  1. I love you caulfield, but you really need an editor. Way too many thoughts and random names to make sense of what you’re saying.
  2. This isn’t remotely true. There is talent on the roster, but the front office and coaching staff simply isn’t able to get it out of them.
  3. I’m still blown away we have so many former top 10 to 20 prospects and the lineup is absolute garbage.
  4. Poor KW & Hahn…they got stuck with all those lousy players and managers. If only they weren’t dealt such an unfortunate hand we might actually be good right now!
  5. Have you ever seen Yoan Moncada? Dude is basically built like a linebacker. Acting like eating a bunch of Twinkies means anything is ridiculous. The swing & miss was a concern, but was still able to be a +4 win player despite high K rates. His problems since COVID have been physical.
  6. He’s on pace for 3.7 fWAR…nothing league average about that.
  7. This is it right here. I won’t excuse Hahn‘s horrendous free agent track record, but working for Jerry has certainly created some restrictions at the top of the market. However, Hahn oversees the whole ship and failed massively in terms of amateur scouting and player development. He has no one to blame there but himself since he handpicked Hostetler and Getz to lead those functions.
  8. Moncada legit looked special pre-COVID and back problems. I think we failed him some in terms of development, but there are other factors that have caused him to underperform vs. his potential.
  9. Burning it down isn’t going to work, but somehow the current strategy of going for it with a flawed roster, no money, and no minor league reinforcements magically will now? Don’t get me wrong, if nothing else changes, nothing is going to work, but the status quo has proven to be a massive failure.
  10. Truer words have never been spoken. I’m confident the Orioles would give up an absolute haul of players to add Cease to their core right now. I think people sometimes forgot that with potential trades like this involving a highly valuable, controllable asset is you need the right market conditions to get a really strong return. Ignore the pure injury risk, there is no guarantee that this off-season or next year that teams will still have both the prospect currency and desire to make a trade like this happen. Take advantage of an insane seller’s market right now and get multiple partially developed pieces that could help us by 2025.
  11. And worrying 8 years down the road has cost us significantly. But that’s the problem when you have so much job security and you got plan out a full decade…lol.
  12. You may have missed my many posts in the “Fire Rick Hahn” thread. I hate that dude, I hate KW (slightly less than Rick), and I hate Jerry. We are fucked forever with those guys at helm, but until they’re gone I still will hope we do smart things in isolation. Once the determination was made to not extend Lucas, the smart move was trading him. Rick actually got a solid return which isn’t all that surprising because Lucas was a Hahn proof asset in this market. These latter statements can all be true while also acknowledging Rick is the worst GM in baseball. Also, this “the Angels system sucks” commentary is meaningless in the grand scheme of things. We got two of their best prospects. Their entire farm system ranking is irrelevant. Imagine if we traded Montgomery & Schultz for a rental SP not named Ohtani - think any seller would be unhappy with that because our overall farm is garbage?
  13. I will say Rick looked shook in that interview last night. Had that same pout face he was rocking during the first La Russa interview. I’m not sure he’s the one making these trades. I’m hoping he may simply be the face of the front office at this point since KW doesn’t like getting out in front of the camera.
  14. I wouldn’t recommend looking at the upcoming free agent catcher list.
  15. But this trade and giving Lucas 5/$125 aren’t mutually exclusive. We can go out and sign him if we really want to. Regardless, this team is almost certainly going to suck next year or two with or without Lucas. I think most of us have come to reality on that, but apparently some posters haven’t yet accepted we have an awful fucking team and farm system that isn’t going to magically rebound next year by maintaining the status quo.
  16. I have no idea what this means. Why does this suck? Yes, it’s sad to see Lucas go. He is my son’s favorite player as well as his jersey. But Lucas was leaving regardless. Would you rather have a pick after the second round of next year’s draft or this package? You guys needs to take the emotion out of this. This is a good trade from a value perspective. Obviously it sucks from a near-term winning perspective, but I’ve long since come to terms with that fact regardless of this trade happening.
  17. Well obviously context matters. Trading off pieces means we failed, so yeah not good. But signing Lucas to a nine figure when the rest of the team sucks isn’t really the answer. And guess what, we can still go sign him this off-season if we wanted to offer him the most money. Nothing has changed in that regard, but now we have added to two quality prospects to a really bad system. Holding Giolito for his last 10 starts on a 100 loss team would have been the definition of insanity.
  18. I don’t see how this fucks them. They got a very nice package with a young catcher as the centerpiece. Given they have other SPs they may want to sell and other potential sellers who could join the mix between now and Monday, selling Lucas early while he was the best pitcher on the market made all the sense in the world IMO. I actually thought Hahn would do the opposite and botch the strong position he was in by waiting.
  19. If they make the right trades with those guys, they might be able to compete by 2025. And that would be great because you’d still have three years of Robert.
  20. Lynn is 100% getting moved. Nightengale basically confirmed he will be the next piece traded. The question then becomes are they really serious about competing next year or is this simply posturing. My gut tells me they are open to trading Cease or Tim, but only if they get sufficient value. I just can’t imagine Rick actually believes there is a path to competition next year and the Giolito doesn’t actually help in that regard.
  21. If they’re serious about winning next year, then they must be planning to fire Pedro and his staff. And the payroll cut rumors must not be true, because there is little to no help in the upper minors right now.
  22. I’m 50/50 on this Bob claim being true. But if it is, I still see Lynn, Middleton, & Kelly being moved at minimum, with Clevinger, Graveman, & Bummer also being possibilities.
  23. You realize we can resign Giolito & Lopez if we’re willing to pay them the most money, just like if we held onto them for some reason? Nothing has changed other than we now two legit prospects.
