QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:53 PM) Why not, the players are supporting him and would love for him to return. The players are publicly supporting him. There is a segment that don't want the kid in the locker room. LaRoche has to know this. Sounds like some real veterans finally came in and realized how weird the situation is.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:47 PM) yep, not going away Andy McCullough @McCulloughTimes Tony Clark said the MLBPA has not yet ruled out the possibility of filing a grievance on Adam LaRoche's behalf with the White Sox. LOL a grievance for what? On what grounds? The best player on the team is pissed because KW made a reasonable request to one of the worst players on the team? This whole thing is incredibly stupid.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:42 PM) Jeff Passan @JeffPassan 7m7 minutes ago The main thrust of Chris Sale's anger with Kenny Williams was that he's not around enough to understand the dynamics of White Sox clubhouse. Someone needs to tell Jeff Passan that veteran players went to Kenny Williams. He didn't just come up with this. I can't tweet right now or I would.
-
Spiegel basically confirmed today that players went to Kenny. The way it was talked about implies veterans. I'd go with Rollins and Avila if I had to guess.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 09:55 AM) They didn't. They agreed to let the kid in the clubhouse. Please provide one story where he is anywhere near Oney Guillen in terms of distraction. Just one is all I need and I will apologize. It doesn't matter. Some players didn't want him in there. It's their clubhouse. They complained to Kenny Williams or whoever and Kenny was comfortable with being the bad guy. That's all this is.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 09:48 AM) My philosophy is not to hate Sox players just because they perform badly. They have to do something stupid off the field. Well congrats to Adam Laroche. You've punched your ticket. KW asked him to tone it down with the kid a week ago, he asked him again a couple days ago, so LaRoche quits, complains to all the idiots in his life that the Sox are persecuting him, and it leaks out. He has his stupid meat company retweeting #FamilyFirst nonsense as if the Sox told him he couldn't see his kid again for 8 months. THEY JUST TOLD YOU TO DIAL IT BACK, DUMMY. Good riddance. He obviously didn't want to be a good player for this team. F*** off forever, dude. I completely 100% agree with this take on the situation.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:49 AM) No it doesn't. Either kids are distractions or they are not. Either they make players uncomfortable or they don't. It makes no sense that this distraction is fine a few days a week, but it is unacceptable every day. Don't change the policy in the middle of spring training, and then have the nerve to say you didn't change the policy. KW could have waited a couple more weeks and then said no more. Drake was around last year. Why didn't he say anything then? He didn't say anything then because nobody complained about then, Dick. That's why this happened. I don't know how many players were uncomfortable with Drake being around but I can promise you it's more than zero.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:34 AM) How would you know if he is a good father or not? Adam said that he doesn't believe in school. He thinks that Drake will learn growing up in a baseball clubhouse and taking standardized tests instead. I disagree. I think he needs to be socialized and be with kids his own age instead of growing up around adults in a baseball clubhouse. I didn't think this stance was that controversial. This entire situation is so weird. Why would anyone want a 14 year old kid around their workplace constantly? I can't believe anyone is siding with LaRoche on this.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:29 AM) Again, I would be fine then if KW just banned kids period. But he didn't. If they are a distraction, this is a half assed effort on his and the team's part. Kids being around isn't a distraction. None of them should be around 100% of the time. Adam LaRoche has an employer. He doesn't get to make the rules. He was given the mandate from the employer and he decided to take his ball and go home. Good f***ing riddance.
-
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:27 AM) I find it disturbing all the cheap shots being taken at Laroche. Not necessarily here, but all over the media. BAD FATHER, KID CAN'T READ..stuff like that. Lot of angry/disturbed people out there. I disagree. I'm sorry that I'm not going to jump on board and praise him for being a great father. He's not a great father.

Mike Wilbon on Mike and Mike right now. He's completely defending the White Sox stance.

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 07:22 AM) I just want to know what changed from last year to this year other than him playing terrible? Was Adam putting his kid over rehabbing his back? And why on March 15th in his second spring training with the team? Again, I think it's weird he would have that type of access, but they allowed it last year, and they put up a locker for the kid, why now? There's two weeks left. They could have just got through the two weeks with the understanding that the regular season will be different this year. And if that was the case (a change in the regular season access), then the Sox did nothing wrong, and LaRoche has the prerogative to walk away--as weird as that may be. Players on the team complained about Drake being there 24/7. They'll never say that though.

The Bears gave the Patriots their 6th rounder back from the Bostic deal. It's basically Bostic and Bennett for a 4th rounder. This gives the Bears 5 picks in the first 127 and 6 of the first 150.
-
This story is dumb. Not only is LaRoche a giant baby, his relationship with his son is weird, almost cult like behavior. Where's LaRoches daughter? Does she go to school? Why isn't she in the clubhouse constantly?
-
Am I dick for disagreeing that he's a great father? Having your kid hangout in a baseball clubhouse and take standardized tests doesn't teach him anything. He's 14. And while I don't really agree with homeschooling either, he should be either home-schooled or at a school somewhere. It's just a really weird thing. Good riddance.
-
QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 02:11 PM) Yep. Even in a traditional workplace, without all of the swearing and naked dudes walking around, I wouldn't want kids there either. It's distracting. Yep. I teach Junior High. This workplace environment would be awesome without kids around.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 01:36 PM) Sounds like the kid was extremely professional and well-behaved, but I don't disagree with the decision. I could understand why a bunch of new players with big personalities wouldn't want a kid in the clubhouse though.
-
QUOTE (Dunt @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 01:33 PM) So he retired b/c they wouldn't let his kid in the clubhouse. Lol. Wow. This is what it sounds like. Kovacevic basically confirmed on twitter. They told him his kid couldn't be in the clubhouse anymore. Good for them if true. There is no reason for that kid to be in the clubhouse.

QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 11:20 AM) and in my defense, hahn waited until last week to move on a ajck, while saying they were some what done. so isn't the grand conspiracy per se but the sox knowingly keep things quite, and with the understanding that Avi can handle the dh job if necessary. not spending the money that may be saved. You don't have a defense in this case. Your point is wrong.
-
QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 08:48 AM) i can see your point but i am in the group of those who is thinking on the skepticism on this idea, of the team not knowing. the only way i may change my opinion if someone in the sox FO or laroche camp admits to it. Rick Hahn already said they didn't expect it. So have all the beat guys. This isn't some grand conspiracy. I'm not really sure what you are talking about.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 08:15 AM) I definitely would not complain about signing Morneau but the big question is would he want to sign with the Sox. I'm on the fence and can see both sides to the discussion of, would he or would he not. I really have no idea. I would kind of prefer to look into trading for a higher salaried pitcher to stick in the back of the rotation. A James Shields' type without the James Shields' salary. Where would this guy pitch though? At Charlotte? They don't have a spot. Latos and Danks are the #4 and #5.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 10:16 PM) We didn't use LaRoche at first much at all anyway, so no loss. I do hope Abreu keeps developing as a fielder as well as slugger. But this really helps the team. Adam can't hit lefties anymore and because of his veteran status he'd have driven us crazy going something like five hits in every 60, 70 at bats versus lefties. Now we don't have to put up with that. Yes it can only help the team having him retire. He wasn't going to have a real bounceback year. LaRoche wasn't going to play against LHP.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) Trump vs Hilary? Yeah I'm going to stay home. I'll probably go Gary Johnson

This is crazy. The White Sox definitely to add a LH power bat now.
-
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 12:53 PM) A rebuilding team looking to add depth could. Think we keep him as a long reliever though. Instead of who, though?
