Agreed. I'm not a fan
-
I think it’s their preference. The pitching class is underrated imo
-
This definitely feels like an inflection point with Ozzie and Stone breaking bad on Tony. Kenny being around is telling. He’d fire Tony if it were entirely his call. I don’t think anyone knows what will happen
-
Not happening
-
The draft is Sunday-Tuesday and the trade deadline soon after. Rick Hahn isn’t going anywhere.
-
I’d be pretty surprised if they picked Hjerpe
-
He’s often wrong on pitchers. Not many I trust more in position players though.
-
I don’t agree with Law this time. Horton was rehabbing all year essentially. You could argue that he’s the top pitcher in the college class. He’s got a big number, probably $4 million because he’s a top 10 pick next year if he returns.
-
Here's my latest mock draft for those interested: https://soxmachine.com/futuresox/2022-mlb-draft-report-mock-draft-iv/
-
He was the director for 4 drafts. Gavin Sheets might already be the best 2nd rounder in club history. I hated the strategy though but it’s not all on him. The Nick Madrigal pick didn’t help.
-
I don’t think this is fair. He drafted quite a few big leaguers. The drafts just lacked upside because they were so college heavy. Nick Hostetler isn’t averse to high school talent. The organization wanted to prioritize quick moving college players and Jerry Reinsdorf doesn’t like paying prep players $7 million. Hostetler brought the scouting department out if the stone ages, hired scouts, modernized the operation and started utilizing the available data finally. I’m glad it’s Mike Shirley’s show now but lots of hands in the cookie jar in this organization.
-
No. This season is brutal and they’re exposed. I actually like Rick Hahn. I’d be fine with him running the organization but he’s not. There are lots of issues and the only way to completely change it is by truly putting an outsider in charge. Maybe someone from Cleveland. It’s not happening though. Jerry probably sells within 3/5 years and there’s no chance he changes out the front office significantly before he goes. I’m guessing Hahn would replace him
-
No I mean Kenny's son. He's assistant director of PD
-
This is fine. Fire whoever. But firing Rick Hahn doesn't fix anything. So you let Jeremy Haber take over? Kenny is still there so it doesn't matter. Kenny has tentacles everywhere. Darryl Boston on the coaching staff, his dipshit son is 2nd in command of the minor leagues and they rehired Steverson to do some scouting. This entire organization needs an enema. Without the full house cleaning, it doesn't matter. And that's just not happening.
-
Agreed. Highest upside college starter for sure. I think he goes top 10 next year if he returns.
-
Any advice on how to rank him? This isn’t usually a struggle for me he’s a tough case.
-
No change in the latest Prospect's Live mock draft for the White Sox. These guys have lots of intel on the Sox usually. Good sources. Tucker Toman and Roman Anthony would be a very solid first day.
-
Crochet is on record as saying he wants to be a starting pitcher next year. Good luck with that.
-
Okay fair. I just don’t think it’s feasible to build him up as a starter on a contending White Sox team. You have to plan for like 7-8 starters because he’ll be really limited. What’s a feasible innings load for 2023? It just makes more sense for a team like Oakland than it does the Sox
-
Kopech started throughout the minors. Crochet didn’t even start in college. There’s just no innings base
-
Good point. I would’ve limited his innings with a plan to insert him in big league bullpen down the stretch. Do you think he’ll ever build enough innings to start because that’s what he wants to do next year. I don’t see it
-
What they did in 2020 was fine. As soon as Jerry Reinsdorf forced Tony La Russa on the front office though, his starting chances were basically over. No way Tony was going to allow that dude to pitch in the minors. Crochet needed to be in Double-A pitching every 5th day last year. Now he may never start because of it. That's a fair point on Shirley though.
-
Yeah I mean Mike Shirley took a reliever 11th overall in 2020 so who knows.
-
He hit two homers in a game last week
-
Hughes is realistic. Melton would surprise me. I'd be surprised by any college hitter at this point. I think it's prep bat or college arm.
