  1. Lots of teams will be drafting seniors in like rounds 4-10 for sure. There are lots of money savers this year.
  2. I don't think they could make that deal without Crochet
  3. I'm curious to see how teams handle strategy in his draft. The White Sox can go to like $6.9 million if they choose (which they should). They have $6,618,600 for the first 10 rounds. I'm guessing that most teams will try to take money savers in rounds 4-10. The Sox will try to underslot a prep hitter at 22 IMO. Then they'll have $2 million to use at #57 and they could go over $1 million for their third pick as well. They should leave money in the pool so that they can get solid players in rounds 11-20. 11-20 is $125K without counting against the pool. There's no reason to take a college guy in the 7th round and pay him $150K. That entire $150K would count against the bonus pool. If they do it in rounds 11-20, only $25K would count against the pool. It's going to be interesting.
  4. What do you consider something of consequence? They don't have what it takes to get like a Ketel Marte. They don't need that though. I'm not even sure they could get Joey Gallo. They can absolutely get Starling Marte, Eduardo Escobar and either Ian Kennedy or Daniel Hudson though. Those would be impactful moves
  5. They travel to Asheville for 6 games starting on Tuesday
  6. With the White Sox picking at 22, we are writing up somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 players. We've already done a bunch and I will link them below. 7. Mercedes has two options years remaining. He can be sent down.
  8. Underrated guy. 18th rounder out of Miami in 2018. He can play CF and SS. Good college production and power. He’s got a chance
  9. They've also liked him. Seattle has always wanted a ton in return.
  10. The White Sox are very active in trade talks. I know that Arizona was a team they've talked to. I'm not sure about Pittsburgh. They're going to add. I don't know for sure what the targets are though. I'd target Marte from Miami and try to snag Escobar and Soria from Arizona. Then get closer to the deadline and acquire more relief pitching if necessary.
  11. I don't believe so. I don't think he's gone back to the DR at all which makes this strange. He was in Florida when he signed which is why he's able to be stateside without tax/bonus issues. Chris Getz said he was expected to go to Birmingham once visa issues were taken care of. He's been in Arizona though which doesn't make much sense.
  12. The Rays have the best pro scouting group in the league and a top 5 amateur scouting department. They make ruthless trades and don’t get killed publicly due to smaller market but it always comes back to scouting and development
  13. Yeah I agree with this. It's the Mike Shirley way
  14. These first two picks would be really fun
  15. As of now, they only have $2.7 million committed for the period that starts on January 15. Colas is the only known signing. They should have like $2.5 million.
  16. Yeah I'm not sure. The Sox slot is around $3 million. As a draft eligible sophomore, he could probably return to Florida and get more than that.
  17. They likely can’t afford prep pitching after taking a guy like Fabian
  18. Hahn isn’t speaking today. Not sure where that came from.
  19. This always humors me. He's old for the class. If he went to college though and declared in two years, he'd be getting praised for being young in the class. Funny how that works.
  20. The record is surprising but the struggles aren’t. Most of these guys haven’t played above complex ball and the pitching isn’t good. The prospects are on pitch limits and the rest is cheaper college picks that fill minor league rosters. Low A has been quite a jump for many of these guys. There isn’t really an alternative though.
  21. I’m guessing Hoglund still gets $3 million and Sox really can’t do that
