It's very likely permanent. Just not announced.
-
He will likely sign in January 2022. Doesn't have a team yet.
-
I have conflicting info on that. I have no idea how old the kid is. The White Sox are signing him though whenever that is. As of now, the next period is scheduled for July 2 2021. It's expected to be moved back though because current period would only be 6 months then. If that happens, the players with deals for this July wouldn't sign until next January. Then the players (who already have commitments) for J2 2022 wouldn't be able to sign until January 2023. Meanwhile, the collective bargaining agreement expires in December and there could be an international draft anyway.
-
It's frustrating. I'm hoping the White Sox try and steal some players. There are some really talented dudes with commitments for the period that would've started on July 2 2022 that could become available at some point after January 15 2022. The Yanks for example are giving a SS $4 million in the next period. They are tied to Cuban CF Brandon Mayea in what was supposed to be the period after that. They can't sign both players if they end up available in the next class. The entire international market is insane right now.

They have 6 starters in majors not including Kopech. Add Flores, Lambert, Stiever and McClure. That’s 10
-
The issue is 40 man spots. I’d be surprised if Kubat pitches in majors for that reason. Sox 40 man is pretty loaded right now
-
He’s 20 right now. He will be 21 on June 1. He’s advanced so he’ll move quickly. There’s nothing stopping him from finishing in AA or AAA in 2022 IMO and being in big leagues after. Kopech will pitch the entire year at 25.
-
Cespedes had residency in Florida so he'll play stateside. Vera was in the DR. For tax purposes, he's signed in 2021 so there are issues with him playing stateside during signing year. Had he been able to sign in July, this wouldn't be an issue. It's not that big of a deal. It's pretty annoying though. I explained above.
-
Don't get your hopes up on Vera playing stateside this year. MLB really fucked these guys over. Signing in January instead of last July likely forces him to DSL this year
-
The guys that everyone hates have built a team that could win the World Series despite an unwillingness from ownership to act like the big market team that MLB classifies it as.

Vera officially signed with White Sox this morning
-
I disagree with this. The amount of money they’re allowed to spend is definitely the biggest issue

FS: Preseason 2021 Top 30 Prospects List 1-30
Y2Jimmy0 replied to Y2Jimmy0's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Thompson has the higher ceiling. He's a premium athlete at the position with a fastball in the mid 90's and a hard breaker. Dalquist has a 4 pitch mix and a much higher floor but we valued stuff and upside. Thompson is the better prospect right now. -
Why would you have no hope for Sheets? I wasn't a fan of that pick but he's absolutely useful now. 16 homers and 83 RBI in the Southern League is impressive. He's dropped 20 pounds and implemented swing changes. Rival scouts think he can be decent in an outfield corner. He's enhanced his profile quite a bit.

FS: Preseason 2021 Top 30 Prospects List (16-30)
Y2Jimmy0 replied to Y2Jimmy0's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think they’ll move him around and see if anything sticks. He’s in really good shape but the bat is the carrying tool obviously McClure worked with Ben Hansen and now looks to have a big league future. Rodriguez is super aggressive but can hit and Ramos is pretty exciting. He’ll play the entire season at 19. Thanks for reading! Next wave. He’s only 19 and he will start in Kannapolis. Even if he’s a trade piece, that’s a good outcome. He just needs to play. Burger belongs on the list. He’s healthy, in great shape and can really hit still. -
Norge Vera is signing with the White Sox. I'm not sure what the holdup is but it'll happen

FS: Just Missed-Prospects Outside the Top 30. Preseason 2021
Y2Jimmy0 replied to Y2Jimmy0's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Reports seem to indicate that Sosa won't stay at SS either and he's gonna need to hit a lot. He'll be back on at midseason. We don't rank after 30 but I'd guess Sosa and Weaver were the next guys on -

We included Vera. Collins isn't eligible -
Last week, I would've said no chance. Now I'm leaning towards him making the opening day roster.
