  1. Rick Hahn deserves to be fired but he had nothing to do with not signing Manny Machado or Bryce Harper. Those are ownership decisions.
  2. Good defense. Hitting .276/.384/.386 with a 113 wRC+ in AA. Walks at an 11.6% clip.
  3. Disagree here actually. Hackenberg is changing the narrative right now. Definite prospect. Especially as a catcher.
  4. They didn't want to trade Tim Anderson and his owner and boss instructed him to add James Shields. Hahn meant rebuilding in regards to organizational direction I believe but I still wouldn't be surprised if Rick Hahn isn't the GM of the White Sox next year.
  5. This puts the White Sox at $9,517,800. Just under the 5% overage total. Smart strategy.
  6. I’m sure everyone goes to ACL for a tune up but most of college guys should be in Kanny. Gonzalez, Harris, Park, Nishida and maybe Galanie should all be in Kanny. Keener, Gordon, Peppers and Wright for sure.
  7. Large market clubs aren’t eligible to pick in the top 6 in consecutive years. It’s weird but the highest Washington can pick is 10th.
  8. Good thing for Sox too is odds like go up regardless because Washington isn’t eligible for the lottery
  9. Thanks. It was interesting for sure.
  10. Lucas Gordon is getting $300K. That puts the White Sox at $9,207,800 before the totals for Franklin, LaCombe and any other overages on day three. They can go to $9,526,000. They won't do that but they're definitely over the pool.
  11. Right now, the White Sox are around $8.9 million spent. They can go to like $9.5 million. They've spent over every year but may not utilize it this season very much. Still need bonus for Lucas Gordon and Franklin plus any overages on day 3.
  12. Rikuu Nishida will get $170K. $20K against pool.
  13. He's in Kannapolis because that's where everyone is going to sign. My bad, guys. He'll be in ACL
  14. I love that pick. Quick mover who can start. Bargain at that price IMO. This bonus leaves the Sox right around $1.6 million to play with. George Wolkow is signing officially tomorrow. He's in Kannapolis. I'm guessing he's getting close to $1 million. Gordon is probably $150-$200K. $10K or so for Franklin. That would allow them to do like $250K each for Nishida and LaCombe if they need to as well.
  15. I wrote about the draft class for FutureSox. Lots of Mike Shirley quotes here: https://soxmachine.com/2023/07/2023-white-sox-draft-recap-shirley-leads-process-behind-well-rounded-class/
  16. There are lots of rumors linking Chris Getz to Northwestern opening. Just not sure if he’s interested
  17. Jacob Gonzalez, Calvin Harris, Park and Nishida should all go to Kanny
  18. I bet Montgomery moves on Tuesday
  19. I think he's a starter. They think he's a starter. He might not be overslot. I could see it being like $900K though which would be over.
  20. It seems like Calvin Harris, Christian Oppor and George Wolkow will all be overslot signings and Seth Keener might be as well. I’m also expecting Nishida and LaCombe to receive more than $150K.
  21. Thinking about it just now, I’m guessing that the league wanted to guarantee that the worst 3 records who are eligible would at least be guaranteed to pick 7-9. That has to be what it is.
  22. Totally agree with you. The rule makes no sense. I’ve asked everyone the same thing.
  23. So here’s the rule essentially: large market teams are ineligible for lottery in back to back years if they picked top 6 basically. Small market clubs no more than two years in a year. Basically, Nats and Rangers can’t pick top 6 next year. If Washington finished with worst record in the league, highest they can choose is 10th. It helps the Sox but there’s basically no incentive for Sox to be intentionally bad next season
  24. It bothers me that they went by record because Washington literally isn’t allowed to pick higher than 10th next year.
