  1. Harvin Mendoza a double away from the cycle and still a chance to bat again. Also, Ramos 2/5 and not even a peep! Dude is insane right now.
  2. We really need to hope the recent banner change can offset Tony’s incompetence and get us another win tonight.
  3. I’m fine resting guys more frequently once you get later in the season and guys are starting to wear down, but when the team is in a total rut early in the season you do everything you can to win a few in a row and rebuild the team’s confidence. This shit isn’t that hard, but Tony can’t help but over-manage and make winning more challenging than it already is.
  4. Fully agree on the first point. You don’t rest one of your best hitters when one of your other best hitters is out unless you absolutely have too.
  5. Down 4.5 games and dealing with multiple injuries, yet feels compelled to rest one of our best hitters in early May when we finally have a chance to build some momentum. Just zero sense of urgency with this clown and further proof he’s no longer capable of being a quality major league manager.
  6. So basically has one more start to show something or else he’s likely out? Seems to make some sense.
  7. The Sox are undefeated since the new banner! It’s already paying off! Thanks @Kalapse!
  8. So obviously this lineup is really struggling right now, especially against RHP (we currently have a league worse 69 wRC+). A lack of on-base percentage has been the driving factor and it’s easy see why when the lineup is filled with multiple guys in the low single digits in terms of walk rate. Yoan is coming back soon and should help address both areas. The question is where do you slot him and what other changes do you make to the lineup against RHP? Here is how I’d structure the lineup going forward: Anderson, SS Robert, CF Moncada, 3B# Abreu, 1B Vaughn, LF Grandal, C# Pollock, RF Sheets, DH* Harrison, 2B I think we need to put him directly in the #3 spot. I want that on-base percentage (.385 last year against RHP) directly in front of Jose & Vaughn. Ultimately I think clustering our top five hitters near at the top of the lineup is the key to get things going. And they need to be in the lineup nearly everyday. If they need a rest, give them a day at DH. There are other things I’d like to see too. First, Grandal needs to be bumped down until he figures his shit out. Both his BB rate & ISO are lacking right now, but I do expect those to come around even if last year ends up being a bit of an outlier. Either way, he needs to start much more a C as we can’t afford McGuire’s invisible bat draining the lineup as much as it is right now. This even more critical if you plan on giving the guys above an occasional DH start. Finally, Leury needs to be on the bench far more often. As bad as Harrison has been, his xwOBA is over 50 points higher than Legend’s. He needs to be the primary guy at 2B even if he isn’t a greater solution there. And as for RF, when Pollock needs time off (and he will) it should be Engel getting the starts and not Leury. I don’t care that we’re talking against RHP, Legend isn’t good against them either and brings a very undispiplined approach. At this point, I want Leury getting the least amount of playing time until the rest of the offense starts heating up. What are your thoughts on there? Where does Yoan slot in and what other lineup changes would you makes against RHP?
  9. I totally can respect that point of view, but I’m not sure a random AAA arm would be any worse at this point than Dallas. I’d still like to find a way to shake things up though even if it’s not sacrificing Dallas. The positional guys aren’t delivering, but just not sure what you can do there. I hate blaming the hitting coach, but perhaps that’s what it needs to come to at some point. In reality, a new manager with a little life to him would probably reinvigorate the team, but Jerry will never let it happen.
  10. He’s probably the best example of a late breakout I could find, but he’s technically just under the 23 figure I was citing. There just aren’t ton of examples even close to 23.
  11. A WR breaking out at 24 years of age and being a solid WR in the NFL has never happened, at least not based on the data I have access to over the past twelve or so years. Has never even happened for a +23 year old either. It’s not uncommon, it would be unprecedented. You’re also ignoring the fact that a 24 year old should be more physically developed than the 20 & 21 year olds he’s competing against. Just like in baseball, there is a reason you typically discount the production of a minor leaguer when it comes against much younger competition. Doesn’t mean things couldn’t have suddenly clicked for this kid, but there are certainly a lot of red flags. Also, I gotta disagree that taking a 25 year old special teams player in the 3rd round when you have limited draft capital and are just beginning a multi-year rebuild makes sense. By the time our team is actually good, this dude is going to be 27 years old at minimum. The reality is they picked him over other WRs in the 3rd because they expect him to be much more than just a special teamer. Hopefully Poles is on the money here, because the lack of weapons & protection for Fields at the moment is really concerning.
  12. This team is a mess and needs a fucking wake-up call. Given the GM & manager are likely off-limits, I think it’s time for Dallas to be DFAed. He’s an automatic loss at this point and would make a perfect sacrifice given his veteran status. Also, with an off-day this coming Thursday, we can skip his next start and buy us a bit more time for Cueto to be ready. What do you guys think? Is now the time to cut bait on Keuchel? If not now, how much rope do you give him? Either way, something big has to happen to snap this team out of its funk.
  13. It’s basically like playing three auto outs at the bottom of the lineup. Need Moncada back ASAP.
  14. Sure seems like they should cut bait with him and give Cueto a shot.
  15. We really need Moncada back…that bottom three is awful.
  16. I’m talking about college breakouts. The majority of high end NFL WRs had a dominant season early in their college career. A guy finally breaking out in college at 24 years of age and being successful in the NFL would be a first. Doesn’t mean it can’t happen, but it would be unprecedented.
  17. Lol…he started college in 2016 and played in 23 games across 2020 & 2021, but yeah let’s go blame the pandemic.
  18. More passive aggressive shots…I love it! So you’re cool with using a 3rd round pick on a soon to be 25 year old WR who has one year of semi ok production? Name me a single quality NFL WR who had a breakout age of +24.
  19. Who cares that Valus is almost 25, he’s got a healthy knee, can run routes, and plays a position
  20. Fields’ top three WRs are Mooney, Pringle, & Jones God help us all…
  21.
