Everything posted by Chicago White Sox

  1. They were going to add one of those AAA arms to potentially eat innings, a little surprised it’s Banks though.
  2. Lambert was in camp and should be the key starter down in AAA. Stiever is out until June or July as he recovers from last surgery.
  3. Do we know for sure it works that way even if called up and eventually released?
  4. This move probably doesn’t help over the first four weeks all that much. Definitely need another multi-inning guy ASAP. Either one of the Charlotte guys not on the 40 man or will need to be a claim / trade in the next couple days. I really hope they can find a trade partner for Adolfo that’s willing to give up some major league reliever because carrying Micker for a month seems like a really bad idea right now given the need for innings out of the bullpen.
  5. Where do you see that and where’s Lambert?
  6. Given Cueto won’t be ready for a few weeks, I wonder if the Sox bump up McClure to the 40 man. No way they go with only 13 pitchers to start the season, but that’s all they have in camp at the moment.
  7. All they are committing to right now is building him up in AAA for a few weeks. TBH, it’s a no-brainer move even if you’re still pursuing something better. Who isn’t to say we don’t suffer another injury in the next couple week.
  8. VV is usually solid in even years so we’ll have to see about that
  9. Minor league deal…they continue searching for a better starter and simply keep Cueto in AAA until he needs to be released. Not a perfect solution, but way better than nothing and other readily available options.
  10. Just started a new thread since it’s now confirmed
  11. That was quick. If true, hopefully they start stretching him out ASAP.
  12. It’s only a misdemeanor and I’d argue a positive Parkman is worth that sacrifice.
  13. What is there not to enjoy about the Sox? Two straight playoff appearances for the first time in our lifetimes? Should hopefully be three in a row with this coming season. One of the most talented young teams in all of baseball. Franchise high payroll. Life is good right now even if everything isn’t perfect. I too like many of us here let the team get the best of me at times, but you got to put things into perspective. We could be god damn Pirates or Rockies fans. Once the season starts, I’ll happily stop whining about the subpar offseason and enjoy the great team we have in place and you should do the same. We can always complain about Rick Hahn if his failings to add SP depth actually cost us a playoff spot or a potential bye. Until then relax a little bit and enjoy the ride because aren’t always going to have teams this talented & fun.
  14. Cueto is probably the best bridge if he can be ready within two weeks and will sign for less than Velasquez money. Otherwise, I’m just not convinced he won’t be a guy you’re looking to DFA in a month or so and that’s not worth $4M or whatever.
  15. It’s not about wants Jack, we need you here brother. The problem is you let your nerves get the best of you. You really need to find a way to destress and clear your mind. If that means rubbing one out in a Dollar Tree parking lot then so be it. Consistently being this pessimistic can’t be good for your health.
  16. Honestly, just running the numbers, but there is no way we survive April without another starter or swingman. Kopech is going to need one of Lopez or Velasquez paired with him while the other one starts when games don’t allow us to skip the 5th starter. And we’ll need someone to be ready for mop-up duty on days when Keuchel starts. They will add a multi-inning guy of some sort, even if it’s a high variance waiver claim guy.
  17. Oh god dude, why do you keep doing this to yourself? Just tone it down a bit and keep posting. No need to get yourself banned again prior to the season starting.
  18. Why do we need $20M of payroll space at the deadline?
  19. Definitely seems like there is $10M of payroll space left right now plus room to operate at the trade deadline.
  20. Dude, we have Luis Robert, Tim Anderson, Eloy Jimenez, Yoan Moncada, Andrew Vaughn, Jose Abreu, Yasmani Grandal, & AJ Pollock. Wake me the fuck up when the Tigers or Royals have eight players in their lineup of that caliber. And yeah, the Tigers have some promising young arms, but guess what? Pitching prospects bust all the time. And right now, outside of ERod, none of them have performed at the level of Giolito, Lynn, Cease, or even Kopech. They have to take massive leaps just to get where we are. Is our roster flawless? Definitely not, but it’s leagues ahead of the Tigers & Royals in terms of overall talent. Maybe that changes over time, but Torkelson / Greene & Witt alone aren’t enough to bridge the gap.
  21. Do you realize how good our positional group is? Do you realize we have three top 20 starting pitchers from last plus a fourth guy who is more talented than any of them (yes I know Lynn is hurt)? Do you realize we have the best closer in baseball plus several setup who should provide quality innings? Like I wish we were bolder, but it doesn’t change the fact this is an elite club on paper. The Royals & Tigers would need massive leaps from numerous guys to even enter our stratosphere. Could it happen? Sure, anything is possible. Is it likely? Fuck no. The real threats at the moment are our lack of pitching depth and the Twins. If we continue to have pitching injuries and the Twins outperform their Pythagorean projections then it’s possible we could lose the division. But the level of panic that you’re displaying right now is a bit embarrassing and I say that a friend. It’s fine to be concerned, but we are still in the driver’s seat right now and we should all be excited about one of the best rosters in our lifetime.
