I'd probably move him to CF right away but the Sox would likely let him try to catch. He can play catcher. There's just no reason to do so if the bat is as good as advertised
-
I know they've taken prep pitching in round two of late but I still don't see them doing it in round 1.
-
I completed my second mock draft and posted it over at FutureSox. https://www.futuresox.com/2021/03/15/2021-mlb-mock-draft-2/

I have a mock draft coming out for FutureSox tomorrow.
-
Lopez likely starts in pen due to delayed minor league season. Lambert and Stiever will be the 7th and 8th starters IMO
-
Rodon will get it. He was guaranteed 3 million and doesn’t have options. Lopez might play out of the bullpen and Rodon really doesn’t. I still think Kopech occupies this rotation spot by July

Rodriguez could really take off or his aggressive approach could bury him. He can really hit but he doesn’t walk and he’s probably a 2B. We just went conservative overall with the Vera ranking. The $1.5 million bonus puts him in line with Thompson and Dalquist. Dalquist is safer and that matters. If Vera hits his ceiling, he’ll be really good but he’s pretty far away. He could pitch next fall stateside though and we might feel dumb having him as low as we do. Ranking Vera and Cespedes was tough because nobody has seen them. I generally favor ceiling but you have to weigh how likely a player is to reach that ceiling. Then the floor comes in and proximity to majors matters as well. -

What are you using to determine that he struggled mightily for 3 years? -

He might have. That’s quite a jump though. Those guys aren’t ready for that. I’d put Weaver in Kanny with Krogman and Bailey -

Ramos, Rodriguez and Bailey are expected in Kannapolis. Cabera Weaver and Lency Delgado as well. Kelley, Thompson and Dalquist very likely to be there too. I’m not sure about Gladney. He could go back to rookie ball and Beard definitely will. Bush likely goes to Winston along with Comas and Mieses. Sosa in Winston too. I’m not really sure on Cespedes yet. -
Generally speaking, yes. But there used to be strange rules in place where players not on the 40 man had to spend 20 days in minors if optioned.
-
It's all about 172 days of service. Those are the rules. They get a full season if they play in the majors for 172 days in 2021.
-
Actually, I'm wrong about this. I need to check the rules again. It's weird because Vaughn isn't on the 40 man.
-
He would go to the alternate site for like a week. Has no bearing AAA starting later.
-
The Dodgers sent down Gavin Lux just last year and were criticized for it. Every team does it because it's smart. 7 years of control is better than 6 years of control. It's pretty much a fact.
-
And Andrew Vaughn will be sitting on the bench in this scenario which seems dumb.
-
I think Jud Fabian is overrated as well. I hate the throws left, hits right profile. I love that Harry Ford is right there as #22. He's a name we should all keep an eye on.
-
It's very likely permanent. Just not announced.
-
He will likely sign in January 2022. Doesn't have a team yet.
-
I have conflicting info on that. I have no idea how old the kid is. The White Sox are signing him though whenever that is. As of now, the next period is scheduled for July 2 2021. It's expected to be moved back though because current period would only be 6 months then. If that happens, the players with deals for this July wouldn't sign until next January. Then the players (who already have commitments) for J2 2022 wouldn't be able to sign until January 2023. Meanwhile, the collective bargaining agreement expires in December and there could be an international draft anyway.
-
It's frustrating. I'm hoping the White Sox try and steal some players. There are some really talented dudes with commitments for the period that would've started on July 2 2022 that could become available at some point after January 15 2022. The Yanks for example are giving a SS $4 million in the next period. They are tied to Cuban CF Brandon Mayea in what was supposed to be the period after that. They can't sign both players if they end up available in the next class. The entire international market is insane right now.

They have 6 starters in majors not including Kopech. Add Flores, Lambert, Stiever and McClure. That’s 10
