  1. John Fox's best friend in the business is Sean Payton. From 99-02 with NYG Accorsi was GM, Fox DC, and Payton OC. Fox to Bears makes a ton of sense.
  2. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 09:20 AM) If he did it for the cash, well that's one thing. Falcons have a built in offense, something he never had in NY. They need work on defense, but they have the 8th overall pick and a full draft to get better. They are also in one of the worst divisions in the league. I don't know, but it seems like a perfect fit. Atlanta does seem like a nice fit. Dimitroff didn't want to hire Rex Ryan though. So instead of being strung along, he took the Buffalo job.
  3. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 09:12 AM) I can't figure out why Rex Ryan took the Buffalo job. Isn't that pretty much the Jets about 5 years ago? Great defense with no QB and no first round pick this year. I'll take Matt Ryan and the Falcons defense rebuild any day over that. Well he thought that Atlanta wanted to hire someone else. SF was going in another direction. He didn't truly want to work in tv. Buffalo offered him $27 million and he took it. That's what happened.
  4. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 10, 2015 -> 09:30 AM) If the Bears go 3-4, there very well could be. OLBs Shane Ray (Missouri) and Vic Beasley (Clemson) could be very good edge rusher like Aldon Smith. With that said, we really can't think of any players yet because we don't have a Head Coach. It'll also be interesting to see how they turn over this roster. Is Marshall done? Jennings? Pace got a 5 year contract because the Bears liked his long term plan. In my opinion, I really hope the Bears try to trade some of the veterans (Marshall, Cutler, Allen, Jennings) and just start the rebuild. Randy Gregory, Bud Dupree, and Dante Fowler are also top notch pass rushers. Very deep class at the position.
  5. I think it's about that time guys, especially with the Bears picking 7th.
  6. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jan 10, 2015 -> 08:16 AM) No surprise by the cubs predictions since they have always been media darlings anyway. Besides, I like the idea of getting their fans hopes up just to have those hopes come crashing down. I give them credit for taking many steps in the right direction but until those youngsters show they can produce at the big league level, they have their hands full with teams like St.Louis, Milwaukee, Pitt and even Cinci. Cubs still need a better rotation too. As for the Tiger, I think their reign is over. IMO, the Sox or Indians win the ALC in 2015. The Cubs are going to be a really fun team to watch. They aren't ready yet though.
  7. I saw Selma tonight and it is excellent.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 9, 2015 -> 11:35 AM) Anyone ever get forced to watch The Bachelor and/or do you hate watch portions of it to annoy your wife who's a big fan (me)? If so, this recap will make you LOL. http://www.tvmywifewatches.com/2014/01/the...icially-on.html That is hilarious. Thanks for posting.
  9. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 9, 2015 -> 09:16 AM) A reporter from New Orleans felt that he had been sought out and offered more jobs over the past couple of years but he always wanted more control than was offered. Ted Phillips is the President of Football Operations while not making moves or evaluating talent he has a role and the GM reports to him so he is a layer of management that has some over-site along with the Board over the GM This isn't really true though. Ted Phillips doesn't make football decisions.
  10. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 9, 2015 -> 08:44 AM) Did he really say that? No. That was a fake tweet.
  11. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 10:38 PM) Radio talk seems to indicate pace turned down a few gigs and bear job is total control and ideal place for him. Seems like a great move. Yeah of course it's full control. Phil Emery had full control as well. Ted Phillips and George McCaskey aren't making football decisions and they don't want to be making football decisions. Harry, you didn't suggest this but in general, I don't really understand where those thoughts come from. Ryan Pace is essentially in charge of Football Operations for the Bears as the General Manager.
  12. As of now if Carlos Sanchez is starting 2B, I think bench is: Bonifacio, Shuck, Saladino, and Kottaras/Brantly. Obviously they could add a different OF or INF for cheap though still.
  13. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 02:18 PM) So Viciedo is definitely staying with the team then Not true at all. Could keep Bonifacio to backup in CF and Shuck to play an OF corner. Or even sign someone else. Viciedo will be gone.
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 6, 2015 -> 09:37 AM) I know there are players in the Hall that did steroids and other PEDs already, that's why I would be willing to put in Clemens and Bonds. But I would also use my instincts and common sense not to go overboard on the amount of players from that Era going in. So for the players that made their debut from 1984-1995, I would put in: Roberto Alomar Jeff Bagwell Craig Biggio Barry Bonds Roger Clemens Tom Glavine Ken Griffey, Jr. Derek Jeter Randy Johnson Chipper Jones Barry Larkin Greg Maddux Pedro Martinez Fred McGriff Mike Mussina Mike Piazza Kirby Puckett Manny Ramirez Mariano Rivera Alex Rodriguez Ivan Rodriguez Curt Schilling John Smoltz Frank Thomas Jim Thome That's 25 from a 12-year period. I can look at this group and feel these are the best-of-the-best from the Era. Some juiced, some didn't, some we'll never know. But it looks good to me. That's a good list. My bad dude. I misread your initial statement.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 5, 2015 -> 01:03 PM) Like I said, I would put in a proportionate amount of players from the Era in. If a person is willing to vote for guys on roids, then it probably starts with Bonds and Clemens. Then Piazza and Bagwell. Biggio, Pedro, Randy Johnson, Smoltz, Mussina, Schilling. If a person actually has room on their 10-man ballot for Sosa and/or McGwire, I don't get it at all. You have no idea who did and didn't though. That makes this argument stupid. There are already guys in the HOF that have used PED's.
  16. I think Chris Ballard is the best candidate of the guys that are being interviewed. He does seem like more of the same though.
  17. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 5, 2015 -> 05:08 PM) Well, except it's the Home Opener, not opening day, and Danks is pitching, so the excitement won't be as high. My buddies and I are doing the 7 game plan, and we have a choice for the Home Opener, or a Cubs/Sox game, and we are all taking the Cubs/Sox game. It might be Noesi pitching if they go LRLRL

Gotham is back tonight. The Challenge starts tomorrow. Oh yeah buddy.
  19. I would think that Andy Wilkins or Raul Fernandez will be DFA to make room unless a trade is coming.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 5, 2015 -> 08:27 AM) No offense to anyone here, but if Rick Hahn is getting personnel ideas from Soxtalk, JR needs to find a new GM. Thanks, Dick. Yeah thanks I should have put it in green I guess.
  21. Holy s***. They definitely read the board, I mean come on? Nice signing. $4 million is probably too much but hey it's not my money.
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 3, 2015 -> 10:23 PM) Sorry Pittsburgh. Rapeyburger didn't have it today Steelers were toast without Bell but officials didn't do them any favors. Pretty poorly officiated game.
  23. So I know that Bulls are in the middle of a season that hopefully produces a championship but Lebron injury helps their draft status. The Bulls receive the Kings 1st round pick this year if it falls out of the top 10. They are currently 12th and with the garbage in the East, they should stay in that 11-14 range. The Bulls also have the right to swap 1st rounders with Cleveland. Even if Cleveland picks #21 or so, trading with them will be advantageous. OUtside chance that the Bulls have 2 top 20 picks again this season. All thanks to the rarely talked about Luol Deng trade.
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 11:41 AM) Thats right. I knew they had two bigtime picks trading down, and Brees was an almost-first rounder Not so funny story from the 2001 draft: Bears had a deal to move up from #8 and take Ladainian Tomlinson. Bears ownership didn't want to pay the high contract cost. Then they were settled on taking Deuce McAllister at #8. David Terrell fell to them and after doing no background work on Terrell, they drafted him instead. Later, Bears had opportunity to move back into round 1 and take McAllister. Ownership didn't want to pay two 1st round picks and the deal never happened. Bears ended up with David Terrell and Anthony Thomas.
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 27, 2014 -> 09:32 PM) What do you think of the state of college basketball, specifically Kentucky with the 9 McDonald's All-Americans? What are the odds UK wins it all? I'd say probably 92 percent, the other 8 percent the field. Living in a pro town as many of you do (Chicago) do you think college basketball is a total joke now in this era of one and done? I'm starting to think college basketball is a very weak feeder system to the big, bad, all-everything NBA. For example, I can almost guarantee you Cliff Alexander and Kelly Oubre are one and done at Kansas, yet as freshmen they are contributing like freshmen have done throughout history, meaning, not very much. Wiggins last year also exhibited traits of a freshman and by no means was dominant. Even Durant won one NCAA tournament game at Texas before moving on after his freshman season. Do you think college basketball has become very passe (shouldn't we just crown Kentucky and get it over with?) or do you think the college game is outstanding basketball? My take is this one and done thing has not helped the college game much and that currently when you talk about basketball you are only talking about the NBA, whereas you talk football and college is equally entertaining to the NFL. I think that Pro Sports are better than college sports because pro players are better than college players. I like the superior product that the NBA provides. I also truly believe that kids shouldn't be playing sports for free for any longer than they have to. I watch Kentucky all of the time because they have players that will play in the NBA. That's just what I prefer though.
