  1. There's talk that MLB will put together a prospect league to replace its traditional Arizona Fall League. What could those teams look like? Sean Williams broke down how the White Sox could measure up earlier this week: https://www.futuresox.com/2020/06/16/taking-a-look-at-a-potential-all-white-sox-arizona-fall-league-roster/
  2. Have you heard Rosemont because I've heard North Central College? Also, the extended fall league the way it was initially described sounds awesome. Every team would have their own "prospect team" during an extended AFL season. It would be pretty cool.
  3. The MLB playoffs are all heavily predicated on variance anyway. Instead of 10 teams having a chance to win a title, it'll be 16.
  4. Wouldn't necessarily be 2nd place in any division. It would likely be 3 division winners and 5 best records. That makes more sense.
  5. Absolutely. Marco Paddy is tight with Fernando Tatis Sr. If there's an international draft though, might not matter.
  6. For sure. You'll never land the Wander Franco's of the world with the strategy the Sox use though. They landed Fernando Tatis so it can happen, but they limit their ability to land talent. I'm thinking there will be an international draft in 2022. While that should help the White Sox, it also hurts a tad because Fernando Tatis' younger brother is the best of the bunch, and White Sox are favorites for him.
  7. It's part of it. Reinsdorf is very much opposed to signing kids at 13-14. Everyone else is doing it though. It's gross but they're behind because of it. He doesn't spend at the top of the market on free agents but he also doesn't spend on 16-year-olds. It's pretty bad business.
  8. This article is great for anyone interested in the shenanigans that take place in Latin America: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2020/06/16/mlb-international-free-agents-deals-underage-prospects/5334172002/ MLB and the MLBPA have allowed this exploitation to happen for years. Not allowing the trading of money and pushing the period back 6 months, doesn't make this any easier for many prospects and families.
  9. Yes. 100%. If they don't play this year, the 2020-2021 salary cap is going down and players will be taking huge pay cuts. Follow the money. The NBA is finishing their season.
  10. Lets say they sign Cespedes in January. Colas becomes available sometime in that calendar year. He'd have to wait until January 2022 to sign with the Sox. Teams already have the majority of their international space allocated though. There may not be money out there for him in the 2020 period. He'll be like 23 in the 2021 period. The whole thing is so stupid.
  11. Sounds like the 2021 period would start in January 2022 which is absurd. This is bad for White Sox but it’s also bad for Colas and Cespedes.
  12. I'm trying to find out what it means for the next period. It's stupid though because dates are arbitrary. All of these clubs have agreements in place for July 2 already. They won't become official until January now. All of these clubs also have agreements in place for July 2021. I would think that period stays the same because of the expiration of the CBA next December but we'll see. This could theoretically help the White Sox quite a bit though in their pursuit of Cespedes and Colas though.
  13. Because Tony Clark has run his mouth to everyone and their mother about how the MLBPA would sue for billions if so.
  14. The owners want to implement a 48-54 game season. They can't do that right now though because there's time on the calendar for way more games than that. In fear that they'd lose the grievance, they are looking to prolong this even further. I'm sure they'll mandate a 54 game season in a couple weeks when that is theoretically the maximum number they could do based on the calendar.
  15. I think it's less about safety and more about the Fox television deal personally. They want to be done with the season on September 27th because FOX will not be broadcasting MLB playoff games instead of the NFL. They want to to stick to current deal.
  16. Amateur players are future MLB players last time I checked.
  17. I personally think they've forfeited the right to talk about caring about future players after allowing the owners to machete the amateur draft.
  18. Players will turn down anything that isn’t full prorated. It’s not even worth it to offer anything else. The owners should offer 65 fully prorated in exchange for expanded playoffs.
  19. Ha. I’ve got nothing on Jeff Passan.
  20. I’m sure they’ll sign some guys. Shirley even said as much. They really don’t have a ton of room for players though. These guys they sign could ultimately end up released before even playing a game in 2021. It’s not something anyone should be frustrated about IMO
  21. Nah. Follow the money. The players will play because if they don't, next year's salary cap will go down and the players will be taking huge pay cuts.
