  1. I actually mentioned previously that Escobar would make a great utility player next year and maybe getting him in house would convince him to accept such a role in 2022, but with this team option we basically get a similar player on a reasonable one year deal. Almost seems like a no-brainer that option gets picked.
  2. Pilkington’s value has certainly increased since pre-season rankings and he was a no doubt top 20 prospect in this system and more likely a top 15 guy IMO.
  3. Gotta disagree here. The big benefit of Hernandez is he’s significantly better against RHP than Leury. Since 2017 he’s put up a 104 wRC+, while Leury is only at 80. That is a massive improvement and provides the potential for a pretty good platoon at 2B given Leury’s strength against LHP (108 wRC+ over the same time period). But I agree the depth aspect is also very important.
  4. Will he continue to provide that power going forward is the question?
  5. Yeah, the Shields & Shark deals obviously turned out horrific. Hopefully we’ve gotten better at self scouting since then.
  6. I don’t think you’re giving these fake insiders enough credit. It’s really hard to keep up with the constant stream of rumors, so whenever you see anyone with the smallest amount of credibility hint at a possible trade you need to quickly drop some eyeballs so you can claim you knew all along but were unable to share for reasons that us common folks will never understand. In that regard, Portillo’s is the superior insider to NSC, as the latter actually throws out names far too often and 99.9% of what he predicts never comes to fruition.
  7. Puckett and some other dude that never pitched were acquired for Melky. Also, on that Peavy trade, we also got Frankie Montas and JB Wendelken. That trade was way better than some people remember, but obviously we traded those additional two pieces for Frazier & Lawrie in the greatest half-assed “all-in” effort in White Sox history.
  8. Who is the player? I remember hearing about this back in the day, but don’t recall if the player ever leaked out.
  9. The wild card in a Story trade is the Sox appear willing to absorb money and I could totally see Rockies’ ownership looking to unload salary. Given that Story & Bard will make nearly $7M down the stretch, absorbing that money could keep the prospect cost down some.
  10. Fully agree and if they’re able to solve both 2B/RP in one move, it makes moving Burger a little more tolerable.
  11. Honestly, no idea but it’s possible Jimmy’s name is being thrown around multiple deals and Burger is only involved in talks for Story. I do think James’ tweet about the lack of media availability tonight at the Knights game to be highly interesting.
  12. Only a four for one now and suddenly doesn’t seem like that crazy of a return
  13. Isn’t Gonzalez killing it in the ACL?
  14. Leury has a 90 wRC+ this year and has averaged an 89 since 2017. The other three guys have combined for roughly the same amount of plate appearances as Andrew Vaugh, so doubtful they’d be able to inflate our team wRC+ all that much anyways. Regardless, Goodwin is at 106 this year vs. a career 102, while Hamilton is at 72 vs. a career 67. Engel has greatly out-produced his career numbers, but it’s been 79 PA’s. Basically, you just make stuff to fuel your pessimism.
  15. And that‘s actually a really good point. Even if you somehow think Leury is the answer at 2B, we literally no middle infield depth behind him & Mendick.
  16. I don’t get how Liam has been awesome and has also given up so many god damn HRs.
