  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 09:02 AM) Lynch is willing to be likeable if there is money involved. Whatever. I know the press is a drag, but pro athletes need to realize they wouldn't be getting paid what they are getting paid if it weren't for media, etc. People want to know things. You want to act like a jerk, fine, but eventually that catches up to you. Dealing with the media, answering questions, is part of the job description. If you don't want to do that, go make $10 an hour somewhere and tell your new boss you don't want to talk to the clients. See how that goes over. If every player acted like him, I doubt many would be fine with it, and I am sure there would be several less zeros on the balance of their bank accounts. I disagree with part of this. I generally think that people don't want to know things. If you want to hear thoughts from Marshawn Lynch, well I have some s*** to sell you. Not only do I not want to hear from Marshawn Lynch, I don't want to hear anything from any of these guys. Play the damn game. I hate SB week.
  2. There are still some interesting names out there for the White Sox: Brandon Beachy, Burke Badenhop, Mike Adams, Alexi Ogando, Joe Beimel, and Everth Cabrera.
  3. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 27, 2015 -> 04:06 PM) Jones probably will go to strong side line backer and rush the passer. I actually think they will run a lot of "50" front stuff in year 1. It's basically just an under front with a stand-up SLB as another pass rusher. I think that guy is acquired with the #7 pick in the draft.
  4. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 27, 2015 -> 09:37 AM) Interested in who you guys think should be lower or higher. The best part of the FS list is seeing how this site falls in love with certain guys (Cleluis Rondon comes to mind) and becomes really bearish on others (i.e.Chris Beck) and then comparing the outliers to the big time publications. I think Andrew Mitchell is too low but I value ceiling more than most people. The list also indicates that 3 of Jace Fry, Jake Peter, Adam Lopez, and Onelki Garcia won't be on the list. I'd rather see any of them than a guy like Andy Wilkens who is a non-priospect in my eyes. Obviously just my opinion though. I think guys like Luis Martinez, Nolan Sanburn, Michael Ynoa, and Adam Engel could take giant steps forward this year and I'm really glad to see Trayce Thompson so far down the list. It means good things for the system. Great job, guys.
  5. I'll go ahead and predict the 1-15. 1. Carlos Rodon LHP 2. Tim Anderson SS 3. Francellis Montas RHP 4. Micah Johnson 2B 5. Spencer Adams RHP 6. Tyler Danish RHP 7. Courtney Hawkins OF 8. Trey Michalczewski 3B 9. Carlos Sanchez INF 10. Matt Davidson 3B 11. MIcker Adolfo OF 12. Chris Beck RHP 13. Jacob May OF 14. Clueulis Rondon SS 15. Jace Fry LHP
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 24, 2015 -> 12:44 PM) As far as I've seen, he's not a non-roster invitee. Matt Eddy ‏@MattEddyBA 24h24 hours ago #WhiteSox sign CF Engel Beltre to minor league deal. He's a terrific defensive player but also a career .248/.296/.361 hitter at Double-A.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 24, 2015 -> 06:44 AM) I think the idea that hiring a QB coach that has had that position for like 10 years as some placation of Cutler, or even the hand-wringing over it, is ridiculous. I'm fine with keeping Cutler but I don't believe in getting rid of him without a replacement. I don't think it's placating but I do think it means he'll be the Bears QB. Which like I said, is fine with me.
  8. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jan 24, 2015 -> 01:09 AM) Care to elaborate? Sure. He and Cutler are personal friends. I believe that Loggains is also a good coach. He was in Tennessee as the QB coach for 5 years or so. In Lovie's last season, Cutler wanted Loggains as the Pass Game Coordinator and QB coach working with Tice. Tennessee blocked the move. Loggains went on to become the Titans OC the next year. Last year, he was the QB coach in Cleveland. Now he has finally made his way to Chicago.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 08:42 PM) I hate Ed Farmer so much. LOL he said having a closer in Robertson could mean 15 extra wins haha
  10. Bears hired Dowell Loggains as QB coach. Cutler isn't going anywhere.
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 08:54 PM) http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/geovan...hite-sox-roster Soto is probably the favorite. Opening Day bench- Bonifacio, L Garcia, Shuck, Soto Viciedo moved before then. I think it will be Saladino over Garcia.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) Hahn on the Score at 11. Probably be a bunch of interviews all weekend. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/audio/670-the-score-interviews/ Not listening but 670's tweets are intriguing about the interview. I'll have to listen to the podcast.
  13. In my opinion, if Scott Carroll starts a game for the 2015 White Sox, something went terribly wrong.
  14. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) I don't think there's a spot for him. I feel like you have to take the best 7 and I just don't think he's one of them. Is Carroll better than: Robertson, Petricka, Guerra, Webb, Putnam, Jennings, or Duke? If Crain is healthy somehow that leaves another spot. Not to mention guys like Onelki Garcia and Cleto. I take my best 7. Carroll isn't one of them. He starts in Charlotte or goes to another organization.
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 03:48 PM) Well likely need Carroll as a spot starter this year so that's good he's back. 4th OF options are a little disappointing. I don't think there's a spot for him. I feel like you have to take the best 7 and I just don't think he's one of them.
  16. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 08:48 PM) If everything works out a perfectly, a bullpen consisting of Petricka, Putnam, Guerra, Duke, Crain, Jennings, and Robertson seems damn solid to me. You also have guys like Cleto, Montas, Jones, Carroll, Surkamp, etc who could possibly be in the fold as well. It's nice to have a plethora of options. Daniel Webb?
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 04:08 PM) https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/558385047687163905 Good. Because he's a starter. Nice girlfriend. http://instagram.com/p/yK5tLKNBk3/ You can tell he's a rookie if he's bringing his GF to Soxfest. Fanfests are notoriously "ripe" for the players. It's why so many of them enjoy going to these things.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 06:07 PM) Ugh, just skipping through this crap and can't find it anywhere here: http://chicago.cbslocal.com/audio/the-spie...-mannelly-show/ It's under the Boers and Bernstein part: http://chicago.cbslocal.com/audio/boers-and-bernstein-show/
  19. Sorry guys. You can merge this into the original thread. I couldn't find it when I searched for it and it's right there on the front page. My bad.
  20. Supposedly the Blue Jays are moving closer to naming Dan Duquette of the Orioles as their President and CEO. Kenny Williams was rumored for this position early in the offseason. This is never going to happen but Jeff Hoffman is one of the names being thrown around on twitter as possible compensation to the Orioles. That is nuts. My hypothetical to Soxtalk: Would you trade Kenny Williams to the Blue Jays for Jeff Hoffman?
  21. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jan 20, 2015 -> 10:34 PM) Yea i agree. They don't have anything in the pipeline that projects to be as good as our current stars. Maybe Bryant can match Abreu? I dunno. I think Abreu separates himself from Rizzo substantially this year though. Rizzo is younger, LH, and much better defensively though. Abreu is a monster but you have to account for that. Rizzo is a really good player. That trade value column from Jonah Keri this offseason listed them at 6/7 respectively I believe. Can't go wrong with either guy.
  22. I was just coming to create a thread about this. He would cost a comp pick but at this point it'd only be a 4th rounder. Here is a good synopsis of the possible Shields market from Fangraphs: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/finding-a-p...-james-shields/
  23. Callis listed the top 10 LHP prospects in baseball today. Rodon at #2 behind Urias. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/106938006/20...handed-pitchers
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 10:52 AM) I just want to know why the refs didnt catch any of it. 2lbs isnt a little bit. That is an obvious difference They didn't catch it because they have too much other s*** to worry about in the micro-managed modern NFL. There are so many bulls*** rules to keep count of, how can the officials possibly worry about everything?
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 10:22 AM) Thinking back to the penalties New Orleans got hit with for their bounties, I think the penalty should be people in the organization getting suspended. Kick Belichek out for a year, like happened to NO. If you find out anyone else was involved, suspend them as well. Are they going to kick other QBs out of the league though? Guys do this every week. QB's get the balls aired up to their liking and basically force the officials to call them on it. This goes on a ton.
