  1. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 19, 2015 -> 02:11 PM) excellent point on the bold, i was going to write something about that tomorrow. but hey, as it stand will the fans spend money to buy season tickets or weekend ticket pkg or what??? b/c you know, the highers ups in the sox org will think that they did enuf for fans to come out and buy tickets. If front office gets 1 of the 3 big outfielders, then the fans should show up honestly. This team should be in the AL Central race and maybe even the favorites if that happens. I won't be buying a ticket package but I'll sure as hell be at about 15 games
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 19, 2015 -> 04:33 PM) Melky struggled vs. lefties last year as well. Not like LaRoche, but not very good. I know. Which is why getting 2 RHH OF's makes sense.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 19, 2015 -> 04:28 PM) If they sign Upton or Cespedes, there is zero chance they sign Austin Jackson. And that's fine. That's what I'd do though. They still need a player that keeps LaRoche on the bench vs LHP and it may as well be an OF so that Melky can DH
  4. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 19, 2015 -> 04:25 PM) No because he has no value. Keep him one more year. And do what with him? Play him at Charlotte? He has no place on the major league team if they plan on winning something
  5. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 19, 2015 -> 04:22 PM) Trading Avi for some pitching? Or some used catching equipment.
  6. QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 19, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) I wonder if RV might use Abreu in the 2 again. Eaton CF Abreu 1B Cespedes RF/LF Fraizer 3B Melky RF/LF or LaRorche DH Lawrie 2B Melky or Laroche Catcher platoon Saladino SS I remember reading an article about having your best hitter bat 2nd. Also balances out the lineup a bit more. Cespedes doesn't play RF. I think Upton is the best fit. If they signed Upton and someone like Austin Jackson they could do this: vs RHP 1. Eaton CF 2.Cabrera LF 3. Abreu 1B 4. Upton RF 5. Frazier 3B 6.LaRoche DH 7. Lawrie 2B 8. Avila C 9. Saladino SS vs LHP 1. Eaton LF 2. Cabrera DH 3. Abreu 1B 4. Upton RF 5. Frazier 3B 6. Navarro C 7. Lawrie 2B 8. Jackson CF 9. Saladino SS

  8. QUOTE (MDWhiteSoxFan @ Dec 19, 2015 -> 03:46 PM) Is there a time when a guy with a QO can be signed without giving up the pick? Like does that go out the window once the season starts or Spring Training? After the draft in June
  9. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 19, 2015 -> 01:14 PM) I'm still amazed the Reds dealt Frazier for what they got... Worked out fantastically for the Sox but surprised the Dodgers didn't just get him & leave the Sox out. Well Peraza is a top 50 guy. They just love him more than some teams. Schebler doesn't seem that great but he'll start in LF for them. Sox didn't give up any long-term starters either.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 19, 2015 -> 12:58 PM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 24m24 minutes ago Sources: #Nationals moving on from Phillips, pursuing other options. Kendrick could be one; a trade could be another. Murphy low priority. Should Murphy have taken the QO? I just can't see teams lining up to give him $$ and forfeit a draft pick to do so.
  11. Baffoe: Rick Hahn’s Moves Show Control, Direction Of White Sox: http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/12/18/baf...n-of-white-sox/ This is great stuff from Tim. It highlights that fact rebuilding is a dumb idea with the youngish core that the Sox already have. The AL is also wide open. It also tells KW to stop undermining his GM. Good stuff.
  12. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 11:14 AM) How much would he have earned in Arb? Looks like more sentimentality I didn't think trolling was allowed on the site....
  13. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 10:45 AM) What did his contract look like? Arb eligible and under control for how long? Nevermind I found it. Looks like they bought out 2 arb years and added 1 season of control. I like it.

  15. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 09:12 AM) Ken Rosenthal just said on MLBN that an O's beat writer said that the O's aren't spending 100 million+ on a player other than Chris Davis. So now, that is the Angels, Giants, Cardinals, and O's now out on the big OFs. That leaves the Sox, Nationals, Tigers, and Royals that have reported interest in the big 3 OFs. I doubt that the Angels are out.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 07:27 PM) http://touch.latimes.com/#section/626/article/p2p-85342200/ Trade from Dodgers' perspective. Looks like Micah will be LH platoon partner with Kiki Hernandez at 2B (they didn't trade for Frazier directly because they were fearful Justin Turner's knee wouldn't hold up at 2B), Thompson figures as the 4th/5th OF (defensive replacement/PH) and then Montas could end up in the pen, AAA rotation or part of a package of/for Fernandez, Tyson Ross or one of the young Indians' starters. They have Utley for that role. They're going to spin Micah somewhere else.
  17. QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 07:10 AM) If we acquire another outfielder, with Thompson gone, I'd prefer Shuck to Avi, as the 4TH outfielder. Sending Garcia to AAA to work on his game makes sense. When facing a left handed starter, the Sox could move Melky to DH, sit La Roche and put Shuck in LF. Although he didn't hit LH pitching well last season, in his very limited at bats, Shuck normally hits LHP just fine. In fact, his career numbers are actually better vs LHP, than vs. RHP, which is unusual. Of course, he doesn't have much pop, but if the Sox acquire a power bat for the outfield, they won't need a power hitter to platoon with La Roche. Shuck is also a decent outfielder. It should be a RH hitting OF that plays good defense as the 4th guy. Someone like Austin Jackson. This would allow you to rotate the DH spot among the OF's vs LHP
  18. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 10:12 PM) Question is, would they rather have Melky at DH or Avi in DH in that situation. Where does LaRoche go? Ideally, they sign Upton and someone like Austin Jackson (this is rabbit's idea and I'm stealing it). That gives them tons of flexibility and allows them to sit LaRoche vs LHP. I don't know where Avisail goes but he's gone in this scenario
  19. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 03:12 PM) Chicago disagrees. http://www.robertfeder.com/2015/11/24/wadd...aluable-to-mvp/ But you are right, Carmen is the only one at ESPN that is a Sox fan. However, most of the producers over at 1000 are Sox fans. I'm just not really a fan of the ESPN product as a whole. I don't need Waddle's opinion on anything other than football. I was pretty much done with ESPN1000 when McNeil left. Carmen/Silvy was my favorite radio pairing ever however.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 01:44 PM) With the White Sox off of the Score, I have no idea why anyone listens to that garbage anymore. I still think Boers and Bernstein is the best radio show in the city. It's weird that it's so Anti-Sox because they have the most Sox fans at their station I believe. Bernstein, Goff, Mully, Laurence, Tannehill are all Sox fans. I think DeFalco is the only Sox fan on 1000.
  21. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 01:19 PM) Alexei won't sign till Ian Desmond off the board. Desmond may not sign until June. Can't see many teams itching to pay him and give up a pick.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 11:28 AM) When the Cubs signed Zobrist, did anyone mention his defense dropped by 25.9 dWAR. Of course not Bernstein did. He's always been a big Zobrist fan but he was worried about the length of the deal and paying for past performance
  23. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 11:24 AM) Still need another bat or it was a waste IMO. 2 years of Frazier/Lawrie isn't enough time to hope we don't still have black holes in RF/LF/DH/SS/C - not to mention Lawrie isn't a sure thing. Have to capitalize on potentially not having an embarrassing offense for once and not be half in half out. They don't have black holes in LF or at C though. Melky has to be better or they probably won't contend. Catcher platoon should be better than league average if they are healthy
  24. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 12:14 PM) Bold #1. This needs to happen now. Bold #2. I was close, and our deal was even better. With the number of daily mock off seasons you've done, it was bound to be close at some point
  25. Surprised to see anyone upset. This is a great trade. Frazier is an impact offensive player at a position of need. White Sox gave up Montas (back end reliever), Micah Johnson (2B with no defensive upside), and Trayce Thompson (4th OF). They didn't have to give up Tim Anderson or Carson Fulmer. If I would have told people 2 weeks ago that they'd get Brett Lawrie and Todd Frazier for TT, Montas, Micah, Wendelken, and Zack Erwin, most people would have thought that isn't enough. The White Sox got better today.
