  1. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 27, 2015 -> 04:41 PM) many people down here, including my sister is talking how good the movie max is and the dog as great. Yeah I heard the dog might win best actor at the Academy Awards
  2. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ Jun 27, 2015 -> 12:02 PM) I don't like it. Makes the middle/bottom of order even more of a black hole. It gives their best player the chance at more at-bats though. I like the team's best hitter in the 2 hole.
  3. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 10:45 AM) Also the dick way of doing it, not that he picked another school. Illinois fans are delusional if they thought Alexander was going there in the first place though.
  4. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 09:32 AM) I don't Cliffy got karma back on him. Karma for what? The hat thing? Illini fans are petty. The kid is 19. I can't believe people are really happy to see bad things happen to him. It's kind of sad actually.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 04:47 AM) I kinda feel bad for him. This bogus thing at Kansas cost him PT and made him go pro before he was ready. Yeah I agree. I hope the Bulls give him a shot in summer league. He never really did anything wrong. He's a tweener and may never be that good but if he weren't required to attend college in the first place, he'd be in the NBA right now.
  6. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 02:44 AM) I think the Sox are going to sell at the deadline and that could bring them prospects back but the team could realistically get the third pick in the draft, which would be huge as it bestow the team with the third highest spending pools in both the draft (Bonus pool should be close to $10M) and international market (Bonus pool should be around $4.5M). Of course teams could always trade for more pool space and draft picks, they could offer Shark an QO and get the comp pick. The comp pick that Atlanta got in exchange for Ervin Santana, 28th overall pick had a value of $1,974,700. By making a series of trades the Braves were able to acumulate a bonus pool of over $10M which was the fourth biggest after initially having the 14tg largest pool. So even if the team didn't make your expectations, there is a sikver lining and in this case, this silver slining could do wonders to the organization's foundation going forward. Opinions like these actually make this thread one of the better ones annually in my opinion. Many people have a problem with the idea of rooting for losses and I completely understand. It makes you conflicted as a fan. This post sums it up nicely though. It would be very beneficial. Good stuff, Joshua.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 10:16 AM) Sure, why not? Let's ride the declining old veteran hitter death train until it crashes! I think you are going to be disappointed though. There's no way they go completely young and sell off everything of value. J.R. will be planning on winning in 2016. Regardless of what we think or want.
  8. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 09:28 AM) They're saying Hanley is worse in LF than Manny was, and they're saying it's because he refuses to care at all. Oh yeah I know. I'd never ask him to play LF though.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 09:20 AM) Everything about Hanley Ramirez offends me as a baseball fan. Bringing him into this situation right now makes things worse, not better. The on-field play of our current team offends me. I usually gamble on talent. I understand your points though.
  10. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 01:20 AM) I would rather have Randle and Okafor then Cousins Really? That's an awful defensive front court though. I know Cousins doesn't play much D either. Are we positive that Okafor will be Cousins offensively though? Cousins is a knucklehead but he's so good.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 09:16 AM) I have had this exact thought in the back of my head. The Sox did sniff around Sandoval before tapping out fairly early due to the cost. Would the White Sox be interested if in a Hamilton or Prince type of deal where the Red Sox send a boatload of cash along with Sandoval for some prospect package? I've never really loved Sandoval. Hanley is a selfish player but he can really rake.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 09:13 AM) Knowing the White Sox, a package will contain some combination of 3 things: 3B, C, and SP. For sure. Their top guys are Max Stassi © and Colin Moran (3B). They are both putting up .OPS around .600 though. Moran was a former top 5 pick and Stassi was highly regarded but they've been pretty bad.
  13. Would anyone on the board be interested in Hanley Ramirez or Pablo Sandoval? They have a lot of money left on their deals. Is it something the Sox should consider though? Hanley could come to Chicago and play at 3B occasionally or DH. Would Boston take back Danks/Ramirez to be rid of Hanley? How much $$ would they have to eat for White Sox to deal?
  14. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 08:26 AM) Appel, Phillips and Nottingham for Samardzija. Would the Astros do it? How about JD Davis, Nottingham, and AJ Reed for Shark. I was just looking at their prospects. Moran and Stassi have been bad. Jeez.
  15. QUOTE (shysocks @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 08:47 AM) Hey, just curious, this is totally not related to anything in particular, but is there any way to block a thread from your view? You could just not open it?
  16. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 07:59 AM) Does that include signing Viciedo to a $4+ large contract and then releasing him a couple of weeks later? Viciedo got like $700,000.
  17. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 05:11 PM) That's all you got? Why is he good? Yeah that's all I've got tough guy. I like his game. If he sneaks into the mid teens, I'd be fine if the Bulls went up and got him. I'd also be fine if they stayed at #22 and took a player. Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers today.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 05:14 PM) 0.5 games worse and they've played 1 more game, to be fair. But yeah, they might be in about as big of a mess as us...although they do have a whole lot more young contributors to sub in as a way to try to fix that in the next few years. And they just spend over mistakes. The White Sox won't and can't do that.
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 03:58 PM) Why? Because he's good and the Bulls need a backup PG.
  20. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 02:21 PM) The Milwaukee newspaper reported it this morning. If anyone wants espn insider stuff on the draft pm me with an article link. Cameron Payne to the Bulls would be awesome. They'd need to get up pretty high though.
  21. I didn't read any of this but Dave Cameron is the smartest guy in the room. All you have to do is ask him. f*** him.
  22. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 09:40 AM) Thanks for the buzz kill Joshua. Hopefully the 2015 Cape and the 2016 college/prep seasons produce some hitting talent for next year's draft. If not, then the Sox draft another future front of the rotation stud with their inevitable top 10 draft pick. If the draft is loaded with pitching and those are the best guys available, they will probably keep taking pitching.
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 09:38 AM) It's got major problems. Having a character clause isn't one of them, in my view. Man I totally disagree. I want the bets players in. Not the best players who are good guys as well. Should they pull every dirtbag out of the HOF?
  24. QUOTE (harkness @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 09:45 AM) Saves are arbitrary and uninformative... Well agents, managers, GM's, coaches, arbitrators all must be crazy (since this is how Closers get paid). Did Andrew Miller get paid for all the saves he has in his career? No. He got paid because he's awesome. Robertson is a really good pitcher.
