweet it though and I'm not semi-famous. CSN has done a decent job lately though. Siera Santos has a pretty nice rack too.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2016 -> 02:16 PM) Can't link it but Keith Law in his chat today said he thinks Sox might be on Collins Thanks man. I'll check that out. I think you can though now, no? Aren't his chats on the meadow party.com now instead of the website?
  24. http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=int It's kind of frustrating to see the Braves, Nationals, and Padres linked to all these prospects in a year when most of the big dogs have to sit out.
