The other problem is the person willing to pay $90 a ticket probably isn't a bleacher guy. I'm not saying the White Sox are currently optimizing profit with their pricing decisions, but that's clearly the goal of the dynamic pricing model. There are obviously going to be some kinks along the way, especially early on. The Cubs/Sox series is probably a great example, as I'm assuming the pricing model overestimated demand for the series. Honestly, the overall interest for the series this year was at an all-time low. A model is going to struggle to predict that if it's using historical data of any kind. I'm sure the Sox will find ways to avoid most of these types of issues in the future.

We are coming to a crossroads soon, and I have concerns about our ability to remain competive if we continue getting no offensive production out of 3B. Giving Dan Johnson the job is the ultimate last resort decision, but he'd get some walks and hit some HRs, which I'd hope would compensate for the defensive downgrade he presents. I guess I don't see the harm at this point. If he sucks, which is very possible, give the job back to ODog or hopefully Morel eventually. I just think we need to try something, because things can't get much worse at 3B.

Things could be much f***ing worse than first place. Also, if anyone is seriously concerned about the Royals, then I've lost all respect for them as a poster. I don't give a f*** about their 4 game winning streak, there is practically no chance of them finishing third or better.

They are going to scout him and see a young, left-handed pitcher with the stuff to be a dominant reliever and possibly a starter. That's incredibly valuable, despite his rookie struggles. And I don't care if Quintana was picked off the scrap heap. If a team thinks he can be a major league starter, then he'll have value. Cheap, cost-controlled left-handed aren't easy to come by.

Juan Silverio is not a great prospect, but he's only 21 and has some interesting tools, which makes him an important player in a system as bad as ours. Any value he has or can develop is based on his ability to play 3B. Right now that looks unlikely, but you need to keep out there in case he can make some progress. Since Silverio is age appropriate for his league and not dominating, there really is no need to promote him yet. The same logic applies to Ravelo, even if there was a spot available in Winston Salem.
