  1. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 09:38 PM) Anybody we want from the Mets? They're cratering, and should be selling soon. I'd like Tim Byrdak actually. Very effective LOOGY type guy. Been around awhile and from my hometown of Lockport.
  2. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 10:04 PM) So, I'm getting lost here. Doesn't that leave us down a guy? Maybe Putz is coming? We are down a guy in the bullpen with Hernandez and Axelrod technically starters. Hopefully Bruney is ready, if not it may be Heath again.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 03:33 PM) With that arm, it'd be worth a shot, especially if the Sox can't find another arm cheap enough. ss2k, Sanchez is a typical Kenny move. I think it would be worth a shot.
  4. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 02:52 PM) I don't see how the Sox could get Greinke without giving up Viciedo. I would usually agree with you but times are changing. Greinke will be a rental and without the chance for teams to get a draft pick for him, I have to believe that the offers will be reasonable. Texas has the deepest farm system involved and I don't think they would even consider Profar or Olt without an extension.
  5. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 01:21 PM) Not nearly as many as Viciedo. Marty the power makes up for that though. Pierre's are empty outs. Neither player walks. Viciedo's power makes him much more valuable. Viciedo is going to hit 25-30 homers in his rookie season as the 5th-6th offensive option as a 23 year old. I wish Viciedo was more selective but comparing the two is wrong.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 01:04 PM) This is the dumbest idea I've heard. Pierre as a 2 hitter. Your what hurts? In the American League? Those numbers that he's putting up won't translate at all for the Sox. Two, we need power at home in July/Aug/September. We already have a 1 hole hitter. Why do we need any insurance for Viciedo? I'm more concerned with needing insurance for DeAza at this point if he wears down in the 2nd half. No Thank You on Pierre. One of my biggest joys watching the Sox this year is the sheer fact that Juan Pierre is no longer on the baseball team. He is a terrible baseball player and an example of why sometimes stats can be deceiving. Viciedo's bat needs to stay in the lineup and Dayan is even a better OF than Pierre is. I can't even believe that Pierre was suggested.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 12:47 PM) Y U NO Castro? If he did not just come off the disabled lost he would have gotten the call I guess. Gonzo also speculated that they wanted to throw one of the lefties against Boston. Leesman throws harder right? I'd actually like to see what we have in Pedro Hernandez though.
  8. Mark Gonzalez was on with Mcneil/Spiegel and speculated that either Hernandez or Leesman would get the start in Boston on Wednesday night.
  9. Dempster would not be my first choice because he has never pitched in the American League, but this not trading with the Cubs crap is nonsense. I have never understood why it matters. Even trading in the division is a good idea if it's the right deal. If the deal gets you closer to a World Series title, you make it, regardless of who you are trading with.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 04:18 PM) Washington signed Lucas Giolito. Scary. Yeah that's another nice get for that great system. My girlfriend is a Pirates fan from Pittsburgh and I follow them a little closer than most teams. They could not come to terms with Stanford RHP Mark Appel today. They offered the $3.8 million that they had available. With all of the issues that came out with Appel, I'm not sure going back was a smart move. Next year's draft is weaker than this years but he has to go top 5 to make more coin than that. Pittsburgh gets 2 1st rounders next year, but man Cole-Taillon-Appel would have been nice for them.
  11. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 01:26 PM) So much for MLBTradeRumors "if its whispered, we hear it" after a radio report and 6 pages of comments here. If the Rays fall out of contention by the deadline, I wonder what James Shields' price tag will be? Funny that you mention it, I shot Tim Dierkes an email yesterday letting him know about the rumor. No traction. I think the name of the beat writer may have helped the cause.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 02:02 PM) If you can get a lot of value for Nate Jones as the centerpiece of the deal, then see ya Nate. I like Jones, but most 26 year old set-up men aren't considered deal breakers. Even if it were something like Nate Jones, Jared Mitchell, possibly Petricka. I'd make that deal. Don't think Byrnes would though.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 01:47 PM) Oh boy. Sox are gonna have to give up a lot to get this duo. So who do Sox say goodbye to, forever. I'd say Jordan Danks, Mitchell, Flowers and Q will probably be the ransom. I am pretty sure San Diego will not have interest in Flowers or Danks. I don't think the White Sox have a package I would accept if I were Josh Byrnes. The Sox have no pitching to trade and Simon Castro came from the Padres. Mitchell has to be in this deal. There is nobody else; especially if SD wants pitching.
  14. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 12:51 PM) Upperdeck is worthless and is the albatross of US Cellular. JR had to have the extra suites and when park was designed he was warned about what the upperdeck would be like and did not care as long as he got the suites. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 01:40 PM) It really sucks to have to save to get good box seats at a baseball game. Baseball should be ashamed. It was a sport meant to be affordable. Let's face it, we love our team but our ballpark is easily the worst in baseball. The new Cell is OK at best. Totally disagree about the Upper Deck. The top is bad but the first few rows behind home plate is one of the best seats in the house. And Greg, the worst ballpark in baseball? Seriously? Off the top of my head, Houston and Tampa Bay are worse. Oakland is awful. Even the headache that is Wrigley Field sucks until you are sitting in your seats.
  15. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 01:43 PM) A Padres beat writer was on the radio here in CA, talking about the trade deadline and he reported that the Padres have started talks with the White Sox about Volquez and Street. Acquiring both would be a nice upgrade but I would imagine it would be fairly expensive. Volquez is a typical Kenny target because he has another year left on his deal. I need to see the names going back to San Diego first though.
  16. Jim Callis ‏@jimcallisBA RT @BAHighSchool: #WhiteSox signed Sammy Ayala for $258,800. Calif HS C went in 17th rd. Physical w/ plus arm, good pop. #mlbdraft Pretty nice get for the White Sox here. I didn't think he was signing.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 02:17 PM) JJ Stankevitz ‏@JJStankevitz RT @DanHayesCSN: #WhiteSox claimed LHP Daniel Moskos off waivers from Pittsburgh and optioned him to Triple-A. ss2k, any info on how he has been? He was a 1st rounder, 4th overall, in I want to say 2007.... It is a typical Kenny Williams signing. I will go do some research.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 12:20 PM) Not really any good routes from up there bro. Maybe get off at river road and take that south for awhile. Its going to be hell if you take 90 to 94 and try to go south through the north side. I am going on Tuesday as well. Driving up from the southwest suburbs (Lockport) is much easier though. Use google maps and see what it tells you to take, then make alterations from those directions.
  19. I have never seen Nestor pitch. He is just a strike thrower though right? Does not have great stuff, does not walk people, and really does not have a great out pitch. Am I correct? I am pleasantly surprised with Simon Castro. If Molina becomes a decent #4 or #5 starter, trading Sergio Santos for him was a good trade. Hopefully, Moilina can get back soon.
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 12:35 PM) I think Tdog has a guy...or is the guy. The way they've used Septimo this year has been unusual. One inning, 3 or 4 days off, one inning, 2 or 3 days off. Not very Loogy like. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?s...&pid=465015 Nice. Good info. Our beat writers are still horrible though. My god. Is Septimo 27 years old? What is the back story? Has he been in the minors forever?
  21. I love it. Where was this first reported though? I have not seen it anywhere. The Sox beat writers are horrible.
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 11:41 AM) http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/mlb/story/_...uig-sources-say The Dodgers must have really liked him. $42 million over 7 years.
  23. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 04:06 PM) Super Troopers! That's the movie. I wrote it in the other thread already, but we should know rather quickly if it indeed will be Leesman coming up. He is starting tonight at Charlotte and would have to be pulled before the game.
  24. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 02:11 PM) Knights @ Pawtucket 6:05 Leesman Barons @ Tennessee 6:15 Rienzo Dash won 5-3 2 hits for Semien, Sanchez Thompson 1-3, BB, no K! Kanny won 5-3 Buch 5 scoreless with no walks Voyagers @ Billings 8:05 Bristol @ Elizabethton 6 Well, with Leesman scheduled to pitch tonight, we should know rather quickly whether or not he will be joining the bullpen for the NYY series.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 03:49 PM) Seeing how quickly moves are being made this year, makes it really obvious that Ozzie fought Kenny at every single turn over the last few years. Yeah I think you are right on with this. Fukudome would still be on the team if Ozzie were managing and would have well over 100 Plate Appearances as well.
