White Sox @ Tigers - 7/4/21- Game Thread
Chicago White Sox replied to soxfan49's topic in 2021 Season in Review
Leury batting 5th against a RHP while Collins is batting last is something. -
Eaton put up a 129 wRC+ against RHP in April and it wasn’t BABIP fueled luck. If he’s healthy, I’m 100% keeping him over Goodwin. And Billy Hamilton is nothing more than a 5th OF who provides value as a pinch runner and late inning defensive replacement. If we go out and add a legit RF then I could see the argument for Hamilton being the better bench option than Eaton, but otherwise our best bet is to keep Eaton well rested and hope he can be healthy for the playoffs.

RICK HAHN MEETING WITH REPORTERS AT 2:30

Hahn would never trade a former top 20 prospect for an overrated Adam Frazier with 1 1/2 years of control. It’s just completely nonsensical. -

It’s funny how many Sox fans on Twitter are like “you have to give to get” and support this shitty proposal. -
Hamilton & Goodwin aren’t starting caliber players and it’s way too early to make any declarations on Sheets. If Eaton is 100% healthy then he’s far & away the best option in RF against RHP that we currently have. The problem is he’s proven that he can’t stay healthy and an upgrade is necessary.

The Offense - Near Term Actions
Chicago White Sox replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Add “play Sheets” to this list. In all honesty, it’s great to see the Burger for Yermin swap, Collins rocking a 135 wRC+ against RHP, and Vaughn starting to murder righties over the last four games. We need to add some more pieces prior to the deadline, but at least some of the younger guys have stopped the bleeding for now. -
They’re probably better off waiting until the offseason though.
-
For Gallo yes, as long as Burger is considered a key piece
-
I really don’t think you can trade Burger unless it’s for a controllable piece. Each & every day he produces, the more his prospect value increases.

IF our team is 100% healthy, IF we add no one else, & IF we’re facing a righty: Anderson, SS Moncada, 3B# Abreu, 1B Jimenez, LF Grandal, C# Robert, CF Collins, DH* Eaton, RF* Mendick, 2B That being said, we 100% need to add a 2B as Mendick isn’t going to cut it offensively. And we almost certainly need to add an OF as expecting April Adam Eaton would be incredibly foolish.

I haven’t seen him play, but the reports I read suggested he’s a strong up-the-middle defender with questionable offensive abilities so I’d say yes. It sounds like he has some decent physical tools, so maybe there is chance he develops into more? Again, being 24 in Low A doesn’t make me overly optimistic and there were some rumors that he showed up to camp out of shape (not sure if those were true or not). Regardless, at some point we need to get aggressive with him.

I’m one of Collins’ biggest fans, but he’ll still need work on his framing in the coming years. Right now he’s in the 1% percentile per Statcast and can’t frame a strike on the corners to save his life. That being said, he appears to handle the staff pretty well and is a plus hitter against RHP (135 wRC+). To me, he should be starting everyday against RHP, with a couple starts a week at catcher and the rest at DH. And he could be super valuable in that role similar to a Mike Napoli or Evan Gattis.
