  1. Nah. The agent didn’t use the Sox in this case. Machado they absolutely did though.
  2. This one was a bit different. A typical Jerry Reinsdorf production. Sox 8/250 offer was highest for a long time. Machado wanted $300 million. JR wouldn’t ok the deal. Hahn knew they were toast the night before Machado took SD offer.
  3. This isn’t the case. Hahn negotiated a deal with the agent. 5/125. Sox have stellar reputation with that agent. Agent told Hahn he needed to check with Wheeler but that they likely had a deal. At that point, Wheeler instructed his agent to find something similar on east coast. This is why it was reported as Sox having higher offer. Sox weren’t trying to appease fan base. The agent was trying to save face with Sox going forward.
  4. I'd have it 1. Vaughn 2. Kopech 3. Crochet 4. Madrigal 5. Kelley 6. Dunning 7. Dalquist 8. Stiever 9. Thompson. Vera is in here too as soon as that becomes official.
  5. You can't trade Michael Kopechs when the owner doesn't play at the top of the free agent market
  6. I disagree. They can trade the prospects they don't see being impact players before they lose their value. Stiever is an excellent example of this. Well sure. I agree there. You're not getting a significant piece in return for Stiever as a headliner right now.
  7. They aren't going to allocate what it would take to sign Springer to the long-term budget. Crucify that point, sure. They deserve it. I think they should pay Springer 5/125 or whatever and stick him in RF. It doesn't sound like the White Sox are going to do that though.
  8. It's all true. Springer wants to lead off and play CF and he wants to be paid like it. If the White Sox offered him 5/125 and told him he's playing RF, I'm sure he'd take it. The Sox offered someone 5/125 last offseason. They just don't think a similar offer for Springer is the right thing to do regardless of how we feel about that.
  9. This might be true but it's a terrible strategy. Trading prospects right now in this environment just doesn't make any sense. The hope is that the changes to pro scouting greatly impact and improve the free agent additions. They could sign 5 players instead of Springer but they need to extract value from those 5 players instead of hitting on 1 of them and paying for past performance on the others.
  10. I also wouldn't do that. The White Sox don't benefit from a 1 year deal. Why would they give up a 2nd rounder for 1 year of Trevor Bauer?
  11. You don’t know me very well if you accuse me of carrying water for the organization. I wrote the article about the propogandic arm of the team carrying water after Machado. I’d love Springer. They’ve offered him a deal. Pederson seems more likely to me at this point so I wrote about Pederson. Springer is a luxury item that the Sox don’t need. They should sign him anyway but I don’t think signing Joc Pederson instead is a bad move. We can disagree. They can have a good offseason without having a home run offseason. I don’t need praise. I don’t give a shit. You’re entitled to your opinions but not your own facts. Do some research before calling me out. I can handle it if it’s fair. I wrote about the Sox as a hobby. I’ve never pretended to be an insider either. So it’s all good. I’m glad I created some discussion today.
  12. I doubt they’d move Kopech, Vaughn or Crochet for anyone this offseason
  13. Why don’t you put your real name on it? Keyboard Warrior.
  14. Dunning, Foster and a prospect OF for Wheeler and some $$
  15. Joc Pederson has been a White Sox target for years. The front office has spoken to his representation and he could finally play on the south side this year. I wrote about it at Southside Sox: https://www.southsidesox.com/2020/12/6/22155960/white-sox-joc-pederson-a-sensible-fit-joc-in-white-sox
  16. It's not. The problem is just the White Sox system. They won't trade Vaughn, Kopech and Crochet for anyone and the rest of the system was hurt severely from playing no games of consequence. I think they're in a tough spot trade wise
  17. The White Sox would do this rather quickly I feel like. Texas has been asking for Vaughn up to this point.
  18. Pitchers love throwing to JT Realmuto. I understand the arguments for McCann over Grandal even though I’ll never agree. I don’t think McCann is a guy that should be playing 120+ times per year though.
  19. I'm not sure what the Mets are doing. I'd much rather give JT Realmuto 5/100 than James McCann something like 4/40. McCann is going to be a huge disappointment playing full time.
  20. I spend a lot of time listening to White Sox related podcasts, sports radio etc. I think having Len Kasper as a member of the White Sox media team in general is awesome. I just like smart people covering my favorite team. That's all
  21. Of course it isn't as important as a big player addition. I never insinuated that it was. Nevermind.
