They didn't replace Rodon and pitching is an issue but I feel much better after the additions of Pollock and McGuire. The offense is ridiculous.
-
Yeah me neither. They aren’t trading Vaughn. That would be idiotic. They don’t have much to trade though.
-
Maybe. I doubt the Sox wanted to do Ramos and Thompson for 1 year of Manaea. I thought this would involve Burger or Sheets or it wouldn’t happen
-
Truly investing resources into scouting and development matters. Signing teenagers instead of older Cubans every year matters as well.
-
The 19-year-old infielder that the A’s got would be a top 5 prospect in the Sox system. Sox equivalent is like Jose Rodriguez or Kath/Montgomery I’d think. Sox likely weren’t doing that for a 1 year guy. Teams just aren’t interested in Sheets and Burger it seems. Shocking I know.
-
Agreed. He doesn't have the innings base to ever start now. They should try to lock him up long-term for reliever money at this point.
-
Okay cool. Thanks

There's a report that the Yankees have scratched Clarke Schmidt. If that's the piece for a potential Sean Manaea trade, the White Sox do not have an equivalent.
-
Yes. Yes it would have

They don't have to spend this much $$ on the bullpen. They're just choosing to. They should be doing both. Nobody would care about signing Kelly and Graveman if Conforto was in RF and Manaea was acquired. They didn't finish the job, which is the issue imo.
-
One point of mine on this is it comes with the territory of spending all the pool money in early rounds. If you overslot in 1-4, the best value in rounds 5-10 is college relievers essentially. Sox have used Weems, Horn and Moore in deals recently. Sousa will be in the big leagues. Bilious probably will be too. Shilling would be. Gil Luna and Caleb Freeman could be soon as well. I wasn’t a fan of the Crochet pick because I’d just always take position players that high because pitchers break. Then they rushed him and he’s basically forced into a bullpen role on a contending club. I’d argue the Sox have done a solid job finding future relievers that have value. They have to hit on their early overslot picks though for it to matter.

He throws 100 mph but he walks lots of guys. I’d think Sousa gets first crack. -
Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud

I mean they have one of the best teams in baseball so I'm going to enjoy that. I wanted an upgrade in right field but they don't really need a "major" transaction do they? -
Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Y2Jimmy0 replied to CentralChamps21's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No. The White Sox just don't have the players to even get close. The rumor is that San Diego would move Robert Hassell, Luis Campusano and Jackson Merrill potentially. That's an absolute haul. -

I think Gavin Sheets as the headliner for Sean Manaea made lots of sense if the White Sox then signed Conforto or added a different LHH outfielder. I'm not sure they can trade Sheets right now without doing that because they have to get more left-handed. It's imperative. Also from what i've heard, Sean Manaea would love to be with the White Sox and likely returns to the midwest in free agency regardless. This trade isn't up to him though obviously. -

I’m assuming that teams will still get a pick for losing free agents, they just won’t forfeit one. Could be wrong though. -
Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud

No but when I do projections I'm not going to factor in possible injuries. On paper, I'm not sure anyone is better than them in the AL regardless of how bad I think they handled this offseason. -

Are you assuming that Jimenez, Robert and Grandal miss large portions of the season again? -
2nd baseman stats? He didn't hit for enough power but he put up a 4.f fWAR season. He was the third best 3B in the entire sport last year.

In theory, this should help the White Sox attain the #1 seed which would be significant. Also, I'm not sure Houston is definitely a tier above. Carlos Correa is a huge loss and McCullers is hurt. -
Michael Conforto: His POV and the Wait

The White Sox would lose their 2nd round pick. There’s no chance they give Conforto a short term deal imo. -

Not as confident as I was earlier but rostering him makes very little sense. I’m not sure honestly. I’d imagine he gets moved still. -

They’re pretty solid. I think the Sox would mash their pitching though.
