  1. We literally moved back to Chicago two months ago and my son already asked about going to SoxFest. Cowardly doesn’t even begin to describe how big of bitches these guys are.
  2. Very excited it’s Espada. Obviously we aren’t sitting in on these interviews, but from a fan’s perspective he checks all the boxes we can see.
  3. The money could be an issue, but not sure I’m overly worried about competing for a first time manager with the Marlins & Royals. The money shouldn’t be big. Also, when Tony took the role this was one the best jobs in baseball. No doubt it’s not anywhere as attractive as it was once, but there is still a ton of talent on the roster. Honestly, it’s hard to gauge what we have given the Tony factor, but I wouldn’t be completely surprised if outsiders view this as a much better opportunity than Sox fans do. Out of all the players who underperformed last year, Grandal is the only one that you can confidently say likely is cooked. I’ll keep saying it, but put a manager with a pulse in the dugout and this suddenly is a much better club. Finally, while the system certainly isn’t good, it’s made major strides over the past 12 months. There is a pretty solid group of positional prospects that should be ready in the next two years or so and a ton of pitching in the lower minors. I think it’s good enough to not be a major deterrent when it comes to competing against other potential landing spots like KC & Miami.
  4. Best vacancy remaining…give me Espada please.
  5. TBH, I see a roster with a ton of low hanging fruit in a shitty division. If we hire someone with any sort of pulse, I expect a much better product next year. Will it be enough to make the playoffs? Who knows, but I’d rather take my chances on the southside than those other two options. KC is flat out one of the worst jobs in baseball and Miami has three legit quality teams ahead of them. It may not just be a while before they win, it may simply never happen during their next manager’s tenure.
  6. Miami has to compete with three quality clubs. I personally wouldn’t find that very attractive.
  7. Florida is literally like the worst state in the US outside of being warm & sunny.
  8. Set roster for next year, but I get your point. I just think playing in the weakest division in baseball is a huge plus. I think it could be argued either way though.
  9. I think we’re a far more attractive destination than Miami & KC. And I’d also place us above Texas, but could see the argument there.
  10. How does Ozzie make any sense? He’s a selfish asshole who is going to manage the way he thinks makes the most sense and will not partner with the front office on strategic decision-making. Bringing back this clown would be the ultimate way to explode this dumpster fire of a team.
  11. They haven’t reached out to Maddon and Hahn already declared Ozzie won’t happen. Let’s be honest, Guillen quit on his own time because he wanted an extension and basically forced us to trade him to the Marlins before the season was over. Add in all the disgusting baggage with his s%*#-bag sons and it’s very clear he won’t be coming back ever.
  12. If I were Hahn, I’d be looking for two primary traits from a manager candidate. First, they must be capable of leading a major league clubhouse, which means finding ways to get the most out of the guys on a daily basis and being able to hold players accountable for poor performance or effort. Second, they must have a willingness to leverage analytics into their decision-making. Can’t have some old school guy who wants the low OBP fast guy at the top of the lineup or who is willing to sacrifice outs to manufacture one run at a time. A third very nice to have would be bilingual, but can’t consider it being critical as that need can be addressed through the rest of the coaching staff.
  13. Maddon is an egomaniac and it was clear towards the end of his Cubs tenure that he wasn’t that good of a manager. He almost cost them a World Series with his need to insert himself into the games. I want us to cast a large net, but I’m ok with him sitting on the sidelines here.
  14. I don’t think there is any chance they go internal. Worst case scenario, Jerry or KW interfere with the process and bring in a veteran manager from outside the organization. Hopefully that’s not the case and Hahn can pick his own guy, so we can finally hold him 100% accountable for the on-field product.
  15. To be honest, I assume it’s someone from Soxtalk, with you and Mahoney as the primary suspects. As such, I listened for a few minutes to see if he gave any clues (I can confirm it’s not you by his voice). Unfortunately, all he did was provide bad opinions and get made fun of for being Orlando. It was a very painful listen. His podcast should be riveting though.
  16. Lol…were you on his “spaces”? Dude knows nothing and it’s embarrassing how fraudulent he really is.
  17. Honestly, I don’t how that’s viewed. I always assume the bench coach is 2nd in command in the dugout, but clubs may view it more or less being a lateral move vs. a 3rd base coach job. Washington would make a ton there though.
  18. I think Washington would be an improvement over Tony, but we desperately need someone who will bring a more modern approach to the role. Ron would be great to fill out a staff, but we should strive higher for our manager spot.
  19. Is there actually anything connecting us to Long?
  20. Pretty much confirms Washington would be KW’s choice
  21. Footlong Comiskey Dog doesn’t know anything though.
