QUOTE (MAX @ Oct 13, 2014 -> 06:45 PM) If the sox purposely acquire an admitted steroid user via a large free agency contract, I'll probably not watch baseball anymore. Its one thing to take on prospects who are struggling to make the bigs. Its another entirely to recruit and reward a known cheater via huge contract. Haha you might as well stop watching sports then. Sports are littered with bad guys. The 2005 White Sox had steroid users on the team and nobody really cared. If you could guarantee me that Melky would come here and solidify the lineup, I don't really care what means he takes to do that.

QUOTE (ron883 @ Oct 13, 2014 -> 05:08 PM) The laziness of the Cleuluis Rondon section is just awful. "The White Sox also acquired glove-first infielder Cleuluis Rondon from Boston in the trade. Rondon entered the season as the No. 26 prospect in the system and is good enough defensively to be a shortstop — if his bat ever catches up." He is good enough defensively to be a shortstop. Really? That's all the writer could come up with? Do some research on the other prospects of the trade. Cleuluis is another prospect with great potential. His bat was good enough while in A+. That defense at shortstop is so valuable. He is known for his plus-plus defense at shortstop. Embarrassing on Dan Hayes part. Stating " He is good enough defensively to be a shortstop" is selling him very short. Rondon has been a bit undersold but defense isn't sexy. If Rondon hits over .200 he'll be a major leaguer. That's the bottom line. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 13, 2014 -> 06:25 PM) Stevenson Football is the Atlanta Braves of HS football, minus the one ring. It will help Stevenson that they won't have to run the gauntlet in 8A though. 7A will be much tougher because many of the best teams end up in 7A lately. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 13, 2014 -> 06:20 PM) Nah, Stevenson. I might be off a year. Okay. We played Stevenson in 2002. Maine South in 2003. -
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Oct 11, 2014 -> 04:55 PM) There you go. So Law says that with Montas quickly emerging into a front-line starter prospect, the Sox will have 4 in the top 100 (Montas plus presumably Anderson, Rodon and ?). So that brings up a good question - do we move Quintana or [gasp] Sale to bring in some top flight positional talent? Rodon, Anderson, Montas, and Danish

I agree with the above posters for the most part about Gone Girl. It was great. Stayed very true to the book.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 10, 2014 -> 07:40 AM) Moved to Pittsburgh for a 1 year ish job at the start of August. My girlfriend's family is from Pittsburgh. I usually go 2-3 times per year. It's a fun town. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 10, 2014 -> 05:54 AM) http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2202809...-season/page/10 Obviously, 50% of this is due to Rodon's presence alone, but the article nicely sums up the progress this year of Anderson, Hawkins, Montas, Danish and Adams, as well as Micah Johnson. (Whether you agree or disagree, Danish is already being placed here on the "future bullpen piece" list instead of being viewed as a starter, at least for the moment.) So, despite the "disappointments" with Semien, Daniel Webb, Erik Johnson, Davidson...and that earlier "core" group of outfielders in Walker/Thompson/Mitchell, things are looking up for the moment. It's so lazy that people look at Danish's delivery and make him a future bullpen piece. Watch the kid pitch. I wouldn't be surprised if he's starting at Charlotte to end next season.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 9, 2014 -> 09:13 PM) So the Blackhawks are in town literally the night before my birthday in January. For anyone who's gone to a Hawks away game, how much is a lower deck seat worth to me and what is the appropriate thing to wear? Just red in general if I don't own the jersey? Balta, you live in Pittsburgh? -
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 9, 2014 -> 12:34 PM) It'll be interesting to see where he goes. That same guy that tweeted about the Sox and Tomas said that Abreu is pushing the front office to sign him. The tweet is in his replies to another person. The guy that tweeted it is George Ofman. He's a longtime Chicago Update Guy on the radio and he doesn't usually break news. He tweeted the Tomas stuff the other day and today he tweeted that Puig is available and the Cubs are one of the teams interested. Weird that he's tweeting about rumors.

With all of the Cutler discussion lately, this is a great place to put this: https://medium.com/the-cauldron/i-love-that...im-da88cea5f066 It is written by Tim Baffoe of the 670 The Score writing staff. This piece basically sums up my feelings about Jay Cutler. It is well written and really really good. Some will hate it. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 08:25 AM) I'd agree that Birmingham could be a really fun team to watch next year. Rotation likely includes Montas and Danish, plus some combo of Recchia/Bucciferro/Wendelken/Jaye (Recchia may start in AAA, Wendelken may go back to relief) to make up what should be a pretty solid rotation. The lineup should include Anderson, Hawkins and Coats, but the rest of the lineup I'm not sure will be that great. May and Barnum don't look ready to me, DeMichele just hasn't put it together, Heisler is an org guy... Narvaez might be something. I get what you are saying. I just meant that 2 of the Sox best pitching prospects and the 2 best position player prospects will all be in AA. That's exciting.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 02:49 PM) Are u sure they we're br fans? Disappointing if so Oh yeah I'm sure. It doesn't mean they are all bad. It was just my experience from 10 years ago. I coach at Lockport now and BR isn't really on my radar. We wouldn't play them until the playoffs and we haven't been good enough lately for that to happen. -
I think it's pretty obvious that Tim Anderson and Courtney Hawkins will both be at Birmingham next year with Danish and Montas in the rotation. That's going to be a really fun team. If Montas stays healthy and continues to develop that 3rd pitch, he will move really fast. I mean he's already going to be at AA. I think that Bassitt is a bullpen arm as well that has the chance to be real good in that role.

QUOTE (Lillian @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 07:36 AM) I understand that our #8 Draft pick is protected. However, please explain exactly what the Sox would lose, if they signed Melky Cabrera and Victor Martinez, aside from a ton of money. They would lose their 2nd and 3rd round picks and the slot amount for those picks. Let's pretend that the Sox bonus pool is something like $6.5 million total. 1st round pick: 3.2 Million 2nd Round pick: $1.1 million 3rd Round pick: $750,000 (Those numbers are completely hypothetical). Not only would the Sox lose the 2nd and 3rd rd picks, instead of a $6.5 million draft pool, they'd have a tad over $4.5 million to spend total. Does this make sense?

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 11:09 AM) It's a typo, why jump on that instead of continuing your point? I'm not continuing my point. Josh McCown is bad at football. He's not an NFL starter. If you honestly think letting go of Jay Cutler and going with Josh McCown as the STARTING QB of the Bears was a good idea then I can't help you and I don't need to continue with my point. -

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 10:35 AM) The money is seriously the reason I'm up in arms. He's paid like an elite QB when he is a good one. Can you imagine if we had Aaron Rodgers on the Bears? The Bears would be 5-0 easily. I just think the price was too high for Jay and that we could have used that money on some DB's. And who was going to play QB in this scenario? -
