  1. He has been -18 in OAA in LF prior to this season. He’s really never been good out there, but rather average at best. Perhaps I’m overreacting to the drop-off this year, but he’s basically Scotty Pods without the speed or range. And that is a very mediocre baseball player and definitely not worth a five year commitment.
  2. Yes, we need wholesale change, but we all know that Hahn is a problem. There is zero downside risk to firing him and going with someone else. Realistically, we need to bring in someone from the outside to be our President of Baseball Ops and let them scorch Earth this org. I think outside of Shirley & Paddy, all other members of the front office should be on the chopping block. But I’ll take a Hahn firing as an appetizer to hopefully bigger things to come.
  3. I view this as a positive thing. This season has been one of the most disastrous in franchise history. Not just underperformance from many key players, but we also have outed clubhouse turmoil, players not pulling for each other, a lack of urgency to win, a clearly incompetent manager, and a GM who continues to be terrible in free agency, failed to fill critical holes, and secured zero pitching depth in the upper minors. It should be as clear as day to everyone involved that something is rotten in this org and Jerry has finally acknowledged that. For better or worse, that’s the first step to change. I am optimistic for the first time in forever that Hahn might not make it to next season. That won’t solve the root of the problem, but would theoretically be a start to fixing this s%*# show.
  4. Imagine giving a bad defensive LF who can’t hit for power the largest contract in franchise history. Just such a terrible deal and it sucks that we’ll stuck with him for another four years.
  5. I am continually amazed just how bad he is. Honestly, if he gets a second season it’s simply because Jerry is too cheap to buy him out of his contract.
  6. Yup, you’re 100% right. There is no concrete plan, but they clearly think there is some path to contention next year. I just don’t know how they think that’s even remotely possible with only one good starting pitcher in place. Regardless, you don’t trade real prospects (or pay big dollars) for Salvy to be a mentor Lee and eventually Quero. If they’d eat a massive chunk of his salary and take lottery ticket prospects then maybe, but I don’t see the Royals doing that.
  7. So much wrong with this. Trading prospects for Salvy both acknowledges they think this group can still be salvaged and that they plan to compete next year. And the Hahn the water-carrying is beyond pathetic. Yes, he wasn’t allowed to sign the premier free agents and was forced La Russa, but he’s also responsible for the broader organization that wasn’t able to provide a pipeline of talent and wasted tens of millions of dollars on crap free agents.
  8. I love that KW is gambling on a bunch of former top pitching prospects: Honeywell (#14 overall per BA in 2018) Patino (#18 overall per BA in 2020) Toussaint (#53 overall per BA in 2019) Garcia (#55 overall per BA in 2021) If even one of these guys reaches a fraction of their ceiling, it’s a huge win for us. Giving guys like this an opportunity is exactly what we should be doing in a lost season…Pedro be damned.
  9. Wow wow wow…I’m legit embarrassed to be a White Sox fan
  10. You’re probably right, but I don’t recall him ever being this high on a Fangraphs prospect list. Not even sure I remember making the top 100, but if he did he was in the 80 to 100 range.
  11. FWIW, Fangraphs has Ramos as the #44 prospect on The Board.
  12. That’s not the issue…saying meaningless wins in a lost season are more important than the development of young players who could theoretically help in you know, a winning season, is a level of stupid I didn’t think was possible.
  13. Here were Pedro’s key goals for the club this year: “We will communicate” - Can’t be good when guys aren’t pulling for each other and when our CF doesn’t even know the bench coach’s name “We will be fundamentally sound” - Still lots of stupid on a regular basis “We will play with passion and pride for this uniform. This means something.” - Majority of team has played with little passion and a complete lack of urgency as the season quickly withered away “We will respect the game, our fans, and earn their trust” - Perhaps the least fun Sox team I have ever watched (largely due to issues above) and fan interest is at an all-time low “We will control the strike zone on both sides of the ball…” - Currently ranked dead last in offensive walk rate and 2nd worst in pitching walk rate “We will work hard and play winning baseball every night and definitely will hold each other accountable.” - 4th worst record in all of baseball and we now have proof there are no rules or accountability What a fucking fraud. Send his ass back to KC where he belongs.
  14. And how did thread not exist already??
  15. Good fucking god fire this idiot!
  16. Any idea on what the Dodgers paid in bonus for these two guys? I can’t find anything on the internet, so I’m guessing they were relatively cheap signings. While this is 100% better than nothing and the guys seem semi-interesting, it’s very frustrating that we’re sitting here in August with unused funds and the best plan available is trade them to another club. I still remain a Paddy fan and would love to see how different he would operate if not constrained by a Jerry Reinsdord led organization.
  17. Our 1B is sporting a 106 wRC+ in his third professional season. Just a massive disappointment and not a guy I’d be hyping up if I were in the Sox marketing department. Should be Robert or bust with this crew.
