  1. The Marlins are a f***ing joke. The Dodgers are flexing their big market muscles and just buying picks. Each year, the Marlins are rewarded a "Competitive Balance" pick and each year they trade it. LA will most likely just DFA Morse and take the financial hit.
  2. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) He can play some 2nd; play some DH. What's the downside? Lose a month of defensive development - okay, but it's worth the upside of having a good hitter on board who can actually steal a base (in contrast to Bonifacio who was inept at it). He won't DH though. If he were RH I could see it. LaRoche will be playing against every RHP. It's fine to sit him against LHP but I wouldn't want to slide Micah in vs LHP necessarily either. I think they are going to let Micah tear up Charlotte some more and trade him in the offseason.
  3. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 08:59 AM) How many utility infielders to Cooper/Ventura need? Beckham is enough. Bring up Micah. the problem with Jones is that he has exactly TWO strikeouts in 14 innings of work. Where is Micah going to play?
  4. I think it'll be Nate Jones and then in a few days Leury will come back for whichever reliever goes.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 01:13 AM) Perez started out the year hot and has cooled offensively. It seems his defense and caught stealing percentages have fallen off a bit...that's a pretty weird stat, considering he made the All-Star team and not very many argued much about it. Once again, goes to show the overall weakness of the position in the major leagues, with some obvious exceptions like Posey, Molina, Russell Martin, Yan Gomes (when healthy), etc. wOBA of .297 with an .OPS under .700. Defensive WAR is carrying him despite his 15 homers.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 08:59 PM) If you compare cores, though....Moustakas, Cain, Escobar, Perez and Hosmer, all in their primes, there's not much of a comparison. We have Eaton, Abreu and Cabrera (31 next year). Yes, Medlen and Hochevar are struggling, but that's to be expected your first half season back when recovering from TJ surgery. They were both brought on board with 2016 in mind, although the jury's out on whether the Royals will want to pay Medlen $10 million (mutual option). Zimmer is a work in progress and has battled injury problems, that's true as well. The other key factor to consider is that the Royals have long-term solutions for C, 3B, SS and CF, the four most important positions on the field right now to find impact players in this offensively-challenged environment. All four of those guys, along with Hosmer are equally good offensively and defensively. Avi Garcia at his best isn't the equal of Cain or Eaton for this very reason. We have Adam Eaton. Crazy stat. Salvador Perez 2015: 1.3 WAR Geovany Soto 2015 season: 1.0 WAR
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 12:57 AM) Cargo would be good for this team beyond just this year. He might not be the hitter he once was a few years back and he might have health issues, but he's a huge upgrade over Avi. This I agree with. I want them to take Danks deal back though. Danks, Avisail Garcia, and maybe like Thaddeus Lowry. We'll pay CarGo salary but they pay Danks. Keep Samardzija and call up Erik Johnson to take Danks spot and activate Nate Jones
  8. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 11:24 PM) Several radio guys after the game today mentioned multiple times that our farm system is "barren" and that we had nothing down there to trade. It might not be super deep or loaded, but we're definitely middle of the pack, right? Radio guys in this town know nothing about the White Sox system. I think White Sox are somewhere between like 16-23 as far as systems go.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 10:31 PM) Would they really bench Infante for Zobrist once Gordon comes back? That ironclad defense/team chemistry might take a little bit of a hit. He's gonna play leftfield now with Cain in center and Rios in right. Omar Infante has an .OPS of under .600. Ben Zobrist has put up more than 5 WAR in every season since 2011. Yes, they'll probably bench Infante.
  10. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 10:59 PM) Tyler Flowers and Robinson Leyer for AJ. Why would the Sox want AJ back? As long as Ventura is the manager, AJ won't be on the team. Sox catching situation is fine for now anyway.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 08:31 PM) Anderson didn't play tonight.... Was it after the Bonifacio injury? Any chance he's going to Charlotte with Leury coming back?
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 08:31 PM) Anderson didn't play tonight.... Kenny is in charge after all......
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 07:20 PM) Nope, that's only if you move the DH to the field. Yeah I remember now. Thanks.
  14. Bonifacio is the DH tonight. They can pinch hit for him in his next appearance but I think the pitcher takes that spot afterward.
  15. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 07:10 PM) Tommy Viola ‏@Tommy_the_V 8m8 minutes ago .@KnightsBaseball's Erik Johnson with three scoreless innings tonight. He has allowed just one earned run over his last 44.0 IP. Tommy Viola ‏@Tommy_the_V 3m3 minutes ago .@KnightsBaseball's Erik Johnson with four scoreless innings tonight. 17. I love Jordan Guerrero. Really underrated prospect that's getting some love.
  18. Today, MLB.com updated their Top 30 Prospect Lists. Here is the White Sox: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2015?list=cws In their top 100 list they listed: Tim Anderson (45), Carson Fulmer (50), and Frankie Montas (63)
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 12:57 PM) Unless we are dumping Danks, no thanks. Even better that it rhymes. I agree with this. I'd do it if they took Danks contract back in return. And I wouldn't give them much else.
  20. The Blue Jays absolutely have the ammo to get Quintana. Daniel Norris, Aaron Sanchez, Anthony Alford, and Dawel Lugo for Quintana and Putnam.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 01:25 PM) edit: deleted everything I wrote. I agree. But having endured the beginning of this season, I feel like 81-81 or better means that: -Saladino stayed good -Sanchez may have finished with .240 or better average - Melky stayed good -Pitching stayed good That would make me pretty optimistic for next year, as opposed to a 73-something finish. 81 wins would be an 8 game improvement. I'd take that.
  22. So it's Tulowitzi with 5 years and $100 million remaining and LaTroy Hawkins to Toronto. I actually like the package that Colorado received and I'll like it more if they can flip Reyes for more prospects. I've always loved Jeff Hoffman. Miguel Castro may be a bullpen piece but he's got a great arm and Jesus Tinoco is anther high upside young arm. The Rockies should trade CarGo and Blackmon next.
  23. I want Soto to play as well but he's starting tomorrow night so I understand him not starting today.
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 01:42 PM) I've heard the reasoning behind Texas's interest, still so weird to me. I don't think it's weird at all. Hamels is a bargain compared to what other guys will get and he's locked up for 4 more years. He's an ace and is owed $23.5, $23.5, $23.5, and $20 or a $6 million buyout. So it's either 4 years at $90.5 or 3 years at $76.5. A hell of a lot cheaper than paying Price, Zimmerman, or Cueto.
  25. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 04:06 PM) I'd rather have Pompey than Alford — he's more advanced. He's not as good though
