ESPN predicts 120 loss season for the White Sox
Chicago White Sox replied to hankchifan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah, a successful trade deadline could make this team a real threat for 120 losses. When it’s all said and done, I think this could be the worst offense in major league history. If Crochet gets shut down and you trade most of the other arms worth a damn, then there is no limit to how bad this team could be post deadline. It’s going to be close because losing 120 games should be damn near impossible, but with a lack of talent and bad injury luck it just might happen. -

That may be the worst lineup in baseball history -
I pray that one day I get to work for a company you run, because apparently past title and not actual performance is all that’s needed to move up a level.

It isn’t a stupid conversation at all and now you’re just being a dick for the sake of “optimism”. Your argument basically comes down to “Getz was a good farm director because he didn’t make players worse than when they entered the system” and that’s straight up laughable. His job wasn’t to simply make players better (any level of coaching should do that), but to get these kids to actually be prepared for the majors when they arrive and ultimately reach their potential. Your example of “wins” for Getz are bunch of top 10 - 40 prospects who mostly underperformed at the majors or were called up with significant development still needed. Lucas Giolito literally had to go outside the organization because he was so broken. Cease took multiple years at the majors to get on track. The positional group has mostly underperformed (yes, injuries are a part of that). You’re right, it’s not his fault that the org sucked at bringing in talent under Hostetler (and Paddy to some extent) and in certain cases guys were rushed. But that doesn’t mean Getz should get a free pass for a lack of breakouts and be general underperformance. And no, a bunch of relievers and utility guys taken in the later rounds doesn’t change the calculus when every other farm director has similar notches on their belt.

There is a lot of pitching in the system to get excited about. Just need some more bats. Baldwin being a dude would really help though.

Every farm system eventually produces major leaguer to some extent, so not sure why that’s the barometer for good vs. bad. The reality is a good player development staff is getting the most out of its players and the easiest way to tell that if that’s happening is when there is a constant pipeline of prospects who meet or exceed expectations. I think 95% of Sox fans would agree that the vast majority of prospects under Getz performed below expectations. Getz should not get credit because he was given the #1 farm system in baseball and those top blue chip prospects simply made the pros. I just don’t know what you see in his resume to suggest he was even a mediocre farm director.

Who are all these successes you refer to? I’m not even trying to be a dick here, but curious who you feel are prospects who exceeded expectations after being brought into the organization and actually played in the minors under Getz.

Moncada out 3-6 months, Colás recalled
Chicago White Sox replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think McGuffey is very wrong here. Someone will give him a guaranteed deal for at least several million just based on the upside. -
Sounds like he’s getting called up according to multiple sources.

This is from last season, but had never seen it before and felt it was worth sharing

This guy may be the biggest clown in baseball history. Like no one gave a f*** if he spent 15 seconds looking at the eclipse, but the dude is such a tool that he needed to claim he didn’t have the time because he needed to watch video in preparation for the game tonight. And then after all that, he actually goes out and looks at the god damn eclipse. This dude would literally say anything to help convince the world he is not completely incompetent.

We still got this. The train is just leaving the station.

Why is he being used in over 50% of our games?

I think it’s safe to these guys suck

Being clowned by Royals fans sure is fun

Offensive explosion!?

Well Harold claims he’s basically our pitching coach, so please ignore the poor receiving, throwing, blocking, & hitting and accept the fact our simple minds and all advanced analytics can’t comprehend the value he brings to the table.

Golden sombrero for Gladney…woof

Benitendi with a leadoff walk. Now is our chance!
-
I can’t see him lasting that long. I’d say by the end of the 2025 season you have to seriously consider releasing him if this is the player you’re getting (and I don’t mean the .300 OPS version obviously).
-
I don’t think there is any chance he makes it to 2026. He doesn’t take walks and doesn’t hit for enough power for 1B. I feel like he’s regressing and not showing any real reason to believe he’ll figure it out. I know I’m the only who feels this way, but I’d send him down to AAA and let him work on some s%*# in a pressure free environment. It’s clear that whatever he’s doing with the major league staff isn’t working and bolder actions may be needed if there is any hope of righting the ship.

When will the Andrew Benintendi nightmare end?
