  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 12, 2014 -> 08:20 AM) So Kromer called out Cutler for refusing to check out of bad run plays? So he thinks they should have been running the ball even less? He didn't call out Cutler though. He said it to Ian Rapaport anonymously and then admitted that he did it while crying in front of the team. If he called out Cutler it would have been fine. He went to the media about an in-house issue. He should have had his keys taken.
  2. This is an interesting piece from Dave Cameron: http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/just-a-bit-ou...diocrity-121014
  3. How was Kromer not fired on Monday when this happened? He can't be in the building still. God this is such a horrible franchise right now. I really don't think this coaching staff survives.
  4. Anyone have any interest in Marlon Byrd? Can Michael Morse play LF? Really reaching here guys.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 11:41 AM) Definitely one more, maybe two. I'm guessing that this means dump Viciedo for last RHP bullpen piece, acquire or sign LF for sure, continue to try to upgrade at C.
  6. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 02:15 PM) I actually liked Robinson Leyer- thought he had potential. I think it was Euclides Leyer that got taken.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 01:33 PM) And you know that how? Dee Gordon made major strides forward last year and while he struggled the year previously when coming up through the Dodgers system he was widely regarded as a top 100 prospect. He was a much different player a year ago and when you combine his speed and value on the paths, he brings a very unique skill-set. Like I said, I would trade Dee Gordon for Howie Kendrick when you consider contracts, etc. Kendrick is a better player but Gordon is on a superior contract. Dee Gordon doesn't get on base though. .324 .OBP last year.
  8. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 11:11 AM) So, the bullpen looks a lot better. RHP Guerra Petricka Webb Putnam Cleto? LHP Duke Surkamp Jennings Closer - Robertson Missing anyone? Yeah I think LHP Onelki Garcia has a real chance as well.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 10:49 AM) Greene and Simon. Porcello to Red Sox. That's what I meant. My bad.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 10:30 AM) Given the Tigers defense, Cespedes move is nice for them. Porcello is a nice get for the Red Sox though and I presume they will try to sign him to an extension. I wanted Cespedes on the southside but would not have been able to justify this type of price. Are the Tigers really going with Greene and Porcello as their 4th/5th starters and an OF of Gose, Martinez, and Cespedes? Suddenly the Tigers don't seem as formidable.
  11. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 09:30 AM) Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 47s47 seconds ago So #Marlins getting SP in trade, #Tigers getting a #Reds starter in trade per reports from @jonmorosi and @JoeFrisaro. I really hope it's Danks to the Marlins. They had "reported" interest last year. It's supposedly a RH starter.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 08:01 AM) One other remarkable thing about our lineup is that we actually do have use for a platoon righty right now. As it stands now, our lineup pencils in 4 lefties if you count Micah: Johnson, Eaton, Gillaspie, LaRoche. If Sanchez takes the 2b spot to start the year, that still holds since he switch hits. I don't know how Micah's platoon splits will look in the big leagues, but I do know that two of those bats are garbage against lefties - LaRoche and Gillaspie. They're bad enough that Viciedo, as terrible as he is, would be an offensive upgrade from LaRoche at the DH spot. Before trading Semien this didn't look like that big of an issue to me because Marcus's bat could have slotted in nicely against any LHP as both a starter and a pinch hitter, but instead now we're looking at a bench maybe holding Sanchez, Saladino/Leury, Danks2, and a LH hitting catcher. Maybe Sanchez hits well enough to take some ABs from Gillaspie but its hard to see him taking ABs away from LaRoche, and plus Micah might benefit from some time on the bench against lefties as well. Suddenly we've gone from a place where our lineup needed lefties to a place where our bench is fairly lefty-strong but what we're missing is a solid RH hitting bat somewhere. I brought this up in another thread. Is Rickie Weeks horrible defensively and could he play 3B? He had a. .865 OPS vs LHP last season (Only 155 PA) and still has a ton of power.
  13. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 08:56 AM) Looks like Cespedes to Detroit for Porcello. That's a great trade for Boston if so. How many years of control does Porcello have left?
  14. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 05:36 PM) Guys on top of my wish list right now in order. Jay Bruce Emilio Bonifacio Colby Rasmus (if miss on Bruce) Brandon Morrow Obviously the next major move will be a LF. I think the Sox still need more bullpen help, possibly another starter, a platoon bat for Gillaspie that could play the corners, and some bench help. Is Rickie Weeks really bad defensively? Has he ever played 3B before? He hit LHP to a tune of an .865 OPS last year in 155 PA. If he could spell Gillaspie against LHP, that would be a great addition. Donnie Murphy is a guy that is available but doesn't really hit at all. Does anyone have any ideas for this potential role? Some other guys that would be interesting bench options are Chris Denorfia or Emilio Bonifacio. Sergio Santos and Craig Breslow have been mentioned for the bullpen. What about guys like Jeanmar Gomez, Tom Gorzelanny, and Wesley Wright as possible cheap additions?
  15. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 04:36 AM) I knew that would come out of the draft pool, I just thought they would loose the $ associated with the pick since the pick was forfeited. I think we are talking about the same thing. Lets pretend that the Sox 1st round pick is worth $3.2 million. Their 2nd round pick pool is $1 million and their bonus allotment is $6.5 million. The Sox gave up their 2nd round pick so now they don't have the 2nd rounder or the ability to spend that $1 million on the draft. Now they have $5.5 million to spend and no 2nd round pick. The White Sox include their draft spending in their overall budget though. They can't spend the $1 million on draft day but they can reallocate that figure into the ML payroll.
  16. Dan Hayes of CSN has mentioned Rasmus as a possible LF option still.
  17. Andrew Heaney for Dee Gordon and his .324 .OBP? What the hell are the Marlins doing?
  18. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 07:58 PM) Still don't believe it. Posturing. Yeah I agree. Shelling out $56 million for a closer and a 1 year rental SP doesn't make sense if they don't have the coin to upgrade the lineup any further.
  19. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 07:57 PM) Dan Hayes said that the team keeps the $1M associated with the second round pick. Dan Hayes said that they can reallocate that $1 million elsewhere. It does come out of the draft pool though.
  20. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 07:42 AM) I think that they lost the money tied to the second round pick, so their pool is smaller. I have my fingers crossed that Brendon Rodgers falls to them. I think they will go under slot in the 1st round actually. They lose the ability to spend that bonus $$ for the 2nd round selection. Probably somewhere around $1.5 million.
  21. I knew it was going to be Michael Ynoa. Kenny Williams has always wanted Ynoa. I wish I would have posted it 10 mins ago when I thought about it.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 09:38 AM) They just picked up that catcher from the Marlins who takes up a 40 man spot right? Yeah. They will clear 2 40 man spots with Bassitt and Semien going though. Add Robertson and Shark and it's back at 40.
  23. I'm going to predict Andrew Mitchell as the 3rd piece going to Oakland. No inside info. Just a guess.
  24. This doesn't change anything with Rodon. Leave him down to get the extra year of control. Don't worry about Super II status, but the extra year is key. I'd start him in Birmingham with the rest of our prospects. Get him a few starts in Charlotte and get him to the big leagues by June.
  25. I hate the contract. Love the pitcher. I'll get over it because it's not my money though.
