Hawkins 2 run triple. As bad as Davidson has been, he's still going to hit 20 homers.

Ben Badler @BenBadler 9m Two more years until MLB teams can sign players born in the year 2000, in case you were wondering when I plan to retire. Reply 9 Retweet 4 Favorite James Fox @JamesFox917 6m @BenBadler How is it that White Sox have so much $$ to spend, but aren't linked to any of the big names on INTl Market? Reply Retweet Favorite Delete Ben Badler @BenBadler 4m @JamesFox917 I've tied them to multiple guys already. James Fox @JamesFox917 3m @BenBadler I saw Ynoa as possible, a SS, and Alfaro. Just not the supposed top 10-15 types. So they should do a decent job, then? This was my convo with Badler. Have Sox been linked to anyone other than those 3 guys?

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 23, 2014 -> 06:27 PM) Boras is doing what he is getting paid to do. He's gonna get a bigger cut the more his client gets. It's in his best interest to do this, and it's in Rodon's best interest to do this. I don't know about 99.9999% that this gets done, but there's a very high chance that it does. Ehh. There's really not though. He will end up signing around the deadline for the same money that he could take today. It's not the old system. They can only offer so much and I bet it's been offered.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 23, 2014 -> 07:03 PM) They have to rework the rules, it's ridiculous how a team can just blow their budget one year and then take the next year off, ad finitum. Presume a fix will be in the next CBA. White Sox could play by the same rules. They choose not to. Would you rather spend $10 million on the INTL. Market or spend the money on the ML team during a rebuild? Gimme the 16 years olds.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 23, 2014 -> 10:51 AM) For what though? Stephen A. Smith this morning said Melo's priority is money, but the Knicks and Phil Jackson have made Melo believe that they're not going to offer him max money. More like 100 million (a little more than the 96 max he can get with another team), not the 120+ million max deal. If true, money won't be a big factor in his decision. Mitch basically said that Jim Dolan would trump Phil Jackson and give Melo the max. Mitch Lawrence also reminded me of why everyone hates New York. What an arrogant, elitist, asshole.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 23, 2014 -> 01:41 AM) I bet there are trades on draft day. Is Cleveland really going to pick No. 1 again rather than trade after last year's disaster pick? If no trades, I see it this way. Cavs - Wiggins Bucks - Parker Sixers - Embiid (still) Flip the first 2 and I think you've got it. I think Parker will go #1 to Cleveland. Wiggins #2. I'd take Wiggins #1 though.

Tim Anderson will be in Jason Parks' Top 50 prospects in baseball. Jason Parks @ProfessorParks · 18m He made it. RT @Dayshift34: @ProfessorParks Tim Anderson gonna be in that Top 50? Josh Byrnes was fired as GM in San Diego today. Rumor has it that they'd like to bring Kevin Towers back to SD. Fleecing him for Grandal shouldn't be too hard.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 07:35 PM) Melo is nice, but I'd like to get greedy and get both Love and Affalo. Would like to see if we have enough trade chips to get both. If all Magic is looking for is a first rounder, we can package Dunleavy, combination of James, Amundson and Brewer and the 16th pick for Affalo. For Love, we will offer the rights to Mirotic, the carcass of Carlos Boozer, the 19th pick, first rounder next year, and the rights to the Kings pick for K Love. If we can somehow get Love without losing the defensive value of Taj and Jimmy, this team is going to be tremendous. Noah-Love-Butler-Affalo-Rose with Taj, Snell coming off the bench would be fun to watch. They could do the same thing and get Melo though. They'd be over the cap. Which is a good thing because then they can utilize the MLE and the Mini-MLE. There is a scenario in which Melo, Mirotic, and Afflalo are all on the Bulls next season with Noah and Rose.

Blackhawks: Find a way to bring Ryan Kesler to my tv screen wearing the Indian Head. Thank You. -
QUOTE (OilCan @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 07:23 PM) I think the Andre Rienzo experiment may be over soon. Erik Surkamp has been pitching pretty good in his last 10 games overall. I agree with this but I still think Rienzo could be a pretty good late inning reliever.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 08:56 PM) What are you proposing to trade for Grandal with? Viciedo and Rienzo

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 10:21 PM) The Sox have the money, right? So why not start the pursuit of Tomas. Make it clear to Boras the Sox want and need him. Why would they need to tell Boras that they want Tomas?

QUOTE (professa @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 04:48 PM) What we're really lacking is a true #3 hitter in our lineup (even tho conor is doing a great job) and a #2/#3 starter RH starter. Unfortunately, there really aren't any true #3 hitters hitting FA unless you're gonna spend crazy money. I think getting a guy like Markakis or Zobrist would be smart on a 3 year deal ~ 36 million until we figure out if Hawkins/Avisail can become that guy. Also, getting a vet right hander like Haren or Peavy on a 1-2 yr pact would be ideal. Resign Dunn for a year too ~8 million. Lineup 1. Eaton CF 2. Semien/Micah/Sanchez 2B 3. Markakis/Zobrist LF 4. Abreu 1B 5. Dunn DH 6. Avisail RF 7. Conor 3B 8. Alexei SS 9. Flowers/Nieto Rotation 1. Sale 2. Peavy/Haren 3. Quintana 4. Danks 5. Rodon/Johnson They have a #3 hitter. Robin just bats him 4th. I have seen 5 times that I remember this year in which Gillaspie has made the last out with runners on base and Abreu leads off the next inning. With the current team, I'd go like this: 1. Eaton CF 2. Gillaspie 3B 3. Abreu 1B 4. Dunn DH 5. Viciedo RF 6. Ramirez SS 7. De Aza LF 8. Beckham 2B 9. Flowers C

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 04:29 PM) Beckham--Maybe a low level prospect. Alexei-Yes, we'd get a lot for him. Dunn-Absolutely nothing but a low level prospect if that. Downs-Nothing but garbage in return if that. Belly - Nothing but garbage in return if that. Actually, they'd hang onto Belisario because he's under team control. Those other guys don't factor into the future though.

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 04:36 PM) Lol. If the Sox do make some trades, they could end up with another top five pick in the 2015 draft. This should be the goal. No reason to hover around .500 when you have the chance to unload again and draft another quality class of players.

QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 04:26 PM) Is Adam Engel hurt? Didn't he play for the AZL Sox last night?

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 12:37 PM) Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 17m Buddy Bell talked today about numerous topics including Carlos Rodon. He expects his signing to go down to the Draft signing deadline, but. Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 17m he would like to see him sign sooner than later because he has such high expectations for Rodon. Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 17m Bell: "The sooner you sign and with his ability and how I see him, this kid is going to be in the big leagues soon.... Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 16m More Bell: "... It just seems to me if money is the issue, he’s going to make a helluva lot more getting it started than not." So I would imagine that the Sox are offering slightly over slot at around $6 million. Boras is holding out for the entire overage that JR has never been willing to pay. Rodon will sign for like $6.1 million around the signing deadline date.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 04:07 PM) Who are you planning on selling? I still say Dunn brings nothing and Danks brings nothing cause of his contract. These relievers like Downs will bring nothing. Ditto DeAza. I guess you mean Beckham and Lexi. Well, anyone other than Sale, Quintana, Eaton, Avi Garcia, or Abreu. I'd be fine unloading anyone else. Beckham, Alexei, Dunn, Downs, Belisario could net decent returns.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 03:55 PM) The wheels are about ready to come off for the 2014 White Sox fun while it lasted. I'm ready for it. Better now than later in my opinion. Selling off a bunch of veterans and securing another top 10 draft pick could really help the organization long-term.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 11:48 AM) Afflalo is not part of a melo plan. He is the plan. This isn't true. Keep preaching that narrative though.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 03:02 PM) Not getting the best players available is one thing. We've clearly done that. We have at least done it out of what seems to be a principled stance that we believe in deep squads a la Spurs. Unfortunately, our best player has been hurt since the plan seemed to start working. That doesn't mean that our fruitless plan to build a team that is impressive from top to bottom is the one we should stick to. What it does mean is that it would be dumb and make mockery of everything else that has been done to completely gut the franchise of all of its assets to bring in a star player. Imagine a deal of...this year's 2 first rounders, Mirotic, Butler, and Noah for Love. That's an awful deal because you're left with a team that has Rose, Love, and Taj only. Even if only Taj is the one to go, you've basically decided that your team will have 3 or 4 NBA playoff-caliber starters on it, at best. The whole point of the easy-does-it approach is that we should be able to make the big, bold move and bring a star player onto a team that is built to win. This is why I think we should ignore this Love business entirely if it is as it seems and focus completely on Carmelo, since we can likely get him to the team without moving nearly every positive asset the franchise has. I see no scenario in which we get Melo yet have a shallow team. Why would Minnesota take Noah in a Love deal anyway? He's a free agent again in 2016 and would never sign there.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 03:01 PM) That's why I think it would be wise to sign Shields and put him in between Sale and Quintana. Rodon will slide in nicely between Sale and Quintana
