  1. Yes, assuming Hahn shakes up the offense. Guys are obviously underperforming, but some of them to levels that aren’t sustainable. Firing the hitting coach and releasing Big Energy would be good first steps.
  2. Agree…it would be very bizarre if true
  3. He said we couldn’t release Keuchel because he read somewhere that in the new CBA if you DFA someone you are on the hook for any potential vesting option even with a different team.
  4. I know people hate firing the hitting coach when players struggle, but there is no way in hell I’d give up on either of these guys or Eloy without providing them access to a new voice. Grandal’s approach at the plate in particular is radically different from the rest of this career. Sucks for Menanchino, but I think it’s time to make a change.
  5. His pessimism really went off the rails with that one.
  6. The sacrifice has finally be made!
  7. The scary part is I don’t know how you fix the offense. I just don’t see a ton of bats that will be readily available that are left-handed, play RF or 2B, and will not command a massive cost. At a minimum, the Sox should give Yogurt a look at 2B, but that’s going to move the needle much against good RHP. Hahn ignoring the need for a left-handed power bat for multiple offseasons is immensely frustrating.
  8. It’s beyond crazy…dude is completely cooked.
  9. The first mistake we made was not going all in on Bryce Harper after we missed out on Machado. I will never for the life of me understand the thinking there and that miss continues to haunt us to this day with a struggling RH heavy offense. The next miss was Wheeler as having him instead of Keuchel would be a compete game changer for the franchise. Can’t really blame Hahn for that one, but sucks nonetheless. Hiring La Russa was the next major mistake and its impact is hard to quantify. His in-game decision-making has been terrible and the team seems to be underperforming well beyond what any of us could have predicted. How much of that is on Tony is up for debate, but I’d argue his lack of energy is playing some role in it. Finally, Hahn had an epically bad offseason with multiple questionable decisions. No idea what his plan was coming out of the lockout, but refusing to add a single impact player to the core and instead dumpster diving at multiple spots has cost us dearly. And resigning Leury for three years when there was zero chance the market would have bared such a contract is one of the most mine-boggling decisions in recent memory. Perhaps Tony had a role there, but it was shockingly bad signing the moment announced even if the primary reason of our struggles this year.
  10. But that batting average though!
  11. Yeah, what a classless fanbase…glad Timmy was able to silence their asses
  12. He’s got three of them tonight. He’s now sitting right at the Leury Garcia line.
  13. They need to or this is all for naught. But you’re probably right with Hahn calling the shots.
  14. Will need to retool prior to the deadline. Can’t afford to waste the last two years of Giolito and the rest of this rotation. Realistically, I don’t know what you do though. Releasing Big Energy and calling up Yogurt should have already happened, but that isn’t nearly material enough to move the needle. They need an impact LH power to slot in somewhere, but just not sure who and where.
  15. When it’s a team wide issue you really don’t have a choice.
