  1. His didn’t have this level of track record a month ago (which is still extremely small) and the innings limit is still a major concern. But all it takes is one team to feel they have a way to manage his innings and utilize him as a weapon come October to get a haul and rumors suggest that should happen given how bad the market it is. And to be clear, you were being ridiculed for this “magical innings limit” crap when the team has already come out and said he Crochet see a reduction in innings in the second half of the year.
  2. No doubt a 55 FV pitcher is not worth the same as 55 FV positional prospect, but I don’t think the value differential is that large. But look, I agree it’s not the sexiest of returns on paper, but if Thorpe can be a 3 win starter for the next six years that alone would be solid return. And there is still real upside in Iriarte & Zavala even if the results this year aren’t exactly stellar.
  3. I think the difference is Crochet looks like arguably the best pitcher in baseball right now and is even cheaper than Cease is with potentially three post-seasons to make a difference. I admit that I question how a team will keep him at this level between now and October, but the market for SP is going to be incredibly seller friendly and there won’t be any other starters available with this type of series changing ability. As long as teams feel there is a path to keep him strong until October, I think he will command a return much stronger than Cease’s.
  4. No doubt we have some arms, but outside of Schultz and maybe Iriarte and/or Taylor I think the group lacks true TOR ceiling. Most of these guys are probably #4 or #5 type starters on championship caliber teams with a couple I could see being #3’s if all goes to plan like Thorpe for example.
  5. They got a 55 FV, a 50 FV, a 45+ FV, and an interesting controllable reliever in return. It wasn’t an epic return as the centerpiece was much more floor than ceiling, but I think you and several others are greatly understating its quality.
  6. Actually it’s just how he handles a staff as his throwing, blocking, and framing are all negative value. They should just fire Grifol and make Maldonado the manager at this point.
  7. He has the lowest wRC+ in baseball history amongst a ~42k sample of positional players with over 120 plate appearances in a season.
  8. Fully agree on his takes…heard one of Twitter spaces and it was absolutely cringe worthy.
  9. Fully agree. And that’s the problem…seems like he’s determined to bet on himself and not lock down $70M or so for the next four seasons.
  10. I’ve said before I’d prefer extending Crochet over trading him. But let’s be honest, Reinsdorf is gonna Jerry and refuse to take on any risk when it comes to pitching. Anyways, my point of optimism is regarding the market. Getz is a big wild card and could botch it, but at least the demand and the right GMs should be in the mix this deadline. The potential to execute a transformative series of trades is very much possible if managed correctly.
  11. Random thoughts, but I’m starting to feel very optimistic about White Sox trade possibilities. I really think Robert ultimately gets traded to the Phillies. It is just a perfect match for so many reasons with a package likely centered around Aiden Miller. Fedde is going to land a legit 50 FV prospect plus a nice secondary piece from a small club who needs a potential playoff starter on the cheap. And it’s all but a certainty Crochet gets dealt for a haul if he can hang in there for another four weeks. I was very skeptical teams would meet the ask given the innings concern, but sounds like in this market that won’t matter. There is real hope right now and Getz needs to deliver.
  12. It doesn’t appear that we have a hitting version of Bannister just yet.
  13. Please keep us up-to-date on any bad things that happen
  14. But the high first round 1B track record is sparkling in comparison?
  15. Last I checked his velocity at Charlotte was the same as last year, but perhaps that’s no longer the case.
  16. You realize how bad Abel has been this year right? His stock has probably slipped a ton. It’s a really light offer IMO.
  17. Crochet for Holliday straight up…who says no?
  18. Fathom suggested there were legitimate offers, probably a bit better than what we got for those two. Probably nothing crazy, but my guess something better than the market Getz had to work with.
  19. Hard to get excited by Shuster when he’s K’ing less than six per nine. Honestly, it looks like we got a whole lot of nothing with Gowens the one wild card. It’s very clear to me that Hahn blew it by not dealing Bummer at the 2023 deadline.
  20. You like that Phillies trade? If I don’t get Miller, no one way I moving him to them.
  21. O’s trade would be a yes for me. Phillies trade a hard no. Need to read up Knoth before stating an opinion either way.
  22. Yup, he has a 10% walk rate and 5% K rate over his last nine games, but also a .156 BABIP (which is now pretty much normalized on a YTD basis). Honestly at this point it’s just the game power that is of concern, but I’m willing to give him more time there before I panic.
  23. The broke ass Guardians are just such a perfect fit for Fedde. Honestly, any small market club with a need for SP will be over him come July.
