  1. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 01:44 PM) Someone actually created this account on Twitter lol People got the hashtag #cesPAYdes trending on twitter. Fans have been calling and tweeting the White Sox all day telling them to sign him. It's pretty funny actually.
  2. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 09:36 AM) Dan Hayes was tweeting that the Sox (3126741000) received many calls on 7/31 asking not to trade Samardzija (which we either should have done, or we should have traded for Upton/Cespedes), so they didn't trade Samardzija. He's implying that if we call that number asking for Cespedes, then we'll get Cespedes. Take it FWIW, as I don't buy it. The White Sox called me the other day. I asked the girl if they were getting Cespedes. I told her to call back when they did haha.
  3. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 02:49 PM) If you were Ryan Pace and Jaylon Smith is still on the board (assuming Jack, Ramsey, and Hargreaves are off), do you still draft him? I would. No. Not at #11. Smith will go in the 1st round still but Bears can't afford to do that.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 01:24 PM) I think it's only like $900k, at least that's what it was last time he went to Rockford. I read it wrong. They can loan him and pick up the $3 million. Trade seems unlikely, so yes he'll be in Rockford.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 12:12 PM) Bryan Bickell placed on waivers. Again. Clears like $3 million in cap space I believe
  6. It seems to me that the White Sox would sign Cespedes to a 4 year deal. He needs to lower his demands though. The 3 year things isn't true but I don't think they'd want to go 5 years with him. Cespedes is running out of options.
  7. Like I said yesterday, the White Sox should offer Cespedes a 4 year $88 million deal.
  8. White Sox should offer 4 years and $88 million.
  9. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 12:48 PM) Honestly it sounds like a leak from the Sox FO to placate fans. Nightengale is their outlet for that. 3 year thing doesn't placate fans though
  10. QUOTE (Baron @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 12:28 PM) Well after Jesse Sanchez's tweet I think we can consider this whole thing dead. What did he tweet?
  11. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 11:53 AM) Brittany Ghiroli: "Source: Cespedes deal could include an option year beyond guaranteed five years. Hitter-friendly Camden Yards is appealing for him." "Orioles seem serious, esp if they add that option. Nothing is imminent, but Cespedes is at least considering the offer." 5 years and $90 million is below market value. That'd be a good deal for the signing team.
  12. Some Positives: Jimmy Butler is a stud. Portis looks like a rotation player at minimum. The Kings will likely pick 11-16 and the Bulls get the pick. It sounds like management is open to dealing any of Joakim Noah, Taj Gibson, and Pau Gasol.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 08:17 AM) I think that leaves Putnam as the last deal undone for 2016. Jerry Crasnick Verified account ‏@jcrasnick Avisail Garcia of the #WhiteSox signs for $2.1M to avoid salary arbitration. That's entirely too much $$ haha
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 12:24 AM) I'm telling you, we need an upgrade at ss. Anybody out there?? An infield of Frazier, Lexi, Lawrie and MVP excites me as far as potential. An infield of Frazier, Offensive Black Hole/Defensive question mark, Lawrie and MVP is scary. I thought we wanted to contend. To keep Lexi it would have only taken 6-8 mill for one fricking year. I don't understand lest we sign Desmond. I think Saladino is a utility guy but he's fine as a bridge to Anderson. Greg, the White Sox top prospect is a SS. I'd be pretty surprised if they add at the position. They'll go with Saladino until Anderson is ready and it's a fine decision.
  15. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 02:28 PM) You know how you could really dampen the blow of losing that comp pick? Use that difference in money between Cespedes and Fowler and combine it with the amount of money you're losing in that comp pick spot and spend it all next J2. Just sayin. That's "against the rules". They'll never do it.
  16. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 01:47 PM) Does anybody want to put in a guess of what he'll sign for with the Padres? I am going to go ahead and guess a 2yr, 15.5mm deal. 2 years, $12 million.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 01:39 PM) And what would they have gotten before he started to get better after the deadline? .234/.260/.329 at the trade deadline. Not exactly top prospect worthy numbers. 2 live arms in A ball. Doesn't matter. They could have moved him through waivers in August for something. They chose to play him in a lost season and let him walk anyway. It's not a big deal but it really doesn't make sense.
  18. Some of Merkin's twitter replies make it seem like White Sox really don't want to give up comp pick.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) See what he signs for. To trade him they would have had to pick up the $10 million option. That might answer the question. They should have traded him during the season. They obviously knew they weren't picking up the option.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 12:57 PM) In a vacuum, yes, he was successful enough. But the reputation he has? Going to be hard to re-sign/get free agents. Free agents will sign if they offer the most $$. Just like everywhere else.
  21. I don't know why the Sox didn't trade Alexei. I thought he was coming back for sure for the simple reason that they never got anything for him.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) If the White Sox gave up the pick, they still would have their regular entire draft. I've really never thought much about Fowler becoming a White Sox, but what are the chances that pick turns out better than Dexter Fowler? As much as signing Fowler would be a blah type move for me, the surrendering of the pick wouldn't outrage me. You basically would have traded Shark for Fowler. I've explained multiple times how it's not just about the player picked at #26 or whatever it ends up being. It's about the flexibility that having those high picks allows. It's a half-measure. They do this s*** all the time though so nobody should be surprised if it happens again. With that being said, Fowler is a giant improvement from Avisail and the team should be much better this season as a whole.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 12:40 PM) Chip to 9ers. Perfect marriage, a coach that doesn't care about his players joins an organization that doesn't care about their coaches. NFL is a better place with Chip Kelly in it though. He doesn't have perrsonnel power which should help. That dude went 26-21 with Foles, Sanchez, Vick, Bradford, and Barkley as his QBs
  24. QUOTE (shysocks @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 12:25 PM) I would rather have Fowler than Avi + the pick. Continually giving up draft picks for minor upgrades isn't the way this organization will sustain success. Fowler would improve the team. Hell, it may even be enough to put this team in contention. But giving up 3 draft picks in the last 2 years with a bad farm system isn't a good recipe. It sucks actually.
  25. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 12:26 PM) Per Olney the Reds are taking offers for him. The Sox have been long thought to have interest in this guy. I'd rather trade minor pieces for Jay Bruce than give up a top 30 pick for Fowler.
