  1. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) So basically, all we have on the Sox is that Rodriguez guy's tweet. And that's all you are going to have. The White Sox don't leak generally. In situations like this, they don't leak until it's done.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) Only issue I have is so far, there's no proof they are willing to go long-term with any of these outfielders. Nightengale today said Sox only wanted Upton on a short-term deal. Other than Brian telling us that the 3 year thing was nonsense and nobody listened. He could tell us that the White Sox were interested in acquiring Mike Stanton and everyone would believe him but he said that the 3 year thing wouldn't be why they don't land someone and everyone ignored it.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 12:34 PM) Thank you. Do you follow Sox fans on twitter? It's just a terrible place right now.
  4. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 12:14 PM) No he's not, because until Cespedes is signed, there is still hope he signs with the Sox. I agree. The thing that is funny is that whenever there's a report about another team being out (Tigers and Angels Luxury Tax Issues) everyone thinks it's total nonsense and doesn't believe it. But when someone says that the White Sox are only willing o go 3 years and low money, everyone takes it as gospel. It really is quite absurd. Yes, the organization hates all of us. They are being stupid on purpose. This place is a dumpster fire right now.
  5. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 12:14 PM) I can completely get behind this sentiment. 78 wins will be decided improvement over the 76 win campaign of last season I'm looking forward to eating at least a few hot dogs and taking a lap or two around the concourse a few times this season They aren't only 2 wins better though.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 11:54 AM) Why would he get less in AAV than Upton? If I were him, I'd expecting just as much. This is a significant reduction from what Upton got. I think for 4 yrs 90-100M you have a shot at getting him. Upton is the better player and is 2 years younger
  7. QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 11:33 AM) no offense, but i will use this thread for this question is everybody ok with saladino being the sox starting SS???? For 1 season, sure.
  8. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 10:58 AM) If they lose out on Cespedes, give me Jackson and Pearce and call it an offseason. That's 3.3 fWAR you're adding, better D in CF, and a good platoon option with LaRoche and bat off the bench. I'd like this plan as well. Throw in Doug Fister and it'd be a good offseason. vs RHP 1. Eaton RF 2. Cabrera LF 3. Abreu 1B 4. Frazier 3B 5. LaRoche DH 6. Lawrie 2B 7. Avila C 8. Jackson CF 9. Saladino SS vs LHP 1. Eaton RF 2. Cabrera LF/DH 3. Abreu 1B/DH 4. Frazier 3B 5. Lawrie 2B 6. Pearce 1B/DH/LF 7. Navarro C 8. Jackson CF 9. Saladino SS Offense would be better with Cespedes but this allows you to sit LaRoche vs LHP and it improves the outfield defense tremendously while allowing you to keep 3 top 50 draft picks.
  9. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 10:56 AM) Why else do you trade for two players with two years of control? To drastically improve 2 positions in the lineup.
  10. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 10:49 AM) Alright, goodnight: Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 2m2 minutes ago The Washington #Nats and Houston #Astros, each who had expressed interest in Justin Upton, may now turn their attention to Yoenis Cespedes. I'll take the Houston OF that gets moved if they go after Cespedes. Evan Drellich said yesterday that Houston isn't interested in giving Cespedes a long, big $$ deal. I could totally see Washington doing something stupid though. We shall see.
  11. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 10:44 AM) If this were a different situation I would be more patient but they've botched a rebuild, traded 3 top 10 prospects for 2 players with 2 years of control & now are watching teams in their own division get better. They've made the commitment to go "all in", so they need to carry it out. That's my mindset. Did they ever say anything about going "all in" though? Hahn mentioned that it's likely that they'd be adding an OF and that they weren't satisfied with the offense yet. It was also reported that the White Sox would be interested in the OF's on their terms. Then all of a sudden, fans started assuming that they'd be handing out 5-6 contracts which is just not happening. If Cespedes takes a 4 year deal, I think the White Sox are in this. If het gets 5-6, they won't be and they will move on to other options.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 09:38 AM) Hypothetically, if Cespedes' camp told the White Sox FO that they would accept a deal exactly like Upton's, would the Sox do it? Would you guys as fans be ok with it if they did? No chance they will go to 6 years on Cespedes and they shouldn't. That's too long of a commitment.
  13. QUOTE (QuickJones81 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 09:46 AM) My guess is Nunez and Brennan are those two. Yeah probably. I'm higher on Brennan probably. They protected him and if he moves to relief he's going to come quickly.
  14. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 09:17 AM) I don't see the Sox signing Cespedes now. If they truly want to be all in then they should call the Rockies and try to grab CarGo. It will cost them a "real" prospect or two but he's on a 2 yr deal now so it'd fall in line with what they want to do. The hurdle is do the Sox want to give up a guy like Fulmer for him because that is going to be the cost. Fulmer for CarGo would be an awful trade. CarGo is basically a platoon hitter that is owed $38 million. I'd give up prospects that don't matter for him. Not someone in the top 4-5 though.
  15. That Love trade was stupid and I said so at the time. Cleveland would be nasty with Lebron/Kyrie/Wiggins.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 09:45 PM) No. GS is the top dog. I think the Spurs are better and would win a 7 game series.
  17. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 08:46 AM) http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2...agent/78993474/ "Yoenis Cespedes should cash in after Upton's huge deal" If he went to the Angels on a 6 year deal or the Mets on a 1-2 year deal, can we really be upset about it though? If he stays in New York it's because he wants to be in New York. If he happens to get a 6 year deal, the Sox were never entertaining a 6 year deal anyway. Oh wait nevermind. Of course this fanbase will be mad.
  18. There are a couple guys that will be left off the Top 30 that I didn't expect to be. I'll predict the Top 15 as such: 1. Tim Anderson SS 2. Carson Fulmer RHP 3. Spencer Adams RHP 4. Trey Michalczewski 3B 5. Tyler Danish RHP 6. Jordan Guerrero LHP 7. Micker Adolfo OF 8. Jacob May CF 9. Adam Engel CF 10. Courtney Hawkins OF 11. Corey Zangari 1B 12. Chris Beck RHP 13. Amado Nunez SS 14. Brandon Brennan RHP 15. Brian Clark LHP That leaves off guys like: Jhoandro Alfaro, Johan Cruz, Robinson Leyer, Michael Ynoa, Andre Wheeler, Blake Hickman, and Keon Barnum.
  19. I didn't think this board could be worse than twitter. I was wrong.
  20. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 10:08 PM) Well, Upton was the guy I wanted all along. Hurts doubly that he's filling a significant hole on a division competitor. Hurts triply that the contract terms are reasonable. For the first time, I'm really believing that the "three year" bulls*** is real. And it really sucks. If we don't end up with a significant upgrade in RF somehow, this will be the first time since Hahn took over that I legitimately think he f***ed up. Is it Hahn's fault if they aren't allowed to spend though?
  21. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 08:42 AM) I tend to think both home teams win next week, but it's really a toss up. Same for any Super Bowl match up. Hard to pick one team over another. I'll take both road teams actually
  22. I think Eaton will be in RF because Jackson will be in CF
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 17, 2016 -> 09:43 PM) Also would explain why Fowler doesn't seem to be in much of a hurry to do anything He's asking for 4 years and $60 million and has a draft pick attached.
  24. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 06:17 PM) In all fairness Fowler is a switch hitter so he would provide some pop from the left side ( 13 HR as a LH in '15). Also, its been speculated all off season that the outfielder the Sox wanted most was Alex Gordon due to his LHB, OBP, great defense and would have been a good middle of the order bat or even #2 in the lineup. This, despite Gordon being the oldest FA OF at 32. There's no overstating the Sox desire for a LHB. If anything, the Sox spending big money on Cespedes/Upton is what's being overstated by the media. Even after last week when the Sox reportedly turned their attention away from Cespedes/Upton and began looking at Fowler/CarGo, some fans could not let go of the Cespedes idea. Austin Jackson for less $$ and no comp pick attached is a better option than Fowler for more $$ and the loss of a top 30 draft pick. I'd prefer Cespedes. If I'm giving up a draft pick though it's for Upton.
  25. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) Austin Jackson's fWAR since entering the league: 2010 4.0 2011 2.4 2012 5.4 2013 3.0 2014 0.9 2015 2.3 Its not a sexy name, but there is a lot of value in a guy that doesnt cost a pick, plays above average defense, and can run the bases well. Fowler is a hotter name because of his ability to get on base, but I bet they have pretty similar values next season. I would much rather sign Austin Jackson than Dexter Fowler. Jackson lets you keep you the comp pick and gives you another good defender. It could move Eaton to an OF corner. It also allows you to sit LaRoche vs LHP if they also keep Avi. Sox have had weirdly constructed teams before.
