  1. I love me some Mayo, but went with Basallo because he’s lefty and there is still a non-zero chance he can play a premium position. But I wouldn’t be against your proposal in the slightest.
  2. Crochet is incredibly hard to value, but the dude is on pace for a six win season and actually looks the part. The only things holding back his value are general health concerns and an innings limit than year. If you actually believe he can hold up, he’s a $100M+ surplus value guy even if restricted at some point this year. For the package I proposed, I’d value Basallo around $60M, Beaver around $30M, and Baumeister around $10M. If you look at the O’s system, it is incredibly top heavy and there is not a realistic path to a Crochet trade without one of Basallo, Mayo, or Kjerstad. I went with Basallo simply because he’s the farthest away (although not by much) and doesn’t fill an immediate hole. The Robert trade to me comes down to if you believe in Miller. He’s shot up to 21st overall on BA’s Top 100 list and seems like a legit 60 FV guy to me. Pair him with Basallo, Montgomery, and a bat at 1-5 and you suddenly have a group of high ceiling / high floor bats that you build around with alongside others like Quero, Ramos, Gonzalez, the three OFs acquired in these trades, etc. Crawford is probably a bit polarizing given his value is still tied to a lot of projection, but I’m willing to gamble on the athleticism and hopefully some power eventually resulting into a good everyday CF. And Abel is a buy low type that I could see Bannister being highly interested in (assuming health isn’t the reason for his problems this year) based on the rumored Texan proposal for Cease. It’s not the Juan Soto package, but I don’t see many teams who can (or will) offer a 60 FV prospect alongside two other 55 to 50 FV guys.
  3. To be honest, I have Basallo as a 1B based on the reports I’ve read but the bat seems legit enough to project him as an impact hitter regardless of position. I know some may prefer a guy Kjerstad who can play the OF, but he’s not great out there and is already 25. Given our situation, I’d push for youth and ceiling and I think Basallo offers the best combo of anyone attainable in that system (though admittedly I really like what I’ve seen of Mayo).
  4. Passan had a “Perfect Trade for each Contender” article today and it has Robert to the Phillies, Crochet to the Orioles, & Fedde to the Guardians. And honestly, all three of those pairings make sense. Here is what I’d want from each of them to get a deal done: CF Luis Robert to PHI for SS/3B Aidan Miller, OF Justin Crawford, RHP Mick Abel, & RHP Wen Hui Pan SP Crochet to BAL for C/1B Samuel Basallo, OF Dylan Beavers, & RHP Jackson Baumeister SP Fedde to CLE for OF Jaison Churio & RHP Andrew Waters Please flame away as needed!
  5. I think Phillies or Mariners are easily the two best fits for Robert and have front offices that are typically aggressive.
  6. Would be nice to free up some OF space and see what we have with the group you highlighted. I’d certainly give Eloy away at the deadline to do so.
  7. Oh, I’m not suggesting he won’t do it, but why any fan would want to see it is beyond me.
  8. It’s very bizarre, but he has eaten some money. Honestly, it’s blocking players with any semblance of potential that hurts the most. But you know what, at some point just send his ass to the bench if Jerry won’t cut him right away.
  9. That’s a tough one. I mean, on one hand you have the argument that $55M for a team on pace to win 43 games with no other bad money and an owner who won’t spend on legit stars anyways is somehow more valuable than young controllable talent. On the other hand, you have the argument that a catcher who is currently the worst offensive player in major league history with over 120 plate appearances (out of a +40k sample) who is also providing negative value in terms of blocking, throwing, and framing is somehow worth it because of how he “handles” the pitching staff despite CERA saying otherwise. And with both arguments laid out, I think I’ll go with defending Oldy Moldy to the end being the worst one. I mean we’re talking about the worst fucking hitter since 1871, but when you hate analytics more than anything other than Jeremy Haber’s laptop and Nick Madrigal’s small stature it’s not surprising he may not fully realize how epically bad Martin has been this year.
  10. lol…this s%*# is absolutely hilarious. Dump Benintendi’s $55M contract so Getz can go out and sign the next Benintendi. What a fucking awesome plan!
  11. Yes, the number one focus for a team on pace to win 43 games with no other long-term commitments should be dumping a $55M contract over trying to get the most talent possible for their best two players. ?
  12. I’ve endured a lot of bullshit and stupidity in my time as a Sox fan, but if Getz forces Benitendi into a Robert or Crochet that might just kill my remaining fandom. Would be the absolutely dumbest thing ever as we are a long ways away from money being hindrance from competing.
  13. It’s a horrible proposal and Pirates fan are saying it’s way too much…lol.
  14. I’d kill for an actual rumor right about now.
  15. Is he still a prospect? Is that a real question?
  16. If those are the type of bats we will be targeting in free agency, then we might as well fold up shop right now. You can’t expect to fill half a lineup with dumpster dives and expect to be competitive.
  17. It was fun to f*** around with when it was free, but I wouldn’t pay a single dime to use it.
  18. It’s also no longer free and I can’t imagine anyone would actually pay for it
  19. I don’t envision Tanner Banks having all that much value. Yes he’s lefty and is controllable for a while, but he’s also a 32 year old relief pitcher without much of a track record. He’ll net us something if he keeps this up, but he isn’t nearly enough of a sweetener to land a premium prospect when paired with Fedde.
  20. Just a bummer more than anything. He needs some real innings and this obviously slows down that build-up. But glad to hear it’s not overly serious.
  21. Wow…you are actually condoning writing off a player for making a single mistake in his major league debut.
