  1. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 06:12 PM) Micah hits a chopper to the right of the pitching mound, nearly beats it out. My god he is stupid fast. If he bunted 100 times a season, I bet he could hit .450 or better in those ABs. Jordan Gorosh @JGoro8 · 23m 3.72 for Micah Johnson down to 1B there. That's 80
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 12:41 PM) Max Wildstein ⚾️ ‏@MaxWildstein 7m #Reds Chien-Ming Wang will opt out of his #MiLB deal and will sign with the #ChiSox, sources tell @GSIntegration. #MLB lol Is Rienzo staying in the Charlotte rotation? They will have Rienzo, Wang, Hanson, Johnson, Axelrod, Heath, and Doran. Am I missing something? I would imagine Sanchez will also go back to AAA and the Sox will call up a reliever? Who gets the call this time?
  3. A Minnesota paper reported yesterday that Flip Saunders asked the Bulls for Taj, Butler, McDermott, Mirotic, and picks for Kevin Love. That's ridiculous. That's way too much.
  4. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 02:47 PM) ok, I now have some time avail where I can write this out the right way. I am here for 2 reason, first to eat some crow and say that I never thought that Rodon would sign or should I say allow Scott, his agent, to convince him to sign. the money is that factor and I really thought scott will hold Rodon out for spite and make a issue on the slot money. who knows he may do that with the other 1 rounders. posters calling him greedy or not, is the right way to describe this. it is over and done with, lets start that chapter of Rodon as a sox player. Why would you think that though? Boras is a good agent. Holding out Rodon would not have been advantageous for the client. With the new draft rules, it was always a foregone conclusion that Rodon would be signing.
  5. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 08:42 AM) I heard that the biggest jump in the minors is from high A to AA for hitters especially because the pitching is a lot better, if that's the case how can Mitchell struggle at AAA so much? It's pretty similar to AA I assume, yet obviously the closest to MLB, I'm really rooting for Mitchell and loved his section in '09, felt awful for that ankle injury, and just want him in the show as soon as possible, it's sad seeing him struggle this much in AAA I actually think that in some cases, AA is harder than AAA is. For Jared Mitchell especially. A lot of tough LHP are in AA rather than AAA.
  6. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 08:17 AM) Yep, my buddy interned for them in college. He said Boers would come in 2-3 days per week. Also said Bernstein (as you could imagine) was a jackass. Boers was nice. Entire production staff super nice, too. Yeah I remember one time when there were bad storms in the area (I live inn Lockport). Well Mokena lost power and all of a sudden Bernstein was doing the show solo and they had to kind of admit that Boers on a DSN line haha. I've met Bernstein numerous times and he's much different than he is on air. A lot of that program is a schtick. I'll take your buddy's word for it obviously but I've always had fairly pleasant experiences with Dan.
  7. QUOTE (Tmar @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 08:47 AM) The two guys drafted before him, and everybody after him too, took less money than greedon and signed right away (aiken was gonna sign right away remember, before he failed that physical). So they were more interested in signing and playing baseball, meanwhile rodon was more interested in getting the most money he could. Almost the exact definition of greed. Add in the fact that he hasn't pitched 1 professional inning yet he still was asking for more money. Go earn it first kid Wow this is one of the stupidest and most ridiculous posts I've ever seen.
  8. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 09:21 AM) McNeil is at least entertaining Boers does nothing. That show is better when he is on vacation. I think it's funny that if you really pay attention, you can tell which days Boers is doing the show from his house in Mokena.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 09:36 AM) Knicks current salary without Melo: $59 million, $6 mill above salary floor. Which is why they can't take Boozer back in a deal. They are a 3 time offender of the repeater tax and the Luxury tax payments are something close to $70 million I believe. That's insane.
  10. For those of you that know, is Peter O'Brien an actual prospect? He's a Yankee catcher that has 30 homers in the minors. Is he one of these guys that will be a 1B or DH? I just see the numbers but never really see him mentioned as an actual prospect.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 09:18 AM) Has there ever been a good left handed knuckleballer? For some reason, all of them that come to mind were righties. Nope. The soft tossing LHP can get by in the majors for being a soft tossing LHP. If you are a soft tossing RHP, well adding the knuckled isn't a bad idea.
  12. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 09:15 AM) Phil knows he is not taking that much less money to go to Chicago and is not giving him a S&T. Can Melo go to Chicago for one year and then sign a long term max deal? I don't think so. They can sign him to a deal with a year 3 opt out though and that point he'd be able to sign a new max deal with the Bulls recouping even more $$ as the cap would be higher.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 12:18 AM) Please tell I'm not reading that correctly that Dan MacNeil makes 300K a year Of course he does. Boers makes $500,000
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 12:00 AM) Please tell me Rodon is a righty. When is he due to join the rotation? What's the projected year of his arrival on the big league team? No. He's a LHP. He's also a potential ace and will most likely be in the rotation at some point next season. Checkout some you tubes if you get a chance.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 12:06 AM) The poor Thunder. They sit around and do nothing every offseason. If Houston gets Bosh, look out. What is the Thunder's problem. I guess they'll just blame Brooks instead of the front office when they suck in the postseason again next year. They need a big guy who can score! They are trying to get Gasol for the MLE. It's a small market and they are pretty much up against the cap. Their coach is a dips*** though.
  16. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 08:44 PM) That may be the case, but offering to start his clock is an incentive to get him to sign and there was no need to do it to get him to sign for the max bonus without giving away future picks. He's better off in the minors learning to use his change (which apparently saw very little action last year) rather than in the major league bullpen and probably relying on his fastball-slider combo. I don't want him in the majors either. If he comes up in September though, his clock doesn't start.
  17. Another summary of tonight's events: http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/201..._medium=twitter
  18. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 08:11 PM) Absolutely no need to make him any guarantee with how much they went over the slot. If I was the Sox I'd have been saying 'you can either sign for slot and we'll fast-track you to the bullpen, or you can push for overslot and you'll stay in the minors until we're satisfied with your changeup.' Why though? They just got an ace for $6.5 million. I know what the system is but lets look at the big picture here. In the old system, he would've gotten $12 million and not been a White Sox. Carlos Rodon is an absolute bargain.
  19. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 08:27 PM) Ouch. That's a big bite in the ass. Wonder if Hahn has heard from Cashman yet. Jose Abreu is 2014 AL Rookie of the Year
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 05:46 PM) What was it last time...playing cards in the clubhouse instead of prepping pitchers and watching too many University of Florida Gators football games? Who was the Giants' pitcher who complained about him the most, can't remember? It was a fifth starter type of guy, I remember that, not one of their best pitchers at the time. Brett Tomko.
  21. Thread should be changed to: Sox willing to deal Beckham in "any deal". Sheesh.

  23. John Manuel ‏@johnmanuelba 57m Expecting definitive news on @CarlosRodon16 signing w/#WhiteSox today. Sox' bonus pool leaves max north of $6.5M http://www.baseballamerica.com/draftdb/?te...6&team=1026 … I was tweeting back and forth with Manuel. He doesn't think the $6.45 million number is accurate. He thinks it's more than that.
