  1. QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 08:55 AM) A little surprised at Soto but I guess he's straight up Shark's personal catcher? Yeah I thought he was going to be Samardzija's catcher most days.
  2. QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 08:26 AM) The only time I ever lowered my standards and went to Wrigley urinal was to watch him pitch. when I got home, my uncle found out about it, poured charcoal fluid on my shoes and lit them on fire. Your uncle sounds like a very stable human.
  3. I don't want Robin fired and the struggles this season aren't his fault but if he calls for a bunt again in the 9th with runners on 1st and 2nd, I'd consider that a fireable offense. Good lord stop that madness.
  4. QUOTE (Bruce_Blixton @ Apr 16, 2015 -> 08:36 PM) Very true and I hope they have this philosophy for the first 5-7 rounds, but I wouldn't mind seeing them drafting some high ceiling/big bonus high school position players outside of the first 10 rounds. Much like they did last year with Bryce Montes de Oca but with a position player instead. They won't have the money to do this unless they go way under slot in round 1.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 16, 2015 -> 10:26 AM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0415-story.html Ramirez injury/bullpen depth issue could push back Bryant's debut from Friday. Almost no chance they start Bryant at Wrigley this weekend. I fully expect him to be in the lineup Monday at Pittsburgh
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 07:02 PM) There's just a shocking lack of offensive potential in the farm. The gap from Anderson to next best offensive prospect is huge. Thankfully the pitching depth is very good. A huge reason for this though is the lack of players that the White Sox signed via international scouting. They still need more time. The farm is much improved but most teams are littered with offensive types from international scouting and the Sox just aren't. Those classes have been better and they have another coming but these guys are 16-19 currently. The guys that would be ready to play A ball are non-existent still from the Wilder era. I may be wrong about this and please tell me if I am but this seems like one reason.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 12:36 PM) I only saw two linked to the Cubs Well that is true. He mentioned that they had many targets though.
  8. QUOTE (brett05 @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 12:36 PM) He was just drafted so his service time (ala Bryant) is next season. Sox don't play that. Rodon will be up when needed. This is not true. It has also been detailed many times on the site. He can come up this weekend and Sox control his rights for 7 ML seasons (Including this one).
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 11:25 AM) Kiley McDaniel is going to give an update tomorrow for July 2nd prospects. He also is updating his mob draft list. Here is McDaniel's detailed update: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-interna...-market-part-1/ Says that the White Sox are believed to have an agreement with 6'3 235 pound RF Franklin Reyes for $1.4 million. Looks like the Cubs will be extremely active again. I wish the White Sox would use the same strategy.
  10. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 03:05 PM) Is that your opinion? Everything I have read about Williams is that he is the most versatile defense lineman in the draft and that his strength would be to playing upright going downhill. Yeah it' my opinion. We don't totally disagree though. I think Williams is the best player in the draft, I just don't think I'd classify him as a pass rusher. He's probably a 5 technique in a 34 front and could play multiple spots in a 43 front. Richard Seymour comp on the high end.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 09:50 AM) I, too, am surprised the Yanks didn't just add 10 million to the total contract offered by whomever. Especially since they wound up giving Andrew Miller (also awesome, don't get me wrong) almost as much. They use Miller-Betances in the bullpen and picked up a 1st round pick in the process. I get it.
  12. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 11:07 AM) Interesting that they didnt meet with the best pass rusher as part of due diligence. He's not the best pass rusher. He's a 5 technique. Beasley/Fowler/Ray/Gregory/Dupree are the pass rushers
  13. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 14, 2015 -> 10:34 AM) Probably just doing their due diligence, in case he does fall or a trade up scenario.... Ron Jaworski I believe yesterday said that the Bucs like Mariota more than Winston now. Everyone still thinks Winston will go #1. It's just due diligence. Bears have met with like every top 10 guy other than Leonard Williams so far.
  14. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Apr 11, 2015 -> 04:02 PM) His ceiling is that of Mark Reynolds. That's said, he'll be lucky to ever reach it. I didn't know CJ Wittman posted on the site......
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 13, 2015 -> 01:15 PM) I really don't know why a team trying to get a stadium built would trade it's signed long-term face of the franchise. Longoria isn't going anywhere. Thinking he's available is as proposteurous as the guy in Boston who thought the Red Sox were owed Chris Sale. Trading him could actually be the smart play though. Do you think people would go to a new stadium to see 1 star player? I'm not trying to argue, I've just never understood that sentiment. Rockies and Phillies could benefit from dealing Hamels, Lee, Utley, Cargo, Tulo. I've seen the excuse that the fans go to watch those guys play. I'd much rather have the return and the possibility of a better baseball team instead of going out and seeing a bad team play that has "stars" on it. I know it's a different scenario from Longoria but if they could get 5-6 players? I'd consider it.
  16. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 13, 2015 -> 11:53 AM) I don't think this is the season the Sox should mortgage the future but given his contract, Adrian Beltre would probably be the easier player to acquire. The AL West is going to make it awfully hard for an injured Rangers team to be in the picture these next two seasons. I thought the same thing and almost posted it earlier. Aramis Ramirez as a possibility as well?
  17. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 02:45 PM) I do as well, however, I think with a better supporting cast, Hackenberg will be the #1 QB next year. Hackenberg Cook Jones Boykin Prescott Hackenberg, Cook, and Kessler will be the top 3. Watch Goff from California and Kiel as well. Prescott isn't an NFL player.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 12, 2015 -> 10:23 PM) Not downplaying 05 as it was the best. After that, I really thought we'd dominate the division for a while. People were talking that way. Didn't happen. We've pretty much sucked balls since then. Similar to the 85 Bears. One hit wonders. That's incredible. I worship Mark, but what was he thinking? Do they have kegs out in the bullpen? I know they got em in the clubhouse. Buehrle was drinking during the game with Garland. I think this is fairly common; especially for a starting pitcher that won't be playing that day. Once it got way into extra innings, he went down to the bullpen and closed the game out. I thought everyone knew this story?
  19. I wish Robin would tell these guys to start hitting and stop pitching poorly. LOL at blaming the manager for this. It's like people are just watching baseball for the first time. FIREANDTHEPASSION!!!
  20. I liked it better when the team was bad and I didn't hate myself for coming in here. Good lord people.
  21. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 03:39 PM) LaRoche is certainly trying to earn his right to be a soxtalk whipping boy early on here LaRoche is a notorious slow starter.
  22. This morning on the "Kap and Haugh" show David Haugh said that Ventura and Molitor have something in common: They are both managing in the shadow of Ron Gardenhire. I thought this was interesting. I'm not one of these people blaming Ventura and I generally think he's fine. I don't think Gardy is a fit though. He would lose his mind dealing with Chicago media every day and he has absolutely no interest in using analytics/metrics. Doesn't seem like a Rick Hahn move. Most likely just dump speculation on Haugh's part. Thoughts?
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 09:27 AM) If you happen to go to a game and try something, I want to read what you think about it. Give me a good reason to go get something, or avoid it. Brooks Boyer was on with Mully & Hanley this morning and said a new Taco Barn was opened that everyone needs to try. Combine that with a helmet full of ribs and a walking taco, and I am strongly considering ditching work and going to try and sneak in the park at lunch time And if you had something last year feel free to put your critique down as well I get the Tex-Mex Burrito every time I go so I will most likely try the tacos on Sunday. My favorite new item from last year: The Chicken and Waffle Sandwich. Can be tough to finish off at the ball park unless you go stand somewhere or sit down but it's stupid good.
  24. QUOTE (hi8is @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 11:43 AM) This. Has absolutely nothing to do with having fire. Starting pitching wasn't good enough, they are bad defensively, and Kansas City pitched pretty well. They are a bad matchup for the Sox. Minnesota is exactly what this team needs right now.
  25. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 7, 2015 -> 02:20 PM) I'm 23, guess I'm not cool lol. Who are we linked with/favored? Well that tweet says that Yes the White Sox are linked to people but McDaniel hasn't listed those names yet.
