  1. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 01:06 PM) You're probably one of the people in denial about Montas likely being ticketed to the bullpen in the near future aren't you? I'm not in denial about anything. Montas needs to command the fastball and come up with some semblance of a 3rd pitch if he ever wants to be a big league starter.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 03:38 AM) Sweet can we beat South Elgin?? Yes! I love my Crusaders. It's 17-14 in 2nd qtr. Both teams will put up 40. Greg, you can watch the game on The Cube online usually but this game isn't available. Pat Disabato is @disabato on twitter and is covering the game.
  3. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 10:46 AM) We don't know what Shark could have gotten, but before deadline when we were winning, there was a tweet saying sox had a deal in place with SF for Shark but wanted to wait and see. I think it was the next day Giants got Leake for their number one prospect Keury Mella. I believe that's who we could have gotten. Mella will end up being a reliever. The pick the White Sox will receive is a better return than that.
  4. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 09:57 AM) And he's correct. Another reason the Sox shouldn't sign a FA with a QO. There are few who fit in our price range anyway. Yeah it is correct, actually. I didn't know that. Sox would have to forfeit their comp pick which makes it even less likely that they'd sign a free agent with a QO attached. Here's the rule: http://mlbplayers.mlb.com/pa/pdf/cba_english.pdf It also means that the White Sox comp pick for Samardzija will likely be in the 20's. No way that they forfeit that pick. Let's say that 6 teams lose their 1st round picks for signing QO free agents. That means that the 1st round will be 1-24. The White Sox would then receive the 27th pick in the draft for Samardzija. The Sox have the 2nd worst record (behind SD) for teams offering QO's. That means that the Sox get the 3rd pick in the comp round behind the picks that will be rewarded for Upton and Kennedy.
  5. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 08:55 AM) Yeah, I honestly thought the same thing. And quite frankly, the difference in value between a high-end comp pick (if it indeed goes by record) and the 10th or so selection in the 2nd round is pretty significant. I'm really hoping your right here. The rules say that you'd forfeit your next pick if your 1st is protected. The "sandwich" picks can't be lost though. I'm almost sure of it.
  6. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 06:36 AM) Dan Hayes is suggesting we'd lose our comp pick from Shark if we signed a free agent that received a QO. Anyone know if this is true? I didn't think so. Yanks and other teams have done this before where they lose 1st, 2nd, 3rd and then still get a comp pick because their player left. I think the Sox lose their 2nd rounder regardless. I guess I could be sarong though.
  7. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 07:02 PM) Wouldn't be surprised if its the Pirates due to their need at first base. They have Josh Bell knocking on the door though. I bet it's Colorado.
  8. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 06:37 PM) This David Freese talk has me throwing up. I don't see him as the answer at 3B at all. It's 3B. There is no answer. He doesn't cost a draft pick. That was my main concern.
  9. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 04:45 PM) I think Dierkes has been drinking Cameron's booze. Have a look. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/11/2015...redictions.html If Freese can be had for 10M per year then I say go for it. But Kendrick, Freese and Cabrera in one off season? I doubt that very much. I'd be fin with 3/30 for Freese. I want no part of Cabrera or Kendrick though. I'd rather sign Avila for cheaper and bring back Alexei.
  10. Levine has already reported that Samardzija will decline.
  11. No QO for David Freese. 2 WAR 3B. Not sure what the cost will be.
  12. QUOTE (shysocks @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 12:04 PM) He had us getting OF Chris Young last year too, which would also have been a good move. Wonder if he has a source in the front office who likes Young. Young was originally a White Sox prospect. He was traded for Javier Vazquez.
  13. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 10:30 AM) http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2016-top-50...nt-predictions/ Cameron has the White Sox bringing back Alexei Ramirez on a 1 year deal for $6 million. He also has them signing Howie Kendrick, Chris Young (OF), Alex Avila, and Mat Latos. Here's the same thing basically from Baseball Prospectus: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article....articleid=27844 The writer does his predictions and has a random computer generator as well. The computer has the White Sox signing Justin Upton, Chris Davis, and Howie Kendrick. Okay then.

  15. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 01:47 PM) Do you think they'll give Beckham a Qualifying Offer? Absolutely not. Why would they do that?
  16. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 12:20 PM) Oh that only applies to player options? Then this whole discussion is moot anyway. I really just got bored at work (first full time finance job stuck at a desk all day) and it crossed my mind. Back on topic: Alexei will re-sign with the Sox. Yeah. I think Royals can give QO to Gordon after he declines player option. Team cannot decline team option and then offer QO.
  17. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 12:15 PM) If he rejected a QO he would have trouble finding work in 2016 because no team would give up a draft pick to sign him. They can't decline his option and then offer him a QO anyway. Doesn't work that way.
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 09:23 AM) Nope. If Kershaw pitched in the AL, there's no way he'd have multiple seasons with an ERA under 2. He'd still be better than Quintana, though. Kershaw is the best pitcher in baseball. It's not really that close either.
  19. Bill Simmons had an idea on twitter: Joakim Noah to the Celtics for Avery Bradley and Tyler Zeller. I'd make that deal.
  20. QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 12:00 PM) How realistic do you think this trade would be? Quintana for Devon Travis, Dalton Pompey/Anthony Alford, and Max Pentecost I don't think that's enough for Quintana.
  21. Does anyone have Kenny Williams' quotes from today? He basically said offseason plan isn't in place yet but it's up to Hahn. So now Kenny isn't running everything? I guess Rick finally graduated.
  22. I think they would have traded him if he weren't coming back in 2016.
  23. They aren't moving on though. He'll be back for less $$. He wants to be in Chicago.
  24. I'm not really surprised. My dad is a Will County cop and most people there speculated it would end this way.
  25. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 01:48 PM) Not sure HF will get by Loyola the previous week. That Bolinbgbrook loss raises a red flag. Although Loyola seems to like to choke big games. I've coached against HF for years. Scouted them multiple times this year. I'm taking them. I may be wrong but I can't pick against that team. Loyola is really, really good. They don't have that type of team speed though. HF is a monster.
