  1. Lol…I wonder if that combined with the snitching is what got him the job. I bet Jerry was impressed with his creativity even if it ultimately didn’t accomplish a much of anything.
  2. I met someone back in November who hung in the same circle as Getz when they were at Michigan and the guy told me Chris was legit stupid and he was greatly concerned that he’d be a terrible GM. So far, that appears be some tremendous scouting of Getz.
  3. Getz pulling off multiple deals in ~24 hours seems far fetched. More likely he combines Crochet, Brebbia, & DeJong into one large, bad deal and calls it a day.
  4. Spite trades don’t end well usually…doesn’t help when Getz & crew are making them
  5. He must have at least five. He hasn’t accrued a full just yet. Was curious if maybe he had six years of control left but probably not.
  6. In all honesty? Probably heard Getz say Crochet was on the back burner until a Fedde trade finalized, found out how little it would cost to help facilitate a trade to the Cardinals, and will now get Crochet for 50 cents on the dollar because Getz has no clue what he’s fucking doing.
  7. There is no such thing as salary dump for players who have surplus value. We just overvalued what we got and/or undervalued what we gave up.
  8. Sure, but we traded a bunch of guys who made very little in the grand scheme of things. My point is we wouldn’t have eaten any money if we were in great financial distress.
  9. I’m still in utter disbelief by this trade. Like I want to be an optimist, but I just don’t fucking see it. I felt the same way with the Fletcher trade and to a lesser extent with the Santos trade. This just reeks of overzealous scouting by Gene Watson and a front office who doesn’t know to appropriately value players (which is not surprising given our lack of analytical muscle). This trade is built like we think we’re getting a legit top 40 overall prospect and not a former one who has shown some serious warts in his first 430 plate appearances. Just feels way too light and CBSSports talked to three rival evaluators who said as much. Getz is so in over his head right now and not bringing in a veteran GM as an advisor to help think through things (like how to handle your first trade deadline) was a massive miscue. Like how the f*** has Crochet been on the back burner this whole time while Getz focused entirely on this whopper of a trade. This franchise is completely and utterly fucked thanks to Chris Getz.
  10. You know the trade is a total fucking disaster when Harold can’t even show his face to defend it.
  11. lol…but honestly, they’ll have to spend it on something. I can’t see us rocking a sub $80M payroll even when rebuilding. And if they dump Benintendi, we’re basically sitting on nothing. I just don’t see the allure of signing the tier of free agent that will likely fall off a cliff before you can ever be competitive again.
  12. We’re on pace for 120 losses. We need a talent infusion, not an extra $16M to go buy Santander before he turns into a pumpkin.
  13. Officially under 30 hours to go! Hopefully Getz got his adderall prescription refilled because he’s got a long night ahead of him!
  14. Smoke from where? Haven’t seen a single person outside this board suggest the Sox are trying to dump Benintendi by packaging him with someone of value.
  15. De Paula for Fedde straight up would be a no brainer
  16. I gotta disagree with most of what you say here. Fedde is 100% gone. If the value isn’t there now, it won’t be there come the offseason. Pham is 100% gone as well. To say a contender wouldn’t want a guy with a 140 wRC+ against LHP is just silly. Kopech I’d put at a 95% chance of being moved. The Sox probably won’t just give him away, but I think they are highly motivated to move on from him and in this market someone will offer something of value. I’d put DeJong at 75% chance of being moved. You will only get a lottery ticket for him and perhaps there is a small chance the Sox decide to hold him for posturing reasons, but I seriously. Hell, I’d probably put Flexen at like 50% of being moved, although you will practically get nothing for him since he’s more or less just an innings eater.
