  1. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 07:35 AM) I didn't say I believed it. I just said I had a hard time believing IF they offered that. I think the Sox are at 4 years and he wants 6. And that's fine. I just don't know why it keeps getting mentioned. It's a negotiation tactic. The White Sox know that they can't get Cespedes on a 3 year deal. There's absolutely no reason to keep regurgitating it.
  2. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 07:13 AM) I just have a hard time thinking the sox are a finalist only offering 3 years. I could see the mets because they were just in the World Series. They aren't only offering 3 years. Why do people keep believing this?
  3. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) LOL, I had him #13. I was high on Clark, Guerrero (highest), Carlos Perez, Antonio Rodriguez and Jordan Stephens (highest). I was low on Hawkins (per usual), Adolfo, Alvarez and Lowry. Guys like Brennan and Lowry could move really fast once they become relievers officially.
  4. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 01:33 PM) Thank you. Guys with QO's left are Dexter Fowler, Ian Desmond, Howie Kendrick, and Yovani Gallardo. So with that, Sox could draft as high as 24, correct? Best case would be Fowler to Orioles and Gallardo to a team like Houston. That puts the Sox at #26. I can't see anyone giving up a 1st rounder for Desmond or Kendrick at this point.
  5. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) Regarding the Angels, I've been wondering about them but their beat said yesterday they don't want to go over the luxury tax. Now that could change on a dime. And the White Sox dumbass beat reporters have all said that the Sox are most likely done as well
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 12:30 PM) Close to it, yeah. Danish all 5's and 6's, Guerrero 6's and 7's with one 5. Just for fun, prospects who had the widest range of opinions among the writers: Zangari, Clark, Alvarez, Peter, Lowry, Perez, Narvaez. Relatively anyway. Also, players who had just one of the seven writers in the discussion actually place them in their T30: Wheeler, Heidenreich, Cherry, Alfaro, Comito, Reyes, Goldberg, Leyer, Delmonico. That's how messy the back end was. I take ir raBBit put Brain Clark in the top 10?
  7. The White Sox estimated bonus pool for the 2016 draft is $9,477,248.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 11:16 AM) If the Sox do sign Cespedes, I want it to be in the next ~25 minutes so my friend and I can celebrate in study hall together. If twitter were around when I was in high school I never would have made it to class
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 10:17 AM) I think Jim Bowden said the 3 finalists thing today As for my opinion, Nats seem to be in to raise the price for the Mets It's a Jim Bowden report. he said Nationals, White Sox, and Mets are finalists.
  10. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 09:52 PM) whitesoxdave ‏@barstoolWSD 36m36 minutes ago Goddamnit the white sox better sign Cespedes The guy people were using as a source earlier during Cespedrama is seemingly just a fan. raBBit went over this. Don't people read? Dave's source was an agent buddy of his. It was going around amongst agents that White Sox and Cespedes had a deal. It was planted by agents to get the market started. Dave didn't lie. He just got bad info.
  11. QUOTE (Saufley @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 03:20 PM) I believe a Cespedes signing would help with the attendance and fan base but, wonder what affect in $$ and actual numbers? I really don't think Cespedes would help attendance actually
  12. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) So basically, all we have on the Sox is that Rodriguez guy's tweet. And that's all you are going to have. The White Sox don't leak generally. In situations like this, they don't leak until it's done.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) Only issue I have is so far, there's no proof they are willing to go long-term with any of these outfielders. Nightengale today said Sox only wanted Upton on a short-term deal. Other than Brian telling us that the 3 year thing was nonsense and nobody listened. He could tell us that the White Sox were interested in acquiring Mike Stanton and everyone would believe him but he said that the 3 year thing wouldn't be why they don't land someone and everyone ignored it.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 12:34 PM) Thank you. Do you follow Sox fans on twitter? It's just a terrible place right now.
  15. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 12:14 PM) No he's not, because until Cespedes is signed, there is still hope he signs with the Sox. I agree. The thing that is funny is that whenever there's a report about another team being out (Tigers and Angels Luxury Tax Issues) everyone thinks it's total nonsense and doesn't believe it. But when someone says that the White Sox are only willing o go 3 years and low money, everyone takes it as gospel. It really is quite absurd. Yes, the organization hates all of us. They are being stupid on purpose. This place is a dumpster fire right now.
  16. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 12:14 PM) I can completely get behind this sentiment. 78 wins will be decided improvement over the 76 win campaign of last season I'm looking forward to eating at least a few hot dogs and taking a lap or two around the concourse a few times this season They aren't only 2 wins better though.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 11:54 AM) Why would he get less in AAV than Upton? If I were him, I'd expecting just as much. This is a significant reduction from what Upton got. I think for 4 yrs 90-100M you have a shot at getting him. Upton is the better player and is 2 years younger
  18. QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 11:33 AM) no offense, but i will use this thread for this question is everybody ok with saladino being the sox starting SS???? For 1 season, sure.
  19. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 10:58 AM) If they lose out on Cespedes, give me Jackson and Pearce and call it an offseason. That's 3.3 fWAR you're adding, better D in CF, and a good platoon option with LaRoche and bat off the bench. I'd like this plan as well. Throw in Doug Fister and it'd be a good offseason. vs RHP 1. Eaton RF 2. Cabrera LF 3. Abreu 1B 4. Frazier 3B 5. LaRoche DH 6. Lawrie 2B 7. Avila C 8. Jackson CF 9. Saladino SS vs LHP 1. Eaton RF 2. Cabrera LF/DH 3. Abreu 1B/DH 4. Frazier 3B 5. Lawrie 2B 6. Pearce 1B/DH/LF 7. Navarro C 8. Jackson CF 9. Saladino SS Offense would be better with Cespedes but this allows you to sit LaRoche vs LHP and it improves the outfield defense tremendously while allowing you to keep 3 top 50 draft picks.
  20. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 10:56 AM) Why else do you trade for two players with two years of control? To drastically improve 2 positions in the lineup.
  21. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 10:49 AM) Alright, goodnight: Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 2m2 minutes ago The Washington #Nats and Houston #Astros, each who had expressed interest in Justin Upton, may now turn their attention to Yoenis Cespedes. I'll take the Houston OF that gets moved if they go after Cespedes. Evan Drellich said yesterday that Houston isn't interested in giving Cespedes a long, big $$ deal. I could totally see Washington doing something stupid though. We shall see.
  22. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 10:44 AM) If this were a different situation I would be more patient but they've botched a rebuild, traded 3 top 10 prospects for 2 players with 2 years of control & now are watching teams in their own division get better. They've made the commitment to go "all in", so they need to carry it out. That's my mindset. Did they ever say anything about going "all in" though? Hahn mentioned that it's likely that they'd be adding an OF and that they weren't satisfied with the offense yet. It was also reported that the White Sox would be interested in the OF's on their terms. Then all of a sudden, fans started assuming that they'd be handing out 5-6 contracts which is just not happening. If Cespedes takes a 4 year deal, I think the White Sox are in this. If het gets 5-6, they won't be and they will move on to other options.
  23. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 09:38 AM) Hypothetically, if Cespedes' camp told the White Sox FO that they would accept a deal exactly like Upton's, would the Sox do it? Would you guys as fans be ok with it if they did? No chance they will go to 6 years on Cespedes and they shouldn't. That's too long of a commitment.
  24. QUOTE (QuickJones81 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 09:46 AM) My guess is Nunez and Brennan are those two. Yeah probably. I'm higher on Brennan probably. They protected him and if he moves to relief he's going to come quickly.
  25. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 09:17 AM) I don't see the Sox signing Cespedes now. If they truly want to be all in then they should call the Rockies and try to grab CarGo. It will cost them a "real" prospect or two but he's on a 2 yr deal now so it'd fall in line with what they want to do. The hurdle is do the Sox want to give up a guy like Fulmer for him because that is going to be the cost. Fulmer for CarGo would be an awful trade. CarGo is basically a platoon hitter that is owed $38 million. I'd give up prospects that don't matter for him. Not someone in the top 4-5 though.
