  1. The Bulls are in play for Carmelo. What else do you want? The front office has done a good job of setting themselves up for this. Carmelo will visit the Bulls. The Bulls couldn't trade for Afflalo now because they want a bigger fish than that. If Carmelo decides that he he'd rather go to the West then he's an idiot. I don't know why that would be the front office's fault? The Bulls may get stuck with an offseason of Mirotic and smaller pieces but that doesn't mean that someone should be fired. It just is what it is. If you put a different GM and Team President in place, the results would be similar. I think they are getting Carmelo though. Writing is on the wall. Has been since midseason.
  2. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 10:06 AM) Where's Dan McNeil? He was out last week, and this week. He is taking all his vacation time before his contract expires. He's also stated that he's not working the summer. He should have a choice whether to stay at WSCR or jump to WGN. We'll see.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 10:42 AM) His career ERA is 7.36. He cannot be used in high leverage situations. Does this really matter? Use him in high leverage situations. Use Axelrod. Anything that lands another Top 5 pick is fine with me.
  4. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 26, 2014 -> 08:05 AM) Any updated news on Montes de Oca I just assume that he'll go to school. Rodon wants over slot and Sox took a lot of guys at or near slot in the top 10 rounds. They just don't have the money.
  5. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 05:13 PM) I respect what you are saying, I would like to disagree with you. you actually saw Johnson as Jose Q or Danks equal? that is a #2 / 3 pitcher. I saw him more of solid #5 maybe with upside of #4..... Throughout the minor leagues Johnson looked like a definite #4 starter and maybe even a #3. He was never back end filler. His stuff is just gone.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 10:10 PM) I hate Morey so much. Ehh. Melo would be an idiot to go to Houston. That team wouldn't even go to the Western Conference Finals. They'd give up 140 a game and last time I checked aren't allowed to play with 2 basketballs. Melo would get 10 shots a night with Harden there.

  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 08:19 PM) $100,000, not $10,000. Haha my bad, man. Forgot a zero. Thanks.
  9. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 08:15 PM) He cheated on his first wife and married the woman he cheated on her with. When they got divorced, his first wife had an abortion with his kid. He invited his first wife to his wedding with the new woman and was told that abortion news at his there. Sharp and his new wife now have two daughters. Once a cheater always a cheater though, so I wouldn't be shocked if he was doing it again. His agent went off tonight on twitter saying that he was assured by Stan Bowman that Sharp wouldn't be moved. That's bulls*** in my opinion. Sharp will be gone by Sunday if he waives the NTC.
  10. Twitter rumors tonight are speculating that if Cleveland takes Parker he will traded and if they take Wiggins they will keep him.
  11. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 07:49 PM) FutureSox.com ‏@FutureSox 3m Signing of LHP Adam Choplick, 32nd rd pick & OU Jr, is dependent on Rodon signing and $ avail after. So he's likely going down to the wire. I've had a long day, did Choplick sign? And how does this affect Rodon? No he hasn't signed. It basically means he wants more than $10,000. If Rodon signs for the entire pool, Choplick will not be signing. If Rodon leaves a little cash (I have no idea how much) Choplick will sign for that amount.
  12. QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 05:33 PM) No that is a very telling stat. After Rizzo gets on who drives him in ? What does that have to do with anything? He can't control whether or not someone drives him in.
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 05:23 PM) That's a horrific deal for one of the two of the best wing prospects of all time. But yeah it is Cleveland. Seriously though, it's the single most valuable draft pick in 11 years. You better get a superstar back if you are trading it. Maybe they would. They were going to take Joel Embiid over Wiggins and Parker. Now they could still take him and get other assets as well.
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 05:16 PM) I would LOL so hard if Cleveland took that. Why wouldn't they take it? That's a good deal. I would stay at #1 and take Wiggins but moving to #4 lets them take Embiid at 4. Then pick again at #12 and acquire Afflalo.
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 05:09 PM) Alexei WAS the best SS in the AL this year, but he's been stuck on 7 HR/36 RBI since May 25. It's June 25. His average has also dropped since then. Yep. He's also going to be 33. Paxton and Nick Franklin and I'm driving him personally.
  16. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 05:04 PM) How many years has Rizzo been in the MLB? I wouldn't say Rizzo is the better player yet. Currently, maybe. Rizzo looks like a completely different player this year. I get what you are saying but Rizzo will always be LH and always play a better 1B. Abreu will hit for more power. Both really good.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 11:30 AM) I don't really see how the Bulls are getting Afflalo if they use their picks this year? They aren't. I think Cleveland will take Afflalo, #4, and #12 from Orlando for #1 tomorrow night. I expect the Bulls to take Dario Saric at #16 if available tomorrow and draft a player for someone else at #19. Bulls won't get a player tomorrow night.
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 04:46 PM) I just saw an amusing Abreu vs Rizzo argument in Bleacher Report comments. I'll take .274/22/60 in fewer games over .288/17/44 any day. Rizzo has been the better player. He is younger. He is much better defensively. He has a wOBA of .400. Anthony Rizzo is turning into a stud. Abreu is awesome too but we are being homers if we suggest that Abreu is better and it's not close. Come on.
  19. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 09:37 AM) I think dunn does a lot more than he is credited for, clubhouse wise. with that, I think this yr is a wash rebuilding and getting better prospects. dunn coming back at what cost ($$). also there is a lot of swing and misses with a low 200 avg for me. The strikeouts and low batting average don't really matter for him though. I actually wish his batting average was lower and he had more homers.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 08:20 AM) It'll take him a while to get back into it but I think/hope once he gets back into game shape that he'll be good to go... until he gets injured again. If Rose plays for Team USA it shouldn't take him very long to get acclimated in Chicago.
  21. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 04:58 PM) And I don't want Kesler because I don't want to have to root for him. I wouldn't want Burrows or Bieksa either. I hate dirty players and I don't want them on my favorite teams, regardless of skill level. They aren't just faceless names on a scoresheet to me. Are you okay with Bobby Hull being a team ambassador and spending time around the United Center?
  22. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 07:23 AM) I listed Beckham, Ramirez, and Gillaspie. I don't think any of them is untradeable if the right offer comes along, but all three of them are hitting significantly above league average for their position. Given how difficult it is to find good defensive infielders who can also hit, it would take a pretty nice offer to get me to part with any of them. I know that the minors is deep in the infield right now, but there's no guarantees that any of those guys can produce like this. If you assume that AGarcia comes back next year and is at least a little bit above average offensively for a RF and Eaton continues to improve, you're really only three spots (LF, C, DH) away from a really good lineup. Dunn is having a good year and I'd like to see him back, but I think that he is exactly the kind of guy that a contending team will overpay for in July and the Sox can't turn that down. There are also three quality starters and three quality bullpen arms (plus Jones coming back next year), so while this team is bad right now it isn't far away from being very strong. Gillaspie isn't good defensively. Beckham will not be worth what he'll get paid next year, and Alexei is their biggest trade chip. Gillaspie will be here because there's no reason to trade him but the other two will be gone in my opinion.
  23. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 09:43 AM) Grandal has had less than 500 ML PA, and only have of them have been bad. And really, not THAT bad -- he's accumulated 3.1 fWAR over those 500PA, which equates to a very decent seasons, and is better than any stretch of 500 PA in Beckham's career. Why do we think we can get Grandal for cheap? Because their best prospect is a catcher and Grandal is expendable and hasn't been great.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 10:02 AM) So, you were 5 during the 2010 offseason and don't remember it? Yeah. I'm actually 9 years old. It's a good explanation for why I have so many bad posts.
  25. This offseason will be fun regardless of what happens. So many possible moving parts. Lebron could win a title in most places but he'd be stupid to go to the West and run that gauntlet if he doesn't have to. I hope he does. That means Bulls can win the East. This is all basically hinges on Wade though. Bosh will probably opt out. If Wade opts in though, Lebron can't go back to Miami. My guess would be that Lebron and Wade end up back in Miami with more of a supporting cast and Bosh gets a max deal elsewhere.
