  1. I mean, yes? All depends on the budget Jerry has signed off on. Realistically, failing to offer Rodon a QO means one of two things. 1). The budget is going to be significantly limited this year and we simply can’t afford him with all our other needs. 2). The Sox actually want a starter who is more likely to provide 170+ innings and be a factor in the postseason and are concerned Rodon will accept the QO. Honestly, as much as I want Rodon back, a part of me sees the logic of the latter, especially when there are some good starters who might get shorter term deals. Will be interesting to see what they do with the QO in the next day.
  2. The Giants need four starting pitchers though and I doubt they’ll address all four spots in free agency. Adding a guy like Keuchel provides some certainty while they go out and pursue some of the bigger fish. Obviously it’s got to be at a price point that’s attractive to them, which probably means us eating a little bit of money and giving up a small piece. And with La Stella’s recent surgery, I think that makes it more motivating for them to move him. Plus dude will make $11.5M in 2023 which is pretty high given what 2B are going for nowadays. I don’t know, I just don’t see La Stella being an overly valuable trade chip given the front-loading of his contract and the fact he was injured / underperformed last year. Throw in his latest surgery that puts OD readiness at risk and I think that contract is probably underwater.
  3. I still think there is a chance of a Keuchel for La Stella deal. Might have to throw in some cash and include a small piece like Collins.
  4. Why are you thinking this? Feels like you’ve said this before too.
  5. He acquired two All-Stars last offseason and you could argue a third with Rodon. Grandal was a great addition no matter how much you hate him and he was on the money with trying to get Wheeler (and made the largest offer). What moves are you upset about? I get Keuchel sucked this year and may be cooked, but he did give us a sub 2.00 ERA last year. And sure, go ahead and rip the Kimbrel move, but it was an aggressive go it for now trade deadline deal. He’s had some misses, but greatly overstating how bad he’s been the last couple years.
  6. I was interpreting it as appearances, but perhaps I’m wrong there. Good catch.
  7. It’s at the link you just posted: “2022 Buyout increases $1M each for 53 games finished in 2020, & 2021”
  8. How many trades have happened so far this offseason? I mean, GMs don’t even know who is going to hit free agency yet.
  9. Why is Kimbrel considered “junk” though? As bad as he was with us, he finished the year with 2.2 fWAR which would tie for 5th overall for relievers. I don’t think GMs are going to ignore his total body of work and focus only on his time with the White Sox. Don’t get me wrong, his cold stretch being at the end of the season will impact his value, but it doesn’t means he’s finished and a smart GM will try to rationalize why his season suddenly flipped upside down when he got traded. I don’t think we will get much for him, but if the Sox do pick up his option then I’m confident we’ll get something fungible for him (likely a lesser reliever) and that’s better than eating his $2M option.
  10. I can’t see Rodon passing on the QO if he gets extended one.
  11. All good brother…I know you’re well intentioned, but saying shit like that will enrage the board. Let’s just move on, no need to beat yourself up over it. And I apologize for being overly mean about it.
  12. You literally just said we suck despite winning 90+ games and having one of the best cores in baseball…don’t play victim here bro. If the mods here weren’t cool as fuck, you’d almost certainly be suspended for blatant trolling behavior. We all have bad days, but none of us purposely say stupid shit just to get a rise out of the board to feel better about ourselves.
  13. I am completely embarrassed that I fought for you to be unbanned. Like good god man, go the fuck away and live your miserable life elsewhere. Getting our asses handed to us by the Astros sucked balls, but thank god you weren’t here to make it 10x worse with you’re pessimistic insanity.
  14. We literally underperformed our Pythagorean by six or seven games. You are truly an abomination of a poster.
  15. One of the worst posts in the history of the site in all honesty
  16. Frazier would be a nice little piece, but I feel we a left-handed thumper in the middle of the lineup. I’m definitely not against Frazier though, especially if we go in a different direction for RF.
  17. If you add Suzuki for RF, then you got to add a LH bat for 2B. How much does take it take to land Ketel Marte? Does Vaughn, Crochet, & Rodriguez get it done? Is that something we’d even consider doing? Regardless, imagine the fucking lineup! Anderson, SS Robert, CF Marte, 2B# Abreu, 1B Jimenez, LF Grandal, C# Moncada, 3B# Suzuki, RF Sheets, DH* Good fucking god! If only dreams could come true!
  18. Why should it be competitive vs the dumpster fire it was this year?
  19. Can’t have a Hahn press conference without Hahn ?
  20. These reasons all suck and we aren’t facing AL Central teams in the playoffs. We need to improve the roster for post-season purposes, which means improved defense where possible and better offensive balance. Soler helps in neither regard.
  21. So your argument is the Sox should have acquired a bunch of garbage outfielders at the trade deadline because they happened to get hot in the playoffs. And the only one who wasn’t garbage (Duvall) has a profile that doesn’t typically do well against elite pitching in the playoffs and sure enough did not do well. But hey, if you’ve got a way to see into the future and tell which bad players will randomly start hitting in October then please share with our front office so they proactively add these “impact” players on the cheap.
  22. Are HRs the only basis for offensive production? Soler has barely been an above league average hitter over his last 800 plate appearances. I’m confident that Vaughn would blow that out of the water while also providing slightly better defense. Not sure why we’re wasting an ounce of time discussing Soler other than certain posters overreacting to a hot playoff stretch or over-valuing someone’s country of origin.
