QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 01:00 PM) His OBP is now .358 and falling (15 points below career ave). OPS is down to .879, which is two points above his career average, and 23 points under his NL average. The walks are at 58, but that pace has slowed down a lot as well over the last month to six weeks. Honestly all his numbers have pretty well crashed once Konerko started hurting. Yeah I understand that. I still don't believe he's going to fall into what happened last year. I think he gets it back to at least his averages. PK being messed up is hurting him though.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 12:38 PM) On pace for 264 K's. The record is 223. Dunn's high is 199. Great. However, it still does not matter. If his .OBP is still around .385 and he walks 100 times with 40 bombs, I could give a s*** how many strikeouts he has or what his Batting Average is.

QUOTE (whitem0nkey @ Jun 25, 2012 -> 02:12 PM) have the cubs lost a year of control by calling him up this season? No. That's why they waited until now. Saturday was the day that they needed to wait until.

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 10:06 AM) A #RedSox source said Youkilis being in the lineup is not indicative of anything one way or another. Trade remains in play. Per Pete Abraham Boston Globe Redsox beat writer Peter Abraham also just reported that Buccholz wil go on the DL today and that is the corresponding move for Cook being recalled today. This situation is just so strange.

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 09:35 AM) Wow, seems pretty weird with Bobby telling him to expect a long time on the bench. Maybe there are some games going on back and forth. Either way guess we won't find out in a few hours, looks like this one will drag on some more. Great lol. Bobby Valentine is an idiot.

QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 11:32 AM) Beckham just tweeted "Yolk!" about 10 mins ago FYI Haha yeah I asked him on twitter if he was eating eggs or if the sox were getting Youkilis

How are Erik Johnson and Jacob Petricka fairing down in the minors this year?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 10:49 AM) Which is pretty much what Youk has put up in June I know you have been hammering this point about how bad Youkilis has been for awhile now, and I can't dispute your concern. However, I am curious as to what you would do at 3rd. Would you continue with Hudson? Let Escobar play more? Maybe go with Conor Jackson or Dan Johnson? I don't disagree that Youk has been awful but what would you be in favor of?

I would trade Viciedo for Greinke if Greinke would sign an extension. Greinke will not sign an extension and I would also be worried about Zack in a market like Chicago. I agree with all of the posters with the fact that getting Greinke would be a major coup. I just don't think we have anywhere near enough to pry him away. I asked the same question earlier. If you were Doug Melvin, what would you find as a suitable return from the Sox for Greinke?

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 06:41 PM) I'm going to Fiers vs Quintana Sunday because it's a great day for a game. Besides, if the pitching is bad, the offense is usually good. Yeah I am free Friday and Sunday and decided on Friday. Sunday should be good though, especially with the celebration of the 1972 team.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 02:07 PM) So you're not buying Sox tickets because they won't be facing Darvish? I do not think this premise is that unreasonable. I will not pay to see the Sox again this year with Floyd or Humber pitching. I would go to Wrigley late this year to see Strasburg pitch but would never pay money to go see the Nationals vs Cubs with a different starter going. I'd still go to the Rangers series though but I do understand the point.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2012 -> 05:20 PM) In Byrnes chair, I'm holding out for Mitchell + one of the Sox's young relievers at the least. Headley's under control cheaply for several years, there's no reason to move him for less than that. Yeah I agree with this. I start with asking for Addison Reed and Mitchell. Settle for Mitchell and another arm. So the question then becomes, would you trade Mitchell and a reliever for Headley.
-
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 20, 2012 -> 05:03 PM) We gotsta get Chase Headley somehow. It's a perfect match. I just hope we have the bullets. It would be nice. However, I do not think we have the bullets. If you were Josh Byrnes, what would you want in return?
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 20, 2012 -> 02:39 PM) And Youkilis is? His OPS in June is lower than Orlando Hudson's. Since last July, he has been physically breaking down and sucking at baseball. Yeah I will give you that Youkilis is also overpaid. My point being, Thornton is also due $5.5 million next season.
-
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 20, 2012 -> 01:42 PM) Why? You trade a very good lefty reliever for a broken down 3B man. I don't see the grass being greener with this trade. He is not a very good lefty reliever anymore. He's fine. Not very good. And not worth what he is being paid.

Sox to offer $14 tickets for the Milwaukee Series 6/22-6/24
Y2Jimmy0 replied to ewokpelts's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Jun 20, 2012 -> 01:58 PM) and it looks like the $14 ticket is not moving as fast as those $5 toronto tickets..... I am going Friday night because Chris Sale is pitching. I bet the fact that Humber and Quintana go on Saturday and Sunday has something to do with that. The $14 seats are pretty high up but if you purchase them you can always move up to empty seats. -
Boston's bullpen is actually pretty good but if they would take Thornton for him I'd make the deal in a heartbeat. Even if Youkilis sucks now. Who cares? Thornton sucks too and I hate looking at him. 95 MPH straight fastball with no movement and no off speed pitches. He also walks people. I have always hated Matt Thornton and now I hate him more.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 01:50 PM) Only before July 2. Yes, thanks for the clarification. I was aware but I should have stated that fact in my post.
-
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 01:16 PM) That sounds good and all, but I think it is important to remember that this is a business first and foremost elrockin, Peter Gammons tweeted on Friday that the White Sox offered Soler somewhere between $25-30 million. If they offered that much to Soler, the same may be available for this kid.

Sox have a change in rotation for Cubs series.
Y2Jimmy0 replied to justBLAZE's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 09:40 AM) We bought for Wednesday JUST to see Sale pitch. Wtf. And my dad hates Floyd. I feel ripped off. Yeah that sucks. I bought tickets for the Friday game today because Sale is starting. Then shortly after that, Gonzalez tweeted that Sale would start if Floyd pitched in relief today. I would not have gone to see Gavin. -
QUOTE (Sockin @ Jun 15, 2012 -> 04:00 PM) It seems the Sox also bid quite a large sum of money on Mr. Soler. https://twitter.com/pgammo/status/213736894083760128 Yeah I saw this on twitter. I wonder if this means that they are finally getting it or even if they have more money to spend than was initially thought.

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 04:46 PM) Some might say it doesn't end there. Jaramillo is probably a fine hitting coach. He is just not an approach fit with what Epstein wants. They have preached OBP at every level and have improved at every level except with the ML Club. Now, I realize that the team is horrible and a hitting coach cannot change the way veteran players approach hitting, but Jaramillo is not a preacher of OBP so why bother continuing the relationship?
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 09:07 AM) I think swapping Floyd for DeLaRosa wouldn't be horrible, except for the fact we should wait for Gavin to go on his run for 2 months and see if we can get something even better. Kind of a change of scenery move, two pitchers with great stuff but suspect mental games. Marcum's much more doable than Greinke, but what are we willing to give up to get him? If his average fastball's only been 86-88 MPH this season, that would be a bit of red flag...but I haven't seen him pitch this year to make any type of comment on the movement or his K/9 rate. Can you imagine Sale, "The Franchise" Liriano and "good" Danks together in one rotation? Man the Brewers gave up Brett Lawrie for Marcum. Bad.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 01:29 PM) Lots of people reporting, no dollars yet. At least he stays in town though. I'd rather have him on the Cubs than for an American League rival.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 12:16 PM) No one is drooling over a 28 year old with no position and no track record of hitting, other than a power surge last year in limited time against favorable matchups. Who are you referring to? Not Trayce Thompson right.....he is 21 years old...
