  1. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 09:15 AM) I personally think Taj is underrated. He never received consistent minutes with Boozer here, but when Boozer was out and Taj started, he was nearly a 20/10 guy (granted he played a ton of minutes those games). Add that output to his elite defensive abilities and if starting, he is definitely a very valuable player. If I am the Bulls, I am trying everything in my power to add Melo while keeping Taj. If you add Melo, Taj's defensive versatility can really help compensate Melo's lack of defense. Taj is pretty good. I feel like people think he's some 24 year old up an comer though. He was like 24 when he was drafted. He will be 29 this year. Not a chance in hell Melo takes something like 4 years $60 million so that Taj Gibson can remain a Bull.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 08:07 AM) Some of us seriously prefer grabbing multiple guys for that kind of money rather than spending it all on a single player half a decade away from the big leagues. He's not have a decade away. He's 19 years old. I would agree with you on the 16 year old signings though.
  3. Cowley is reporting that barring a S&T, the Bulls pitch to Carmelo will be to take $15 million so that they can keep Taj. I have been pretty supportive of GarPax this offseason. They should be fired if keeping Taj Gibson impedes them landing Anthony. Why do we overrate players so bad? It's f***ing Taj Gibson. Who cares. Get Melo his $20 million and do whatever it takes. Figure out the rest later.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 07:48 PM) Barnum, 3-3, hr. Hitting .242. Nathaniel Stoltz ‏@stoltz_baseball 6m And Barnum with an opposite field blast. Guys looking very comfortable against Plutko.
  5. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 06:45 PM) What's our international pool money limit again? Something close to like $4.5 million I believe.
  6. Seth Lakso ‏@SethLakso 1m #WhiteSox prospect Matt Davidson just hit his 8th HR in the month and 14th overall. He’s hitting .294 over his last 10.
  7. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 07:02 PM) I think we'd all be, but the problem is the Astros may still sell him as a 130 wRC+ catcher. Given what they asked for Bud Norris & Lucas Harrell, I don't see them being realistic with their demands for Castro, not when he's one of their best chips. I still think Grandal makes more sense for us. He's younger and under team control for an additional season, plus I think his bat projects better for our lineup. He won't be easy to get, regardless of his down year so far, but maybe a package centered around Davidson (assuming a rebound), Beck, and an A ball wild card would be something they'd consider in the offseason. Isn't Grandal LH as well?
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 06:00 PM) Kiley McDaniel's most recent article doesn't have the Sox signing anyone in his top 28. Did he have them with Nunez or Alfaro?

  10. Alex Kennedy: Source says that the Bulls are trying to trade the contracts of Carlos Boozer and Mike Dunleavy Jr. No surprise, but Bulls are trying. Twitter @AlexKennedyNBA
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 11:18 AM) Of everything i have read about Rose, it seems he is more naive than dumb(or an asshole). But I dont know the guy, he is a ghost off the court except for promotional appearances, he keeps out of trouble. This is right on. Derrick was babied and coddled. Sure he made it out of the mean streets of Inglewood but everyone looked after him. He would play basketball and then go home from everything I heard. That family had to make sure that nothing happened to the meal ticket. He has never made his own decisions or acted for himself. I guarantee that his camp has reached out and talk to Melo's people. The guy just should never be in front of a microphone. Doesn't do himself any favors.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 10:34 AM) Create a new thread. That is why there is none of that crap so legit news doesn't get burried. Understood. I didn't think it was big enough news to create a new thread. It has like 6 replies and 2 of them are people saying that I should've created a thread. Not really thread worthy I guess.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 09:18 AM) For as much as he has been out, I have no idea how he has anytime left. Hopefully the guy gets better. He obviously has some issues going on. Dan McNeil @DanMcNeil670 · 43m Not in a contract holdout, as @RobertFeder wrote. @MitchRosen670 approved time off before negotiations. Nonetheless...I remain mercurial!
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 08:28 AM) Owner of the site wants you to start new threads with new news so people don't have to go digging and it can generate discussion. That's why trade wind and catch all threads were closed. I didn't think this topic warranted a thread of its own.
  15. Trade Winds thread was closed. No Catch All Thread. I guess I'll dump this here. Jon Heyman was on with Mully and Abbatacola this morning. He was talking about how he wasn't sure if the White Sox would be sellers because they are only 5.5 back of the 2nd wildcard. He mentioned that teams would be interested in Beckham, Ramirez, Dunn, and Danks. I can't see Rick Hahn standing pat if there's a deal to be made. The Sox have a real chance here to set themselves up nicely for 2015 and 2016. I hope they do the right thing and sell. The White Sox have a better chance at a top 5 pick than they do a playoff berth in my opinion.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 11:54 AM) If his contract is up, why are people worrying about him not being on the air? He's taking his vacation time before his contract expires and he's already stated that he's not working this summer. I think I've typed that 3 times in this thread already.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 01:15 PM) Sale has been way too reliant on that changeup this month it serms Well he's been throwing the change up a lot to avoid throwing his slider too much.
  18. How did Stan Bowman get a live body in return for Bollig?
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 27, 2014 -> 04:36 PM) Who would be available next off season as a FA? There will be no LBJ, possibly no love, I'm curious who the pitch could be made for LaMarcus Aldridge. Shares an agent with Rose. Has stated his love for the Bulls. I'd rather have Aldridge than Kevin Love.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2014 -> 12:51 PM) Sox were very close to drafting him. If Rockies took Hawkins like many had projected, then I believe Stroman was the pick. I wanted Hawkins at the time because the reports scared me on Stroman. I thought he was destined for the bullpen. Great stuff there.
  21. Tim (NC) Any word on Rodon signing any time soon? Klaw (1:22 PM) They all sign if they pass their physicals. I don't even bother to ask teams about this stuff.
  22. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 27, 2014 -> 08:57 AM) I know it may be a little crazy to be craving UDFAs (I'm sure Rowand/Kyyle will bring up my love for the "independent worker") but there a few half way decent guys still out there. Patric Young was a guy I thought for sure would be drafted and he makes some sense. If not him then there's 2 other massive centers out there in Jordan Bachynski (7'2") and Sim Bhullar (7'5") that would be very interesting to see what Thibs can do with.. Also wouldn't mind seeing Deandre Kane picked up as the #3 PG behind Rose/?. Kane will play for the Lakers Summer League Team. I'd love to add Patric Young.
  23. Davidson is hitting .303 with 3 homers and 3 doubles in his last 9 at Charlotte.
  24. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 11:50 AM) Melo wants to see the money, he's staying. the only way he sees the money in New York is if Dolan trumps Phil Jackson and pays him though. Jackson isn't giving Melo the max.
  25. Chris Beck promoted to Charlotte and will start tonight.
