Here are Hawkin's Homers from the last nights and some video on Tim Anderson courtesy of Nathaniel Stoltz. Nathaniel Stoltz @stoltz_baseball 3h First, here's Courtney Hawkins' mammoth blast from yesterday: Nathaniel Stoltz @stoltz_baseball 3h You can't really see where the ball lands in the video. It ended up landing on the concourse to the right of the wooden roof. Nathaniel Stoltz @stoltz_baseball 2h Here's Courtney Hawkins' homer from tonight: … Note to Carolina League pitchers: No offspeed stuff in the zone to him! Here's the video: Also: Hawkins strikes out here but actually takes some breaking balls: Now onto Tim Anderson. Nathaniel Stoltz @stoltz_baseball 2h Took seven viewings to see it, but Tim Anderson's talent was crystal clear tonight on both sides of the ball. Nathaniel Stoltz @stoltz_baseball 2h Here's Anderson ripping a double to right-center: Nathaniel Stoltz @stoltz_baseball 2h And here Anderson pulls a single: Nathaniel Stoltz @stoltz_baseball 1h Here's Anderson going oppo for a triple: Everyone wanted him to go for the inside-the-parker.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 09:43 PM) Just doesn't seem like he has that dominating type of stuff...maybe a 5th, but more likely long relief or set-up. Hawkins is the minor league version of Dunn...three outcomes (well, fewer walks). May and Barnum both struggling out of the gate, Barnum still hitless. Nice to see Anderson with all the extra base hits. Hopefully by the time he reaches the majors, he's a 15-18 homer guy with 30 steal potential. And, most importantly, sticking at SS instead of 2B or CF. Micah Johnson 2 for 3, but I don't think he's going to put up more than 50-60 steals this season in AA. I don't think anyone has any idea as to what Hawkins is yet. It's a tad soon to be labeling him as a 3 outcome guy. And if he turns into that guy he will have a very successful career.

QUOTE (BaconOnAStick @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 12:16 AM) He'll still see major league action this year of course, but I think Conor Gillaspie will have an, at the very least, marginally better major league career. (I don't see him panning out like everyone else thinks it's a sure thing) Well that's quite the shot in the dark

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 04:27 PM) Too late for this year unless they turn some starters into relievers. Just think when we do get a slim lead, who the hell is going to close it out? Still, if DeAza just puts the ball in play we might have stole a game. The fans were restless and booing Wade at that point. Maybe we'd have stolen one. It's tough to "enjoy the youth" when you actually watch the entire game and your favorite team appears to have a chance to beat the heavily favored team and blows it. The highlight of that game from a Sox standpoint was the throw by Nieto to nail Dyson. Lot of lowlights. The highlight for me was Ramirez continuing to hit so that the Sox can trade him.
-
Man people living and dying with these games already? This team isn't going to be very good. Enjoy the youth and take the good times with the struggles otherwise it's going to be a long year. I'm looking forward to that Winston Salem game later.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 02:39 PM) Semein is not a 2 hitter. He is a bench player. Young guy like him should be way down in the order. What are you talking about? He may not be ready for major league baseball but he does profile well for the #2 spot and he's not a bench player.

Stoltz tweeted this video of Hawkins. He does look different at the plate.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 12:30 AM) Magic number for the Bobcats pick is now at 1. Not sure if this has been talked about, but if given the oppertunity to package those picks to trade up, would you? How high would it have to be? Who would you be targeting? What about trading BOTH and then some for Melo or Love(If he becomes made available)? 3 1sts/Boozer/Taj/Snell or if need be Butler sounds fair right? I think unless they can get a star player, they should stand pat and pray that Aaron Gordon falls to them. Bulls should be able to bring Mirotic over and add 2 pretty nice pieces in draft. That also allows the team flexibility in dealing Taj, Butler whoever in a package in the 2015 offseason. I'm not a huge Lance Stephenson fan unless it's for good money.

When's the last time Viciedo played RF?
-
It's early but Hoffman sounds like the guy to me. I will actually be kind of disappointed if he's not around. 2 months out though it seems like Rodon to Houston and 1 of the HS arms to Miami.

Does anyone here have any idea how Danish's velocity was last night?

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 11:13 AM) The bright side is we have a guy like Petricka waiting in the wings. Get yourself straight Big Nate! Surprised it wasn't Guerra that got recalled.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 07:24 PM) On a positive note...Webb looks pretty damn good! Webb is a stud. Obviously it's just 1 game and 1 series but I wish that Webb was the closer. He's going to be the closer eventually. No better time than now.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 12:52 PM) This very much reiterates what Bucket has been trumpeting. I still like Hoffman personally. I like Hoffman as well. I have also seen Kevin Gausman mentioned as a comp as far as body type and repertoire.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 12:49 PM) Sounds a lot like the same kinds of things that were said about Zach Greinke coming into the draft. What major league comps are being made with/about Hoffman? I have heard the Scherzer, Verlander type comp for Hoffman. Obviously that is on the extreme end, but he is very athletic. His stuff is better than Beede's too.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 10:12 AM) Eaton 8, Semien 5, Abreu 3, Dunn DH, Garcia 9, De Aza 7, Ramirez 6, Flowers 2, L. Garcia 4. Quintana 1 Why the f*** is Dayan Viciedo on the White Sox if he's never going to play vs RHP? Just deal him then.

Wasn't it a night game in Game 2 last year? As a Teacher, I usually go to the 2nd game of the year. It was idiotic to make it a day game.
-
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 07:52 AM) As are the vast majority of major leaguers. You're scraping the bottom of the barrel if you're pulling out K/HR ratio to try and criticize Dunn. He was actually about 5.5:1 last year. Better than ML average. Don't let facts get in the way of an Adam Dunn argument. Dunn haters don't like facts.

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 05:26 PM) Here are the international bonus pools and slot values: http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...nd-slot-values/ The Sox have a total of $4,622,400. I would imagine that the Cubs and Rangers will be trading some of their slot $$.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 11:15 AM) Yeah my mistake. When is Birmingham's roster going to be announced? Actually, it's right here http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=2...47&sid=t247

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 10:54 AM) Micah is in Birmingham, they have org filler Michael Johnson at WS. That is a still a group that means a ton to the future of the Sox. DeMichelle is also there and I still hold hopes that he will put it together. Yeah my mistake. When is Birmingham's roster going to be announced?
-

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 09:40 AM) There really isn't much point to rushing Danish, as he needs to build up his innings. Most of the other guys talked about are college pitchers. Danish has a large innings gap he has to make up if he wants to be a starter at the major league level. He only threw 94 innings in high school as a senior, plus another 30 for the Sox, and 39 IP the year before that. He has to make up 60 to 80 IP per year before he is really ready. Yeah you are probably right. I am pretty high on Danish and I think he will be really good at Kanny. That's the only reason I thought he'd up end at WS pretty quick.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 09:15 AM) FS will have affiliate previews up soon, and our next Podcast is slated for next week to talk about roster surprises. Meanwhile, some of the most interesting stuff surrounds who is starting versus relieving. Some guys I was sure would start (at least this year) are in the pen, and some relievers have been put into rotations... Kannapolis Rotation: Dykstra, Danish, Leyer, Bierman, Mitchell Winston-Salem Rotation: Goldberg, Ortiz, Recchia, Wendelken, Bucciferro (not sure of order on that one) Birmingham Rotation: Beck, Snodgress, Bassitt, Jaye, Doyle? (they didn't specify who was #5) Bassitt is on the DL also, says it is a very minor thing, should be back very soon. Dykstra and Wendelken starting are surprises. Olacio, Hansen in the pen are surprises too. Montas isn't even on a roster, we got word he may be injured, don't know any details yet. I love that Andrew Mitchell is starting at Kanny. I also don't think that Danish will be long for Kannapolis.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 1, 2014 -> 04:14 PM) Dash Roster http://www.milb.com/documents/9/8/0/706259...03_v3cilz8k.pdf That Dash roster will be fun. Barnum, Micah Johnson, Anderson, May, Hawkins, and Coats all in that everyday lineup.
