I think Dan is greatly undervaluing Ramos and I have no idea why the D-Backs would want Yogurt.

White Sox considering Nelson Cruz
Chicago White Sox replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Honestly, I think the latter is better. Escobar is a massive offensive upgrade over Mendick, you aren’t forced to play Eloy everyday in LF, and generally speaking you have a stronger defensive OF. And while it’s obviously a bit premature, Cruz doesn’t help much during road games in the World Series. -

We definitely need to add a bat, but right now 2B is a bigger priority than RF. -
Thanks...that’s a bummer as I had a mid 40’s pick in my mind, but would still be fun to have the extra pool to work with.

I can get Kopech. He only has four years of control (three of which are arbitration) and right now his ability to be a full season starter next year is at stake due to a lack of innings. And while he looks like the real deal coming out of the bullpen, he hasn’t proven anything as a major league starter and I’m sure that’s being held against him. Don’t get me wrong, I think he’s super valuable, but I get their argument for not including him at the moment. The Eloy exclusion is much more egregious IMO and more or less indefensible unless you play the “he will always get injured” card. If he does stay healthy, I think he’ll quickly develop into a top 10 hitter. His mix of hit tool & power makes him so special and his contract is super reasonable (maxes out at $18.5M), even if he ends up spending a lot of time at DH.

Is that where a Rodon comp pick would be as well?

Two things worth pointing out. First, Yermin hasn’t communicated any plans to the Sox, so as of this moment he hasn’t technically “retired”. Unless there is something dark behind this, it’s entirely possible a quick conversation with the front office / Tony changes gets him to change his “plans”. Part of me thinks / hopes this is just a dude who’s a little entitled after having some success and is basically throwing a pity party. I guess we’ll find out soon enough. That feeds into point two which is Yermin was incredibly productive for Charlotte and likely would have a gotten a shot elsewhere. The universal DH is almost certainly coming and I’m sure there are some NL clubs who would take a chance on him if the cost were reasonable. Even if this public retirement ends up being short-lived, he’s probably made getting another opportunity that much harder. Again, hopefully there isn’t something dark behind this, but it’s very possible a lack maturity will end costing him in the end.

Thanks...I was not aware of those rule changes.

Oh I totally agree, but aggression typically gets exploited more against more advanced pitching. Not a huge deal at the moment, but something worth monitoring going forward.

I’d say his lack of patience is the one box he’s not checking and that’s what could get him exposed as he moves up the system. Still plenty young enough to make strides in that area though.

20 SBs too. Didn’t realize he was swiping that many bags. He’s a super exciting talent.

Look, I’m not blaming Tony for this decision, but I won’t give him a free pass for humiliating his player publicly and telling the other teams it’s ok to throw at his guys. Doesn’t matter what level of sports this is, manage your shit in the clubhouse and not in the media. And never, under any circumstance tell the other team they can throw a 90+ MPH projectile at one of your guys. I hate defending a guy like Law, but if that’s what he’s referring to then I’m in agreement with him.

Dan Clark playing insider for an org he doesn’t even cover is quite humorous. It’s too bad he didn’t retire from Twitter like he said he would. -

Rutherford has literally zero value at this point. To be honest, I doubt he survives the offseason on our 40 man roster. He literally doesn’t bring a single plus tool to the table. -
